Description

The present invention relates to a package for storing colored ophthalmic lenses.

Contact lenses have been used commercially to improve vision since the 1950s. Initially, contact lenses were made of a hard material and were relatively easy to handle and package for use, but were uncomfortable for many patients. Later, softer and more comfortable lenses made of hydrophobic hydrogels were developed. Due to the popularity of these soft lenses, users are demanding more than correction of visual acuity for lenses, and further demanding cosmetic effects. For the most part, these effects either improve the natural iris color (known as the trade name enhancers) or mask the natural iris color (known as the trade name opaque). Brought about by contact lenses colored in the colors of

Most contact lenses are packaged in a separate blister package having a clear bowl portion and a foil top, which is made of a hydrophobic material such as polypropylene. For examples of such packages, see US Pat. Nos. 4,691,820, 5,054,610, 5,337,888, which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. 5,375,698, 5,409,104, 5,467,868, 5,515,964, 5,609,246, 5,695,049 No. 5,697,495, No. 5,704,468, No. 5,711,416, No. 5,722,536, No. 5,573,108, No. 5 823,327, 5,704,468, 5,983,608, 6,029,808, 6,044,966 and 6,401,915. Please refer.

Typically, the foil top of these packages is a single color, and in most cases the color is that of an aluminum foil. When a potential purchaser of a contact lens sees through the transparent bowl portion of the blister package, the user is unable to envision exactly what the lens will look like when worn on their eyes. Considering the number and range of colors available for colored contact lenses, a potential purchaser of a cosmetic contact lens looks at a sealed blister package and what the lens is when worn on their eyes It would be beneficial to be able to imagine how it would look before purchasing a lens. The following invention meets such a demand.
