Description
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus including the image reading apparatus, and more particularly to a technique for determining whether reading of an image of a document being conveyed is completed.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as described in
However, in a low-cost image reading apparatus that includes the ADF as described above but does not include an open / close detection sensor, the open / close cover is not provided even when the open / close cover is opened while an image of a document is being read. It cannot be detected that it has been opened. For this reason, when the open / close cover is opened while the image of the document is being read, for example, the roller member for conveying the document vibrates and the document is read with a deviation from the normal conveyance direction. Even when the original image cannot be normally read due to being conveyed to the position, the original image reading operation is continued, and there is a possibility that the original image is read erroneously.
Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an image reading apparatus or an image forming apparatus that is not provided with an open / close detection sensor, in which an open / close cover is opened and an original is scanned. This is to reduce the possibility that an image of a document is erroneously read in a state where the image cannot be read normally.
An image reading apparatus according to the present invention includes a placement unit on which a document is placed, an image reading unit that reads an image of a document at a predetermined reading position, and a document placed on the placement unit. A document conveying section that feeds the sheets one by one while leaving a time between sheets, and discharges the document via the reading position; and an opening and closing cover that opens and closes a conveyance path through which the document is conveyed by the document conveying section. A final document determination unit that determines whether or not a transported document that is being transported by the document transport unit is a final document that is a final document among the documents placed on the placement unit; A conveyance detection unit that detects that the leading and trailing edges of the document conveyed by the document conveyance unit have reached the reading position, and the final document determination unit determines that the conveyance document is not the final document, And the carrying When the detection unit detects that the trailing edge of the transported document has reached the reading position, the detection unit detects that the trailing edge of the transported document has reached the reading position, and is less than the inter-paper time. until the lapse of reading the time limit predetermined for a long time, the leading end of the next document that is different from the fed-document I document der conveyed next to the fed-document has reached the reading position Is detected by the conveyance detection unit, it detects that an abnormality has occurred during reading of the image of the conveyed document, and notifies the user that an abnormality has occurred during the reading of the conveyed document. And the final document determination unit determine that the transported document is not the final document, and the transport detection unit has reached the leading edge of the transported document. In the case of being output, when the conveyance detection unit detects that the leading edge of the next original has reached the reading position without any abnormality being detected by the abnormality detection unit, the conveyance original by the image reading unit A reading determination unit that determines that reading of the image has been completed.
When the leading edge of the transported document reaches the reading position, the image reading unit starts reading the image of the transported document, and then the opening / closing cover is opened, for example, a roller for transporting the document. There is a possibility that the image of the document cannot be normally read because the member vibrates and the document is transported to the reading position in a direction different from the normal transport direction.
According to the configuration of the image reading apparatus disclosed above, when the final document determination unit determines that the conveyed document is not the final document, the opening / closing cover is opened during the reading of the image of the conveyed document as described above. When the leading edge of the next document does not reach the reading position between the time when it is detected that the trailing edge of the transported document has reached the reading position and the reading limit time has elapsed, The abnormality detection unit detects that an abnormality has occurred. That is, without providing an open / close detection sensor for detecting the open / close state of the open / close cover, a state in which an image of a document cannot be read normally can be appropriately detected as a state where an abnormality has occurred as described above. .
Then, the final document determination unit determines that the conveyed document is not the final document, and the conveyance detection unit detects that the leading edge of the conveyed document has reached the reading position, and the image reading unit reads the image of the conveyed document. When the conveyance detection unit detects that the leading edge of the next original has reached the reading position without any abnormality being detected by the abnormality detection unit, the reading determination unit causes the image reading unit to It is determined that the reading of the image of the conveyed original by is completed.
