この発明は、フィルム液晶装置を表示部材として用い、そのフィルム液晶装置を湾曲状態でケースに組み付けた場合でも視認性の低下を防止できる携帯電子機器に関する。

【従来の技術】
最近はフィルム液晶装置を湾曲してケース内に設置して、表示面を湾曲した状態で保持する構成の腕時計、その他の携帯電子機器が普及を始めている。このようなフィルム液晶装置を湾曲してケース内に支持する手法としては、例えば特開平6−66969号公報に記載の腕時計の構造が知られている。係る腕時計の構造では、時計ケースの上部からフィルム液晶装置を組み込む構造となっており、前記時計ケースに湾曲した支持面を有する凹部が形成されており、この凹部の湾曲支持面に沿ってフィルム液晶装置を湾曲させ、この湾曲状態を維持して固定される。

また、ケースの凹部の内周面には段部が形成されており、この段部の高さはフィルム液晶装置よりも若干高くなるように形成されており、この段部に対してガラス面等の表示用透明部材をフィルム液晶装置の上から組み込み、フィルム液晶装置を表示用透明部材とケースの支持面とで挟み込み固定する。これにより、前記フィルム液晶装置と表示用透明部材とが一定の間隙を保って表示用透明部材が固定され、腕時計の薄型化を実現する。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来の腕時計の構造では、フィルム液晶装置と表示用透明部材とが一定の間隙をもって固定されているため、表示が奥目(「奥目」は定義するのが好ましいと思います)になってしまい、表示内容の視認性が低下するという問題点があった。なお、「奥目」とは、ケースに設けられたガラス等を通して表示される数字や文字を見たときに、それらの数字等がそのガラスに対して奥に配置してあると認識できる程度をいう。

そこで、この発明は、上記に鑑みてなされたものであって、湾曲してケースに組み付けた状態でフィルム液晶装置の表示内容の視認性を向上できる携帯電子機器を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記のような観点から、この発明の携帯電子機器は、複数の固定穴を有するフィルム液晶装置と、前記固定穴に対応する位置に案内突起を有し、少なくとも内面が湾曲した形状の表示用透明部材とを備え、フィルム液晶装置の固定穴に案内突起を通し前記案内突起を固定穴に対して固定し、この状態でケース内に収容するものである。

フィルム液晶装置を表示用透明部材の湾曲に沿って固定するにあたり、表示用透明部材に設けた案内突起をフィルム液晶装置の固定穴に通して固定することで、フィルム液晶装置が湾曲状態で且つ表示用透明部材に対して極小の隙間をもって固定される。また、好ましい態様では、フィルム液晶装置がギャップ変化を起こすことなく、表示用透明部材の内側面に当接して固定される。これにより、フィルム液晶装置の表示内容が奥目になるのを抑制できるから、高い視認性を保つことができる。なお、案内突起と固定穴との固定方法は、かしめやしまりばめ等の公知のものを適宜選択して用いることができる。

実施の形態1
図1は、この発明の実施の形態1に係る腕時計を示す組立図である。この腕時計100は、表示用透明部材1と、フィルム液晶装置2と、ELパネル3と、回路ブロック4と、機器ケース5とから主に構成されている。表示用透明部材1は、ガラスや透明樹脂等から構成される。また、表示用透明部材1は、フィルム液晶装置2のアクティブエリアに対応する部分が透明の表示領域となり、その周囲がフィルム液晶装置2の受台11となる。受台11には、複数の案内ピン12が一体形成され、表示用透明部材1の内側湾曲面の山頂部13に対応する位置に一対設けられ、その山頂部13の両側の裾野部分14にそれぞれ一対設けられている。案内ピン12は段部を有し、大径部分12aをフィルム液晶装置2の固定用に、小径部分12bをELパネル3の固定用に使用する。

なお、案内ピン12は表示用透明部材1と一体成形しなくても、後付け可能である。一方、フィルム液晶装置2のアクティブエリアの周囲には、複数のカシメ穴21が設けられている。このカシメ穴21は、上記案内ピン12にそれぞれ対応する位置に穿孔され、その穴径は案内ピン12の大径部分12aが遊嵌できる程度とするのが好ましい。更に、フィルム液晶装置2の背面にはELパネル3が配置され、前記ELパネル3の周囲にも前記案内ピン12に対応したカシメ穴31が複数形成されている。なお、バックライトは、ELパネル3に限定されず、湾曲成形した導光板とLED等の光源とから構成したものであってもよい(図示省略)。この場合は、導光板の周囲にカシメ穴を穿孔すればよい。

次に、この腕時計100の組み立て工程を説明する。先ず、表示用透明部材1の案内ピン12の大径部分12aがフィルム液晶装置2のカシメ穴21を貫通するようにし、フィルム液晶装置2を湾曲させながら、表示用透明部材1とフィルム液晶装置2との位置合わせを行いつつ取り付ける。続いて、ELパネル3のカシメ穴31に前記案内ピン12の小径部分12bが貫通するようにELパネル3の位置合わせを行い、このELパネル3のカシメ穴31を通った案内ピン12の先端を熱カシメする。これにより、ELパネル3とフィルム液晶装置2が表示用透明部材1に対して固定される。固定した状態を図2の斜視図に示す。

また、フィルム液晶装置2を湾曲させた状態で湾曲頂部22が表示用透明部材1の内面の山形頂部13にて固定され、その両側の裾野部23において更に固定されている。このように、フィルム液晶装置2の湾曲頂部22および裾野部23で固定することで、組立時にフィルム液晶装置2に無理な力が加わるのが防止され、ギャップムラの発生が防止される。フィルム液晶装置2およびELパネル3を表示用透明部材1に固定した状態で、表示用透明部材1とフィルム液晶装置2との間隙は表示用透明部材1の受台11の高さで規制され、両者の間隙が極小に保たれる。この結果、フィルム液晶装置2の表示内容が奥目になることなく、その視認性を向上できる。また、フィルム液晶装置2の製造精度にばらつきが生じた場合は、従来の構造では表示用透明部材1との間隙が不均一になっていたが、案内ピン12により固定することでフィルム液晶装置2の厚みにばらつきが生じていても、狙った曲率に湾曲させやすく、より視認性が高まる。

なお、フィルム液晶装置2とELパネル3との間隙は、案内ピン12の大径部分12aの高さにより規制され、前記高さがフィルム液晶装置2の厚さより小さければフィルム液晶装置2とELパネル3とは密着状態で固定され、前記高さがフィルム液晶装置2の厚さより大きければその差分の間隙をもってフィルム液晶装置2とELパネル3とが固定される。フィルム液晶装置2およびELパネル3を固定した後は、回路ブロック4と共に時計ケース5内に収納する。

実施の形態2
図5は、この発明の実施の形態2に係る腕時計を示す組立図である。この腕時計200は、上記同様、表示用透明部材201と、フィルム液晶装置202と、ELパネル203と、回路ブロック4と、機器ケース5とから主に構成されている。表示用透明部材201の背面には、フィルム液晶装置202の側部221を嵌め込む溝211を有するレール体212が形成されている。また、レール体212にはフィルム液晶装置2021用の溝211に沿って、ELパネル203の側部231を嵌め込む溝213が形成されている。
