Description
The present invention relates to a casting method and apparatus.
Polymer films (hereinafter referred to as “films”) are widely used as optical functional films because of their features such as excellent light transmittance, flexibility, and light weight thinning. Among them, cellulose ester films using cellulose acylate have toughness and low birefringence, and therefore, the composition of liquid crystal display devices (LCDs) that have recently expanded in the market including photographic photosensitive films. It is used as a protective film or an optical compensation film for a polarizing plate as a member.
Main film production methods include a melt extrusion method and a solution casting method. The melt extrusion method is a method in which a polymer is heated and dissolved as it is, and then extruded with an extruder to produce a film, which has features such as high productivity and relatively low equipment cost. However, it is difficult to adjust the film thickness accuracy, and because fine lines (die lines) can be formed on the film, it is difficult to produce a high-quality film that can be used for optical functional films. is there. On the other hand, the solution casting method is a method in which a cast film formed by casting a polymer solution (dope) containing a polymer and a solvent on a support has self-supporting properties. The wet film is peeled off to form a wet film, and the wet film is further dried to form a film. Compared with the melt extrusion method, it is superior in optical isotropy and thickness uniformity, and can obtain a film with less contained foreign substances. Therefore, optical functional films for LCD applications are mainly produced by a solution casting method. ing.
This solution casting method prepares a polymer solution (hereinafter referred to as a dope) in which a polymer such as cellulose triacetate is dissolved in a mixed solvent containing dichloromethane or methyl acetate as a main solvent. Furthermore, a predetermined additive is mixed with this dope to prepare a casting dope. A casting bead is formed by a casting die from a casting die and cast on a support such as a casting drum or an endless band to form a casting film (hereinafter referred to as a casting process). After the cast film is cooled on the support and becomes self-supporting, it is peeled off from the support as a film (hereinafter referred to as a wet film), and the wet film is dried. Is wound up as a film.
By the way, in order to respond to the significant increase in demand for liquid crystal display devices and the like in recent years, establishment of a solution casting method with high production efficiency is required. Considering from the viewpoint of improving production efficiency, it is well known that the casting process is rate-limiting for speeding up the solution casting method. In order to increase the speed of the solution casting method, the traveling speed of the support is increased, and the decompression means such as a decompression chamber is used to reduce the pressure on the back side of the casting bead (hereinafter referred to as the decompression zone) This is a well-known technique.
When the gap between the support and the decompression chamber changes, the pressure in the decompression chamber fluctuates, the dope landing point fluctuates, the casting film thickness becomes non-uniform, Adhesiveness between the support surface and the casting bead is lowered, and air may be mixed between the casting membrane and the support surface. When these occur, the film quality deteriorates, which is a problem. For this reason, in Patent Document 1, when the gap between the support and the decompression chamber is detected and becomes a set value or less, the decompression chamber is moved so that the gap between the support and the decompression chamber becomes greater than the set value. There has been proposed a resin film manufacturing apparatus.
However, when manufacturing a wide film of 2 m or more, the width of the decompression chamber and the labyrinth seal is accordingly 2 m or more, so that the labyrinth seal hangs under its own weight. Due to the sagging, the gap between the support and the labyrinth seal changes, so that the pressure in the decompression chamber fluctuates and the film quality is deteriorated. In addition, since the amount of sag of the labyrinth seal fluctuates over time, it is difficult to adjust the positioning of the labyrinth seal in consideration of the sag, and the time required for the adjustment becomes longer, resulting in reduced production efficiency. was there.
Further, when the labyrinth seal hangs down greatly, the labyrinth seal may come into contact with the support surface, and the support surface may be damaged. When the dope is cast on a support having a damaged surface, the scratches are transferred to the film and cause unevenness in the optical properties of the film.
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problem, and provides a casting method and apparatus capable of adjusting the amount of sag due to the self-weight of the labyrinth seal to make the gap between the support and the labyrinth seal constant. The purpose is to provide.

In a casting apparatus that forms a casting film on the support by the cast beat, and decompresses the upstream side of the cast beat in the support travel direction by the decompression chamber, the decompression chamber and the support A labyrinth seal part attached to the decompression chamber between the labyrinth seal part, and the labyrinth seal part and the decompression chamber; comprising of a sealing gap adjusting unit for the sealing gap constant, and the sealing gap adjusting unit takes between the decompression chamber and the labyrinth seal portion And an adjustment bolt that finely adjusts the seal gap with the support by pulling the labyrinth seal portion upward by rotation, and a bolt attachment that has a support hole that is fixed to the decompression chamber and supports the adjustment bolt It has a bracket and an internal thread part which is formed in the labyrinth seal part and in which the adjustment bolt is screwed together.

Examples of the material constituting the sealing plate include MC nylon (registered trademark), stainless steel, Teflon (registered trademark), and the like.
Furthermore, it is preferable that the labyrinth seal portion is attached to the decompression chamber with a cantilever structure. Furthermore, it is preferable to provide a plurality of the seal gap adjusting portions.
According to the present invention, the amount of sag due to the self-weight of the labyrinth seal part is adjusted, and the seal gap between the support and the labyrinth seal part is made constant.
As shown in FIG. 1, the film production line 10 includes a
The

In the
As shown in FIG. 2, an
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
In the casting process, the dope 21 flows out from the casting die 30 to the

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the
When the casting
The
As shown in FIG. 4, the
The
The
The seal
As shown in FIG. 4, the seal
The
A mounting
The
The
Similarly, the
The
As shown in FIG. 6, the
Returning to FIG. 1, a
In the
Both ends of the film 20 fed from the clip tenter 14 are cut by the edge-cutting
The film 20 whose both ends have been cut by the
Inside the winding
Next, the operation of the film production line 10 configured as described above will be described. When the
Next, as shown in FIG. 6, the
As described above, the adjustment gap 62 is rotated to adjust the seal gap G by adjusting the sagging due to the dead weight of the
Further, since the seal gap G can be kept constant by adjusting the sag of the
Furthermore, by keeping the seal gap G constant, the amount of the accompanying air flowing into the
Further, by suppressing the pressure fluctuation inside the
Furthermore, since the seal gap G can be kept constant, it is not necessary to provide a sensor or the like for detecting the seal gap G, and the cost can be reduced compared to a film production line provided with an expensive sensor.
In addition, since a plurality of seal
Further, since each
In the above-described embodiment, the embodiment has been described in which the hanging of the
Further, the present invention only needs to be able to adjust the sag due to the own weight of each
Furthermore, when casting dopes, simultaneous lamination co-casting in which two or more types of dopes are simultaneously co-cast and laminated, or sequential lamination co-casting in which multiple dopes are sequentially co-cast and laminated It can be performed. In addition, you may combine both casting. When performing simultaneous lamination and co-casting, a casting die to which a feed block is attached may be used, or a multi-manifold casting die may be used. However, it is preferable that at least one of the thickness of the layer on the air surface side and the thickness of the layer on the support side is 0.5 to 30% of the thickness of the entire film of the film composed of multiple layers by co-casting. . In addition, when performing simultaneous lamination and co-casting, it is preferable that the high-viscosity dope is enveloped by the low-viscosity dope when the dope is cast from the die slit to the support, and is formed from the die slit to the support. Of the casting beads, the dope in contact with the outside world preferably has a higher alcohol composition ratio than the inner dope.
