Description
The present invention relates to a technique for monitoring the remaining amount of liquid ink, ink ribbon, toner and other image forming materials in a printing apparatus and outputting the status.
Many techniques for monitoring the remaining amount of ink or toner in a cartridge mounted on a printing apparatus and executing various processes in accordance with the remaining amount state have been proposed. For example, the ink remaining amount in the cartridge, when it is determined that less than a reference value, to indicate that a small ink remaining amount display unit of the printer, a technique for alerting a user has been proposed (e.g., Patent Reference 1).
By the way, whenever the remaining amount of the image forming material such as ink, ink ribbon, and toner in the printing apparatus becomes a predetermined state (below the predetermined amount), the fact that the state has been output is output to the user. This is preferable in this respect. However, there may be a case where the remaining amount of the image forming material is output a plurality of times and the user does not need to understand the state.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a status monitor program capable of realizing a new output method for outputting the remaining amount of image forming material in a printing apparatus, an information processing apparatus that executes the status program, and a printing apparatus. .
The present invention was made in view of the conventional problem, whether to output the information indicating the remaining amount of each of the image forming material in the printing device, a storage device that houses the image forming material, non-printing device The control is performed in accordance with the number of mounted storage devices .

According to this, when the number of containers that are not loaded in the printing apparatus is the first number, the second unit that indicates that the remaining amount of the image forming material is in the second state. 2 information is not output, and therefore the number of times of output of information indicating the remaining amount of the image forming material can be reduced.
Further, when the image forming material is stored in the storage device and the number of storage devices not attached to the printing apparatus is the second number different from the first number, the remaining amount of the image forming material is in the second state. 2nd information which shows can be output appropriately. The
In addition, the image forming material is stored in the storage device, and the number of storage devices not attached to the printing apparatus can be appropriately managed. In addition, when the number of storage devices decreases, the number of storage devices registered in the database automatically decreases, so the management burden on the user can be reduced.
The second problem solving means is a status monitor program of the first problem solving means, wherein the residual state detecting means is configured to determine whether the remaining amount of the image forming material detected by the remaining amount detecting sensor is the first remaining amount detecting means. Including the function of detecting that the state is the first state, the second state of the first type, and the second state of the second type. A first type of output designation for designating that the second type of second information is output to the output means when the condition 3, the condition 4 and the condition 6 below are satisfied when unordered is selected; Or a function for obtaining a second type of output designation for designating that the second type of second information is output to the output means when the condition 3, the condition 4 and the following condition 7 are satisfied; and the selection Order of the container was selected by means A function of not acquiring the first type of output designation and the second type of output designation, and the output control means includes the condition 3, the following condition 6, the condition 4, the condition 5, and If the following condition 8 is satisfied, the first type second information is output to the output means, and the condition 3, the condition 7, the condition 4, the condition 5, and the condition 9 are satisfied. In this case, it is a status monitor program including a function for outputting the second type second information to the output means .

Condition 7: the second state is the second state of the second type
Condition 8: The output specification is the first type output specification
Condition 9: The output designation is the second type of output designation.
A third problem solving means is a status monitor program of the first problem solving means, wherein the command acquisition means is configured to select the condition 3 and the condition when the unordered container is selected by the selection means. A function that does not acquire the output designation when the condition 4 is satisfied, and the output control means does not output the second information to the output means when the condition 3, the condition 4, and the following condition 10 are satisfied. This is a status monitor program including functions .
Condition 10: the output is not being acquired by the instruction acquiring means
According to this, when the number of containers that are not loaded in the printing apparatus is a second number that is different from the first number, the remaining amount of the image forming material is in the second state. It is possible to specify whether or not to output the second information indicating that it is, and appropriate output according to the specified state can be realized .
Fourth problem solving means is a scan stator scan monitor program of the second means for solving problems, the first number is a storage device number of 1 or more, the second number is a storage device number of 0, The first state is a state where the remaining amount of the image forming material is substantially zero, and the first type second state is a state where the remaining amount of the image forming material is larger than the first state . The two types of second states are characterized in that the remaining amount of the image forming material is larger than the first state and the first type second state .
This enables the image forming material Ri pods der housing the, if the number of non-attachment of the pods to the printing device is one or more, in other words, as stock retract and instrument not mounted, for example, When the image forming material is owned (stored), the image forming material is not output until the remaining amount of the image forming material becomes substantially zero. Therefore, the number of times of output of the information indicating the remaining amount of the image forming material can be reduced. Incidentally, if you have a retract and instrument not mounted in inventory, the remaining amount is substantially 0 in the image forming material, even becomes impossible printing, it is possible to appropriately correspond with the pods stock .