That is, the leading edge of the next original arrives at the reading position without detecting any abnormality by the abnormality detection unit, and reading of the image of the next original is started by the image reading unit. It is possible to reliably determine that the reading of the image on the conveyed original has been completed normally. As a result, it is possible to avoid erroneously determining that the reading of the conveyed original is not completed in a state where the reading of the image of the conveyed original is not normally completed. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the possibility that the image of the document is erroneously read in a state where the opening / closing cover is opened and the image of the document cannot be read normally.
The image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes the image reading device and an image forming unit that forms an image on a sheet based on an image read by the image reading unit of the image reading device.
According to this configuration, the image reading apparatus having the above-described configuration reduces the possibility of erroneously reading the document image in a state where the opening / closing cover is opened and the document image cannot be read normally. In addition, it is possible to reduce the possibility of forming an image on a sheet using an image erroneously read by the image forming unit. This can reduce the possibility of wasting paper.
According to the present invention, in an image reading apparatus or an image forming apparatus that does not include an open / close detection sensor, the risk of erroneously reading an original image in a state where the open / close cover is opened and the original image cannot be read normally is reduced. can do.
Hereinafter, a multifunction machine as an example of an image forming apparatus including an image reading apparatus according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a multifunction machine. As shown in FIG. 1, the
The
The
The
FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of the
The
A document image reading method by the
Specifically, in the flat bed reading mode, the
On the other hand, in the ADF reading mode, when the original conveyed by the original conveying
As shown in FIG. 2, the
The open /
The
The
The
The
The reading
The
The
The
The
The
The reading
The reading
That is, when the leading edge of the document conveyed to the one end of the
On the other hand, when one end of the
Note that the
The
Next, the electrical configuration of the

The
The

When the final
Note that the reading limit time is not longer than necessary while ensuring the time necessary for the leading edge of the next original to reach the
Reading
When the final
The reading
Note that the reading time per document used in the control by the reading
Hereinafter, the flow of the document conveying operation using the
As shown in FIG. 4, when the
After step S1 is executed, the final
As shown in FIG. 5, when the final
In step S23, when it is detected that a document is not placed on the
Returning to FIG. 4, after step S <b> 1 is executed, until the
Next, when the
Next, when the total number of originals is not stored in the memory by the original conveyance state storage process performed in parallel (S7; NO), the final
When the final
On the other hand, in step S8, when the measured value of the elapsed time when the measurement was started in step S5 does not exceed the reading limit time (S8; NO), it is the next document after the transported document by the
Then, the reading
In step S7, when the total number of documents is stored in the memory by the document conveyance status storage process performed in parallel, that is, all the documents placed on the
Then, when the final
On the other hand, in step S7, the final
When the final
Note that the reading
Further, the reading time per document may be set in advance before reading the document, instead of being set during reading of the document. For example, when a document having a certain reference size (for example, A4) is transported by the
On the other hand, when the actual reading time corresponding to the final document stored in the memory by the reading
As described above, the
Further, the
In addition, when the final
That is, the
When the opening /
According to the configuration of the above embodiment, when the final
Then, the final
That is, the leading edge of the next original arrives at the
In addition, since the possibility of erroneously reading the original image in a state where the opening /
When the final
However, according to the configuration of the above embodiment, when the reading time of the image of the final document is shorter than the reading time per predetermined document (YES in step S13), the reading
Further, according to the configuration of the above-described embodiment, the actual reading time per conveyed document is measured by the reading time measuring unit 87 (step S3, step S11, step S6), and this actually measured actual reading time. Based on the above, the reading time per document used in step S13 is determined. For this reason, in step S13, the reading
The configurations and settings shown in the above embodiment are merely examples, and the present invention is not intended to be limited to the embodiment.
For example, it is assumed that a plurality of documents do not exist simultaneously on the document conveyance path, and the final
Further, the reading
Further, the
As shown in FIG. 2, when the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6, when the
Further, the information shown when the various signals are at the high level or the low level may be configured to have the opposite meaning to the above embodiment.
In the above-described embodiment, a multifunction peripheral is described as an example of the image forming apparatus according to the present invention.
