Description
The present invention relates to a display device having an input function such as a touch panel, and more particularly to a display device having an optical input function for inputting information from a display screen by light.
The liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate on which signal lines, scanning lines, thin film transistors (TFTs), and the like are formed, and a drive circuit that drives the signal lines and the scanning lines. In recent years, with the improvement of integrated circuit technology, a thin film transistor and a part of a driving circuit can be formed on an array substrate using a polycrystalline silicon (polysilicon) process. As a result, the liquid crystal display device is miniaturized and widely used as a display device in portable devices such as mobile phones and notebook computers.
By the way, when performing the contact determination described above, when the illuminance of the ambient light is high, an image with a high SN ratio is obtained when the finger portion close to the display screen is dark and the other portions are bright. On the other hand, when the illuminance of the ambient light is low, a part of the light emitted from the display screen is reflected by the interface reflection of a protective plate or the like arranged on the display screen side of the display device. The part is bright and the other part is an intermediate brightness image. Therefore, when the illuminance of the ambient light is low, the contact coordinates can be detected by calculating the barycentric coordinates of the bright part of the captured image.
However, when the contact coordinates are obtained by calculating the barycentric coordinates of the bright part reflected by the light emitted from the display screen, the intensity of the light emitted from the display screen differs depending on the brightness of the displayed image. In some cases, the intensity of the brightness of the current image affects the captured image, and the contact coordinates to be obtained may deviate from the contact position of the finger.
The present invention has been made in view of the above, and an object thereof is to provide a display device having a light input function that operates more accurately in a wide range of ambient light from a dark place to a bright place. There is.

A display device according to the first aspect of the present invention includes:
Display means for displaying an image on a display screen, light input means for picking up an object close to the display screen, and image processing means for obtaining contact coordinates where the object contacts the display screen based on a picked-up image picked up by the light input means And light intensity measuring means for detecting the intensity of external light, and the image processing means changes the method of detecting contact coordinates according to the intensity of external light and responds to an image displayed on the display screen. The range of the captured image to be processed is changed, and the display means changes the color of the image corresponding to the range of the captured image to be processed according to the intensity of external light .
In the present invention, by providing a light intensity measuring means for detecting the intensity of external light, a method for detecting contact coordinates in accordance with the intensity of external light can be performed. Coordinates can be detected .
In the present invention, in a display device that captures an image of an object close to a display screen that displays an image, by changing the range of the captured image for obtaining contact coordinates according to the image displayed on the display screen, Since the influence by the display image can be suppressed, it is possible to more accurately detect the contact coordinates based on the captured image .
The display device includes a backlight that makes light incident on the display means, and a backlight control means that controls the light intensity of the backlight according to the intensity of external light detected by the light intensity measuring means. And
In the present invention, by providing the backlight control means for controlling the intensity of the backlight according to the intensity of the external light, when the intensity of the external light is weak, the intensity of the backlight is reduced. By doing so, it is possible to suppress glare and reduce the influence of the reflection of the display image in the captured image.
In the display device, the protective plate is attached to the display screen through a member having the same refractive index as the protective plate.
In the present invention, the interface reflection light on the protection plate can be suppressed by attaching the protection plate to the display screen via a member having the same refractive index as that of the protection plate. It is possible to reduce the influence of the error and to detect the contact coordinates more accurately.
Here, it is desirable to have antireflection means on the surface of the protective plate that is not attached to the display screen in order to further suppress reflected light and improve the visibility of the display screen.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the display apparatus provided with the light input function which operate | moves more correctly in the wide range of environmental light from a dark place to a bright place can be provided.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of a display device in this embodiment. The display device in the present embodiment includes a
FIG. 2 is a plan view showing the configuration of the
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing the configuration of the
In addition, a plurality of signal lines and a plurality of scanning lines are arranged in a matrix on the
The
The backlight control unit 3 controls the intensity of light emitted from the
The
The image
The illuminance measurement unit 6 measures the intensity of external light. By changing the method of detecting contact coordinates according to the intensity of external light measured by the illuminance measuring unit 6, it is possible to detect the contact coordinates where the intensity of external light is strong and where the intensity of external light is weak It becomes. The intensity of outside light may be measured using an optical sensor for measuring illuminance, or a numerical value corresponding to the intensity of outside light may be obtained from image data picked up by the
The imaging control unit 7 controls the optimal exposure time and precharge time with the
The liquid crystal panel luminance control unit 8 controls the luminance of the
The image
4 and 5 are diagrams illustrating captured images obtained when the imaging target is a finger. FIG. 4 shows an image captured when the external light intensity is relatively high, and FIG. 5 shows an image captured when the external light intensity is relatively low. When the intensity of outside light is strong, the amount of received external light that is not shielded by the object to be imaged is large, and the amount of light received by the part that is shielded by the object to be imaged is small. As shown in FIG. It is dark and the other parts are bright. When the intensity of the external light is weak, the amount of light received in the portion that receives the light reflected by the imaging target is large and the amount of light received in the other portion is small, so that the finger touches the
FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating an image displayed on the liquid crystal panel and a range of captured images to be processed according to the image. FIG. 4A is a diagram in which buttons and icons are displayed on the entire surface of the
Here,
In addition, when the intensity of external light is high, it is desirable to use an image color with low transmittance in the portion indicated by
