Description
The present invention relates to a projection apparatus and an optical element.
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, there is a head-up display as a projection device that displays an image, information, or the like on a windshield of an automobile. There are various types of head-up displays, and those using a laser light source as a light source include those using a microlens array. A head-up display using a laser light source as a light source has an advantage that speckle noise due to laser light is suppressed by using a microlens array as compared with a diffusion plate.
By the way, the head-up display is generally reflected by a reflecting member for deflecting the traveling direction of light, and an image formed by the reflected light is visually recognized. The member has polarization dependency. Therefore, when the microlens array has birefringence, the contrast in the displayed image changes due to the polarization dependency of the reflecting member, and the quality of the displayed image is degraded. In particular, when the microlens array is formed by injection molding using a transparent resin material, the resin material flows during injection molding to form a microlens array. Therefore, the in-plane distribution or the like of birefringence tends to be non-uniform, and the above-described tendency becomes remarkable.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is that it provides a projection apparatus and an optical element that can display a high-quality image.

(Projector)
The projector according to the present embodiment will be described based on it. FIG. 1 shows the structure of a head-up display that is a projection apparatus according to the present embodiment. The head-up display, which is the
Next, the
The
In the present embodiment, the light of the first wavelength emitted from the
In the first
Thus, the first wavelength light, the second wavelength light, and the third wavelength light combined by the second
(Optical element)
Next, the
In the present embodiment, each microlens 31 is formed in a substantially hexagonal shape, and is arranged two-dimensionally without any gap between the
By the way, in the
The width d of such a
As shown in FIG. 3B, the
(Optical element manufacturing method)
Next, the manufacturing method of the
First, as shown in FIG. 4A, a
Next, as shown in FIG. 4B, an appropriate amount of an ultraviolet
Next, as shown in FIG. 4C, the ultraviolet
Next, as shown in FIG. 4D, the
The resin material for forming the
Further, when the ultraviolet
Next, the reason why the polymerization shrinkage in the portion where the
As shown in FIG. 5A, when the thickness t2 of the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 5B, when the thickness t2 of the
There are various types of ultraviolet
Next, the influence when the
Here, a case where the
Next, the polarization of the emitted light when the s-polarized light beam having the wavelength λ is incident on the birefringent member having the retardation Rd and the optical axis is inclined in the direction of 45 ° with respect to the s-polarized light. The intensity is shown in FIG. 7A, and the polarization intensity ratio is shown in FIG. 7B. When light having a plurality of wavelengths is used in the
Based on FIG. 7B, in order to make the polarization intensity ratio of p-polarized light to s-polarized light 10% or less, the retardation Rd needs to be 0.098 times or less of the wavelength λ. In order to make the polarization intensity ratio of p-polarized light to s-polarized light 5% or less, the retardation Rd needs to be 0.071 times or less of the wavelength λ. In order to make the polarization intensity ratio of p-polarized light to s-polarized light 3% or less, the retardation Rd needs to be 0.055 times or less of the wavelength λ. In order to make the polarization intensity ratio of p-polarized light to s-polarized light 1% or less, the retardation Rd needs to be 0.032 times or less of the wavelength λ.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, the retardation Rd in the
When the retardation Rd is uniformly generated in the
Next, the shape and the like of the
In addition, the optical element in which the
Specifically, in the
On the other hand, in the
Next, various configurations of the optical element in the present embodiment will be described. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 9A, the
9B, the optical element 130b may have a structure in which microlenses 31 each formed of a convex lens are formed on both surfaces of the
Further, as shown in FIG. 9C, in the
As shown in FIG. 9D, the
