図3には、接続ユニット100も図示されている。接続ユニット100は、制御端子台30を介して複数の端子31〜36と接続可能に構成されており、点灯装置10およびこれを備えた照明器具1の機能を拡張することができる。一例としては、接続ユニット100は、人の存在を検知する人感センサとすることができる。人感センサとしての接続ユニット100は、その内部回路が基準電位端子31を介してグランドに接続され、制御電源端子36から電源の供給を受け、入力端子33を介してセンサ信号をLED制御回路70に入力する。LED制御回路70は、人感センサとしての接続ユニット100による検知結果に基づいて点灯制御を行う。ただし本発明はこれに限られるものではなく、人検知以外の各種の拡張機能を実現するために様々な機能を備えた接続ユニット100を準備すればよく、これにより取付工事をした後などの事後的な場面において、点灯装置10および照明器具1の機能拡張が容易となる。
