The present invention relates to an elastic endless belt and a method for manufacturing the same. More specifically, the present invention can suppress variations in the distance between marks during actual use even if the inner circumferential length of the belt varies, and can simplify the process control mechanism and the mechanical control mechanism. The present invention relates to an elastic endless belt and a method for manufacturing the same.
Many image forming apparatuses such as copiers and printers using an electrophotographic system employ a mechanism for transporting a toner image, paper, or the like by a transfer transport endless belt or an intermediate transfer belt. FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of an example of a four-cycle image forming apparatus. A charger 9, a
Next, charging by the charger of the photosensitive drum, exposure with a laser beam, development with cyan toner in the developing unit C, transfer of the toner image to the
As an image forming apparatus provided with a transfer and conveyance endless belt, there is a tandem color image forming apparatus that carries a sheet so as to pass through a transfer section of a plurality of image forming units. In the tandem system, a plurality of image forming units are arranged side by side, and a transfer conveyance endless belt is stretched between a plurality of rollers so as to contact and rotate at a transfer portion of each image forming unit. is there. By transferring the paper carried on the endless belt to pass through the transfer section of each image forming unit, each toner image formed by each image forming unit is transferred so as to be sequentially superimposed on the same paper. To make a color image.
Endless belts such as transfer and transfer endless belts and intermediate transfer belts are caused by such factors as uneven thickness of the belt, belt temperature changes, winding habits during long-term stops, and misalignment between the axes of the drive roller and driven roller. May cause movement speed fluctuation or meandering phenomenon. If a change in moving speed or a meandering phenomenon occurs in the transfer / conveying endless belt or the intermediate transfer belt, a deviation occurs between the toner images of the respective colors, the image is disturbed, and the image quality is deteriorated. In a full-color image forming apparatus that performs multicolor development and forms a color image by superimposing a plurality of toner images, a position detection mark is provided on the transfer conveyance endless belt or intermediate transfer belt to control the position of the endless belt. Thus, a method of obtaining a highly accurate image by suppressing the change of the superimposed position and the wrinkle of the belt is generally performed. A single position detection mark may be provided for each endless belt, but a large-diameter belt is provided with a plurality of position detection marks for the purpose of improving the position accuracy and increasing the process speed. At this time, although it is preferable to arrange the plurality of position detection marks at regular intervals in terms of ease of process control and mechanical control, a suitable method has not yet been established.
Further, as such a transfer endless belt, a resin belt with little expansion and contraction is generally used, but there are an increasing number of cases using an elastic belt excellent in nip characteristics. It is preferable that the elastic endless belt is used in a state where the elastic endless belt is stretched by several% by a plurality of rollers or the like, and the position detection marks are arranged at regular intervals in the used state. However, no method has been established for absorbing variations in the inner circumference of the belt and forming the position detection marks with high accuracy.
The present invention provides an elastic endless belt that can suppress variations in the distance between marks during actual use even if the inner circumference of the belt varies, and can simplify the process control mechanism and the mechanical control mechanism. It is made for the purpose of providing the manufacturing method.

As a result of intensive studies to solve the above problems, the present inventors have provided a position detection mark while stretching the elastic endless belt at a lower stretch rate than in actual use. It has been found that even if the inner circumference varies, the variation in the distance between marks during actual use can be suppressed, and the present invention has been completed based on this finding.

According to the elastic endless belt and the method of manufacturing the same according to the present invention, the position detection mark is formed in a state where the elastic endless belt is stretched at a stretch rate of 1 to 10%, thereby reducing the influence of variations in the inner peripheral length of the belt. Thus, the accuracy of the distance between the position detection marks in the actual use state can be improved. As a result, the process control mechanism and the mechanical control mechanism can be simplified, the required number of parts can be reduced, and the cost of the full-color image forming apparatus can be reduced. Further, by making the belt extension rate when applying the position detection mark smaller than the extension rate at the time of actual use, there is no need to worry about the belt extension before shipment.

Examples of the conductive filler to be blended include carbon black, graphite, carbon fiber, metal powder, metal oxide, and conductive polymer. There is no particular limitation on the molding method of the elastic endless belt material. For example, a rubber or thermoplastic elastomer is molded into a cylindrical shape by an internal mandrel method using an annular die, and is cut into a predetermined length, or a flat sheet is molded. , After cutting to a predetermined size, joining both ends, injecting the prepolymer into a cylindrical mold and semi-curing, then demolding, and covering by heating on an iron core, etc. be able to.

