そこで、下記特許文献１には、上記のような問題点を解消可能なブックカバーの一例が開示されている。
この特許文献１に開示されたブックカバーは、当該ブックカバーの上下左右の端部を折り返すことによって、装着する本のサイズに合わせることができるようになっており、また、その素材として布製や皮製のシートを採用することによって見栄え及び耐久性を向上させている。また、このブックカバーは、矩形状のシートに折り返し部を固定するための面ファスナー又はマグネットを取り付けたものであり、簡素な構成で形成されている。Conventionally, as a book cover for protecting a book, a book cover having a size corresponding to a book of various sizes has been used. 次に、図６〜図１０を参照して、本発明の一実施形態によるブックカバーの本への装着方法について説明する。
本実施形態によるブックカバーを本へ装着するときには、まず、図６に示すように、本の表紙側が天面となるように本を開いた状態で、その本の表表紙と裏表紙のうちの一方の表紙をカバー本体２の第１の辺２ａ側に位置する基部２ｇと折返し部２ｆの端部同士の間に挿し込む。このとき、前記一方の表紙の上縁が折返し部２ｆと基部２ｇとの境界部（第１折返し線２ｅの位置に相当）の内側に当たるように配置する。
次に、図７に示すように、カバー本体２の余白部２ｈを第２折返し線２ｉに沿って折返し部２ｆ上に折り返す。このとき、余白部２ｈを折り返した状態でカバー本体２の第１の辺２ａに沿う方向の内寸が前記一方の表紙の縦方向の寸法に合うように余白部２ｈの折返し量を調節して、たるみやズレが生じないようにする。すなわち、第１の辺２ａに沿う方向における第２折返し線２ｉの位置、換言すれば第１折返し線２ｅと第２折返し線２ｉとの間の距離は、本の縦方向の寸法に応じて異なる。そして、余白部２ｈの折返し量を調節した状態で第３面ファスナー８を第１面ファスナー４に結合させ、第４面ファスナー１０を第２面ファスナー１０に結合させる。
