Description
The present invention relates to a crimp contact that crimps and clamps a wire, in particular, a crimp contact suitable for use in a waterproof connector, and a connector equipped with the contact.
In general, the structure of a conventionally known crimp contact (hereinafter simply referred to as a contact) includes a contact contact portion that is electrically and mechanically connected to a corresponding contact, and a crimp portion that is crimped and clamped to a wire. The crimping portion includes a wire barrel and an insulation barrel.
Here, the wire barrel is electrically and mechanically connected to the conducting wire, and the connection length of the wire barrel is defined in order to ensure the allowable current of the contact.
In addition, in order to ensure that the required length of the conducting wire for connection is always connected to the wire barrel, the end of the conducting wire is not aligned with the end surface of the wire barrel, but is projected from the end surface for safety design. It ’s long and aligned.
Here, when the conducting wire is crimped in a state where the long conducting wire terminal protrudes from the end surface of the wire barrel, the protruding portion of the conducting wire is unrolled, and the phenomenon of flaking occurs. When such a contact with broken conductors is used for a normal connector, the reliability in terms of quality is lowered. On the other hand, when it is used for a special application, for example, a contact of a waterproof connector, a new problem may occur in terms of performance.
That is, such a terminal of a broken conductor may pierce a sheet of, for example, a silicone rubber that is a waterproof seal and penetrate the sheet, thereby causing a problem of impairing the waterproof performance of the connector.
Here, “separation” means a state in which a plurality of strands constituting a conducting wire are unwound and are separated.
As a technique for solving this problem, a technique described in JP-A-11-135163 is known as a contact mainly used for a waterproof connector. According to the technique described herein, referring to FIG. 10, the
However, by providing the contact with an arch-like portion, the total length of the contact becomes long, and the miniaturization of the connector to which the contact is attached is hindered. Furthermore, this increases the size of the device incorporating this connector, and goes against the trend toward miniaturization of electrical, electronic products and electronic components in general.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a contact capable of crimping a conducting wire to the contact so that the end of the conducting wire does not vary without extending the total length of the contact.
In order to solve the above-described problems, in the present invention, the arch-shaped portion is not provided in the contact (without extending the total length of the contact), and the variation of the end of the conductive wire that occurs when the conductive wire is crimped to the contact is regulated. ing.
Specifically, by extending the wire barrel side wall provided in the wire barrel in the contact insertion direction and enclosing it to the end of the lead wire, the wire breakage that occurs when the lead wire is crimped to the contact is regulated. ing.
In addition, when one end of the wire barrel side wall is inclined, when the wire barrel side wall is bent so as to enclose the conducting wire during crimping, the inclination provided at the end portion A slit is formed in a part. This slit functions as an inspection window for confirming the fit of the crimped conductor.
More specifically, the present invention provides the following.
(1) A crimp contact comprising a crimping part for crimping a wire and a contact contact part connected to a corresponding contact, wherein the crimping part comprises a coating barrel for crimping the insulating coating of the wire, A crimp barrel for crimping a conductor, and the crimp barrel includes a pair of crimp barrel sidewalls that open in a substantially U shape, and the crimp barrel sidewall includes an extension portion extending forward, and the extension The extension of the crimp barrel side wall is such that the upper end of the section is inclined toward the bottom surface of the contact contact portion and the end of the conductor of the wire does not protrude from the enclosed range of the crimp barrel side wall. at least up to the terminal of the conductor of the wire, included in the enclosure range, the crimp barrel sidewall to enclose the conductor is bent inwardly, as well the extension portion, said conductor It is bent inward along the surface of the conductor so as to cover the upper surface from the side surface of the conductor, encloses the entire end of the conductor, is electrically and mechanically connected, and the state of the end of the conductor is visually recognized from above by the inclination. Crimp contact to which a conductor of a characteristic wire is connected where a possible inspection window is formed.
In the invention described in (1), when crimping the conducting wire, the crimping barrel side wall surrounds up to the end of the conducting wire, so that the conducting wire can be crimped so as not to be scattered.