In the present invention, there is no particular limitation on the method for forming the position detection mark. For example, a method of performing mechanical processing such as slits and holes on the belt, a method of transferring the mark to the belt using a transfer foil, and a colorant And a method of applying a mark to the belt. Among these, the method using a transfer foil can be preferably used because it can form a mark at an accurate position in a short time without damaging the elastic endless belt. The aluminum vapor-deposited transfer foil can be suitably used because the reflected light of the mark can be easily and accurately read by the optical sensor. Aluminum vapor-deposited transfer foil consists of a structure in which aluminum is vapor-deposited on a carrier film such as a polyester film provided with a release layer, and a heat-sensitive adhesive layer is provided on the carrier film. Can be transferred to.

In the method of the present invention, the method for forming the position detection mark on the elastic endless belt is not particularly limited. For example, the position detection mark can be formed using a transfer foil and a hot stamping machine. On the pedestal 4 of the hot stamping machine, the transfer foil 7 is pressed against the elastic endless belt 3 by the mark plate 6 attached to the hot platen 5, and the position detection mark is transferred to the surface of the elastic endless belt. The drive roller is rotated at a constant speed, and the time until the position detection mark makes a round and returns to the original position by an optical sensor (not shown), or the cumulative rotation angle of the drive roller or the driven roller during that time is obtained. The position detection mark is formed at a predetermined position on the surface of the elastic endless belt by dividing the time or the accumulated rotation angle into a predetermined ratio and forming a position detection mark for each obtained time or rotation angle. can do. For example, when the drive roller is rotated at a constant speed, the time until the position detection mark makes a round and returns to the original position is obtained, and one half of the time after the position detection mark passes through the optical sensor is When the second position detection mark is formed on the elastic endless belt when the time has elapsed, two position detection marks can be formed on the surface of the elastic endless belt at equal intervals.
According to the method of the present invention, variations in the inner peripheral length of the elastic endless belt can be absorbed, and the position detection mark can be accurately formed at a predetermined position.

Comparative Example 1
An elastic endless belt produced in the same manner as in Example 1 was stretched between the driving roller and the driven roller, and the center distance between both rollers was set to 220.5 mm. The inner peripheral length of the elastic endless belt is 503.8 mm, that is, the elongation ratio is 0.8%. In this state, a first position detection mark was formed on the elastic endless belt by a hot stamping machine. An optical sensor was installed in the vicinity of the hot stamping machine, the drive roller was rotated at a speed of one revolution per second, and the time taken for the first position detection mark to make a round and return to the same position was measured. 02 seconds.
Further, the drive roller is rotated at the same speed of one revolution per second, and after the first position detection mark passes under the optical sensor for 4.01 seconds, the second position is set on the elastic endless belt by the hot stamping machine. A detection mark was formed.
Next, assuming the state in actual use, the distance between the shafts of the driving roller and the driven roller is set to 231.1 mm, the inner peripheral length of the elastic endless belt is 525.0 mm, that is, the expansion rate is 5.0%, and the driving is performed. The roller rotation speed is 8.356 rotations per second, that is, the elastic endless belt moving speed is 525 mm / sec. The first position detection mark passes through the optical sensor, and then the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor. The time until the first position detection mark passes through the optical sensor after the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor was measured with five belts. The measured values are 0.503 seconds, 0.498 seconds, 0.502 seconds, 0.497 seconds, 0.501 seconds, 0.497 seconds, 0.501 seconds, 0.497 seconds, 0.502 seconds, 0 It was .497 seconds. The average value of the time from when the first position detection mark passes through the optical sensor to when the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor is 0.5018 seconds. The average time from the passage of the optical sensor to the passage of the first position detection mark through the optical sensor was 0.4972 seconds, and the difference was 0.0044 seconds.
The results of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 are shown in Table 1.
As can be seen from Table 1, in Example 1 in which the elastic endless belt was stretched at an elongation rate of 3.0% to form two position detection marks, the first position detection mark is an optical sensor. The average value of the time until the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor after passing through the optical sensor, and the first position detection mark passes through the optical sensor after the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor. The difference from the average value of the time until it passes through the sensor is 0.0008 seconds, and the difference between the first position detection mark and the second position detection mark is small.
On the other hand, in Comparative Example 1 in which the elastic endless belt is stretched at an extension rate of 0.8% to form two position detection marks, the first position detection mark passes through the optical sensor. From the time until the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor, and the first position detection mark passes through the optical sensor after the second position detection mark passes through the optical sensor. The difference from the average time until the first position detection mark is 0.0044 seconds, and the first position detection mark to the first position is larger than the interval from the first position detection mark to the second position detection mark. The distance to the detection mark is small, and the distance difference is large.
From this result, when the elastic endless belt of Example 1 and the elastic endless belt of Comparative Example 1 are used as the intermediate transfer belt of the full-color image forming apparatus, the elastic endless belt of Example 1 produces a high-quality image with little color misregistration. On the other hand, it is presumed that the elastic endless belt of Comparative Example 1 is likely to be a low-quality image with many color shifts.