The

(Driver program installation process)
FIG. 2 shows a flow of driver program installation processing. Along with the installation of the
The
On the other hand, when the printer driver is selected in S102 (the printer driver is included) (S102: Yes), the
When the user selects one of the
If the
Figure 4 is a diagram showing an ink remaining amount display timing selection screen displayed on the
If the
When the purchase quantity data is received (S112: Yes), the
To describe S116 in detail, when the determination of S106 has been denied (S106: No), the
If the determination in S106 is affirmative (S106: Yes), the
Note that the

(Ink cartridge replacement process)
FIG. 5 shows a flow of ink cartridge replacement processing. This process is based on the
First, the
In step S <b> 204, the
Thereafter, the
(Remaining ink display process)
FIG. 7 shows a flow of the remaining ink amount display process. This process is also based on the
First, after starting the printer status monitor program, the
In step S304, the
(S308:No)。 The determination in S308 will be described in detail. For example, the remaining ink amount received in S302 and stored in the RAM is 10% remaining, and “when the ink remaining amount display timing becomes 10% or less” is acquired in S304. If yes, the determination in S308 is affirmed (S308: Yes). Further, when the ink remaining amount received in S302 and stored in the RAM is approximately 0%, and “almost gone (approximately 0)” is acquired as the ink remaining amount display timing in S304, the process proceeds to S308. The determination is affirmed (S308: Yes). On the other hand, when the remaining amount of ink received in S302 and stored in the RAM is 40%, and “when it becomes 10% or less” is acquired as the remaining ink amount display timing in S304, the determination in S308 is performed. Is denied (S308: No ). If the remaining amount of ink received in S302 and stored on the RAM is 10%, and “substantially disappeared (substantially 0)” is acquired as the remaining ink amount display timing in S304, the process proceeds to S308. The determination is denied (S308: No ).
Note that the remaining ink level display timing read from the
In addition, as described above, the
In S310, the
The ink remaining
The

(Modification)
The configuration of the present embodiment described above can be configured as follows, and the same advantageous effect as that of the present embodiment described above can be obtained by the configuration of this modification.
(1) In the above description, the configuration in which the ink remaining amount is displayed on the

(3) In the above description, the ink as the image forming material has been described as being stored in the
(4) In the above description, the configuration in which each process is executed by the
In the configuration of the modified example (4), the printer driver installation process shown in FIG. 2 is executed as follows. That is, in the configuration of the modification (4), S102 in FIG. 2 is omitted. That is, the
Also, S200, S202, S300, and S302 in FIG. 7 are omitted. In other words, the target device for each inquiry is the
(5) In the driver program installation process shown in FIG. 2 described above, when the unmounted quantity is 1 or more (see S106 in FIG. 2: Yes, S114), S108 (see FIG. 2) is not executed, in other words. For example, the configuration in which S108 is executed only when the unmounted quantity becomes 0 (106 in FIG. 2: No, S114 not executed) is adopted. However, for example, when the purchase quantity is small and the unmounted quantity registered in the
According to the configuration of the modification (5), for example, when the unmounted quantity “1” is registered in the database 1210 (S106: Yes in FIG. 2), the ink remaining amount display timing is received. Specifically, for example, a screen including information included in the remaining ink amount display
(6) In the ink remaining amount display process shown in FIG. 5 described above, S208 is executed after S206, and this process is terminated. However, after the execution of S206, when the unmounted quantity becomes 0 (the
In the configuration of the modification example (6), for example, the
(7) In the ink remaining amount display process shown in FIG. 7 described above, the process is terminated after S318. However, after executing S318, the same process as S108 of the printer driver installation process shown in FIG. 2 may be executed, and thereafter, the same process as S116 of FIG. 2 may be executed. That is, in the ink remaining amount display process shown in FIG. 7, the ink remaining amount display timing can be selected, and the selected ink remaining amount display timing can be registered in the database 1210 (see FIG. 1). In this case, the ink remaining amount display timing registered in S116 of FIG. 2 is updated to the new ink remaining amount display timing selected in the ink remaining amount display process of FIG. Then, the