In the invention described in (1), the crimp barrel side wall includes an extension portion extending forward, and the upper end portion of the extension portion is inclined toward the bottom surface of the contact contact portion. The crimping can be performed so as to enclose up to the end of the conducting wire, and at the same time, an inspection window is formed by this inclined portion, so that it is possible to confirm the fit of the end of the conducting wire. “Confirmation” includes not only visual inspection but also CCD camera and various sensors.
Here, “at least a part of the crimping barrel side wall” means that the entire surface of the crimping barrel side wall surrounds the entire lead wire, and all the ends of the lead wire are surrounded by the crimping barrel side wall, or the entire crimping barrel side wall. Including a case where a part of the wire encloses the terminal of the conductive wire.
The term “conductor” means a material through which a current flows, and a material made of metal is typical, but a material made of conductive resin or conductive rubber is also included. Further, the “conductive wire” means a linear wire through which a current flows, and includes a linear wire made of a conductive resin or conductive rubber, in addition to a so-called “electric wire” made of a metal wire.
Here, “inclination” means an angle of less than 90 degrees with respect to the horizontal line, and includes an inclination composed of a combination of two or more straight lines having different inclinations in addition to an inclination composed of one straight line. . [Inclination] means a curve having a single curvature, and also a curve formed by a combination of two or more curves having different curvatures.
(2) The crimp contact according to (1) , wherein a through hole is provided at a position where a terminal position of the crimped conductor can be confirmed on the bottom surface of the crimp barrel .
In the invention described in (2) , since the inspection through-hole is provided, it can be crimped so as to surround the end of the conducting wire, and at the same time, the end of the conducting wire is accommodated from the inspection window (through-hole). You can check the condition.
Here, the “through hole” means a hole penetrating a part of the wall surface of the crimping barrel, and includes a case where the entire wall surface or a part of the entire surface is mesh-shaped. The shape of the through hole includes an ellipse, a square, a rectangle and the like in addition to a circle. Further, the number of through holes may be one, or two or more.
Here, a copper alloy is generally used for the contact member, but the contact member is not limited to this. It may be an aluminum alloy or an iron-based metal, and further may be a conductive resin obtained by kneading conductive particles such as gold, silver or graphite in a matrix material, or a conductive rubber.
例えば、PVD(physical vaper deposition)のスパッタリングや、CVD(chemical vaper deposition)によるものであってもよい。 Further, the surface of the contact is generally treated with tin plating, but is not limited thereto. Solder plating may be used, or the surface may be processed by a surface treatment method other than plating. For example, PVD (physical vapor deposition) sputtering or CVD (chemical vapor deposition) may be used. Further, the surface treatment such as plating may not be performed.
According to the present invention, it is possible to crimp the lead wire on the side wall of the wire barrel so that the end of the lead wire is not scattered without newly providing an arch-shaped portion in the middle of the wire barrel and the contact portion on the same axis. At the same time, it can be confirmed through the inspection window that the connecting length of the conductive wire necessary to ensure the allowable current is crimped to the wire barrel.
Therefore, since the variation of the conductive wire is regulated, a contact suitable as a contact of the waterproof connector can be provided.
Hereinafter, the best mode for carrying out the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
First, a first embodiment of the present invention will be described. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the crimp contact 10 (hereinafter simply referred to as the contact 10) is punched out from a flat plate of a copper alloy whose surface is tin-plated, and then subjected to processing such as bending sequentially. It is obtained by applying.
The
Here, the “coating barrel” used in the present invention is a portion for fixing the
A
As described above, the
Next, the
In general, since the
On the other hand, in the embodiment according to the present invention, the wire
That is, by providing slopes 15a and 15a on a part of the upper end sides of the wire
Therefore, the ends of the wire
Next, the
Further, locking

The crimping operation is completed according to this series of procedures, and the
Next, a second embodiment for carrying out the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
The material constituting the
Next, the
The
Next, the wire barrel base 52a receives the
At this time, as described above, the minimum value of the connection length between the
In this embodiment, the
