骨外側顆の後方運動をガイドするよう構成される。該第1長さは該第2長さより短い。
約150度の屈曲の間で屈曲すると、大腿骨に対する脛骨の内部回転が起こる。本発明の種々の実施例の膝プロテーゼは、膝屈曲時に、少なくとも大腿骨部品及び脛骨部品上に、より大きい屈曲と、大腿骨に対する脛骨の内部回転と、を促進する種々の面と、そして自然の膝の他の特性と、を提供する。

図10B及び10Cで示される弧1−7は、大腿骨の前側から後側へ進む。図10Bで図解される様に、弧4から7は漸進的に減少する半径を有する。従来の膝プロテーゼと異なり、大腿骨内側顆320は弧2及び4の間で短い凹型弧(弧3)を有する。約24mmの曲率半径を有する弧2及び約44mmの曲率半径を有する弧4に比較して、弧3は例えば約5mmの曲率半径を有する。弧3は、弧2との連続性を保持しながら、弧4用の短い半径を許容する。図10Aでは、点線は、もし弧3が除去された(従来の膝プロテーゼに於ける様に)場合の弧2と4の間の関節形状を示す。弧4の小さな半径は、前部脛骨内側区画220に小さな半径を有するようにされる。これは翻って、大腿骨に高い前後安定性を提供し、かくして従来の膝プロテーゼを有する膝で普通見られる、早期の屈曲での予期しない(矛盾する)前方大腿骨シフトを減じる。弧6は約20mmの曲率半径を有するが、該弧は10mmから30mm、12mmから28mm、15mmから25mm、等の範囲のどんな半径を有してもよい。弧1は約50mmの曲率半径を有するが、該弧は30mmから70mm、35mmから65mm、40mmから60mm、45mmから55mm、等の範囲のどんな半径を有してもよい。
方の追加的骨の除去により、又は、案内され/ロボット化された切削ツールを使う造形カットを介して、適合されてもよい。大腿骨内側顆320上の弧6及び大腿骨外側顆上の弧7の各々は約10mmの曲率半径を有するが、両弧は1mmから20mm、5mmから15mm、8mmから12mm、等の範囲内のどんな半径を有してもよい。

- 該内側区画が凹型の第1前方弧と、凹型の第2後方弧と、により特徴付けられる前後プロフアイルを有し、該第1前方弧及び該第2後方弧が各々異なる曲率半径を有する請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 該内側区画が、該内側区画の後端の後方に、面取りされ実質的に凸型のエッジである後部エッジを有する請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 該上面が、該大腿骨部品内に形成された滑車溝と係合するよう構成された前部ランプを有する中央部分を備える請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 該上面が、該大腿骨部品上のカムと係合するよう構成された後部非対称ポストを有する中央部分を備える請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 該脛骨部品の該内側及び外側区画と関節をなすよう構成された支持面を各々が有する、相対する内側及び外側顆を備える大腿骨部品を更に具備する請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 第1長さを有する凹型前部領域と、凸型の中央領域と、そして第2長さを有する凹型の後部領域とを備える脛骨外側面と、を更に具備しており、該第1長さが該第2長さより長い請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 第1長さを有する凹型前部領域と、そして第2長さを有する凹型後部領域とを備える脛骨内側区画、を更に具備しており、該第1長さが該第2長さより長い請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
- 該外側区画が、凹型の第1前方弧と、実質的に平坦な第2弧と、そして凹型の第3弧とを有する前後プロフアイルを備えており、該第3弧が該第2弧の後方にある請求項1記載の膝関節プロテーゼ。
