【0043】

A high-pressure pump device having at least two high-pressure pumps, a control device for controlling an injection pressure formed in the high-pressure accumulator, and a fuel for injecting fuel from the high-pressure accumulator into a plurality of combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine The present invention relates to a direct injection type internal combustion engine including a fuel metering system having a plurality of fuel injection valves.
[0004]
The invention further relates to a control device for such a direct injection internal combustion engine.
[0005]
Direct-injection internal combustion engines of the type mentioned at the outset with the fuel metering system mentioned at the outset are known from the prior art, for example in the form of direct-injection (GDI) internal combustion engines. . The fuel metering system has a prefeed pump, usually formed as an electric fuel pump, which pumps fuel from the fuel reserve tank to the low pressure region of the fuel metering system. This fuel is pumped from the low pressure region into the high pressure accumulator at high pressure by the high pressure pump device of the fuel metering system. The high-pressure accumulator is formed as a distribution rail of a common rail (CR) type fuel metering system, for example. A plurality of injection valves are branched from the high pressure accumulator, and fuel can be injected from the high pressure accumulator into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine through these injection valves. These injection valves are controlled by a control device of the internal combustion engine. The control device further has a role of controlling the injection pressure formed in the high-pressure accumulator through a pressure control circuit in a closed loop. The increase in injection pressure can be realized by appropriate control of the high-pressure pump device, that is, by increasing the amount of fuel supplied into the high-pressure accumulator. The reduction of the injection pressure can be realized by appropriate control of the control valve branched from the high-pressure accumulator, that is, by increasing the fuel outflow amount from the high-pressure accumulator, or by reducing the pumping output of the high-pressure pump. The control valve is formed as a quantity control valve (in the case of a one-cylinder piston high-pressure pump) or a pressure control valve (in the case of a three-cylinder radial piston high-pressure pump), for example.
[0006]
In the case of internal combustion engines with four or fewer cylinders or with a relatively small stroke chamber, the high-pressure pump device generally has only one high-pressure pump. This high-pressure pump may be formed, for example, as a one-cylinder piston pump or a three-cylinder radial piston pump. With this single high-pressure pump, an internal combustion engine with 4 or fewer than 4 cylinders or an internal combustion engine with a relatively small stroke chamber has a confidence in the required fuel quantity for the combustion chamber in all operating states of the internal combustion engine. A good supply can be secured.
[0007]
However, in the case of an internal combustion engine with a relatively large stroke chamber or an internal combustion engine with 6 or more cylinders, it is no longer possible to ensure a reliable fuel supply with only one high-pressure pump. I know it will be possible. Therefore, it is known in the prior art to divide the fuel metering system into two separate fuel circuits which are independent of each other. In order to make both fuel circuits independent from each other, it is necessary to provide two high-pressure accumulators and two pressure control circuits, and these high-pressure accumulators and pressure control circuits include It must be controlled by a control device and coordinated specifically. Both fuel circuits have their own high-pressure pumps, and each of these high-pressure pumps is controlled via a dedicated pressure control circuit. Dividing the fuel metering system into two fuel circuits in this way is based on the known prior art and is a six-cylinder internal combustion engine (in this case, each fuel circuit supplies fuel to the combustion chambers of three cylinders, respectively). And 8-cylinder internal combustion engines where each fuel circuit is responsible for supplying fuel to the combustion chambers of four cylinders. Solutions for ensuring a reliable fuel supply in an internal combustion engine with a relatively large stroke chamber or with 6 or more than 6 cylinders, known from the prior art, are This is an expensive and expensive system.
[0008]
A common rail (CR) fuel metering system of the type mentioned at the outset is known, based on the German patent application DE 198 23 039 A, with a prefeed pump and a high-pressure pump.
[0009]
Furthermore, pump devices with a plurality of pump pistons are known from another area of automotive technology, in particular the areas of brake systems and active chassis systems. That is, for example, from German Patent No. 4041800, a two-piston pump formed as an axial piston pump for use in a brake system with an anti-lock brake function is known, the two-piston pumps being parallel to each other. It has two pump pistons arranged. EP-A-04488836 discloses a reciprocating piston pump for pumping liquid used in a vehicle brake device. This reciprocating piston pump is formed as a radial piston pump with two pump pistons located diametrically opposite each other. Furthermore, from DE 40 27 794 A, a radial piston pump used for supplying energy in a vehicle hydraulic system (anti-lock brake system ABS, traction control system ASR, active chassis control system) is known. It is. What is common to all of these known pump devices is that a strong mechanical coupling is formed between the individual pump pistons, making it impossible to intentionally operate the individual pump pistons. That is. Therefore, all of these pump devices must be regarded as a single pump.
[0010]
The object of the present invention is to ensure a reliable fuel supply that is structurally simple and as cheap as possible, especially in internal combustion engines with four or more than four cylinders or with large stroke chambers. It is.
[0011]
In order to solve this problem, in the method of the present invention, in the method of the type described at the beginning, the fuel metering system is provided with one fuel circuit for metering fuel into all the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine. All the high-pressure pumps are arranged in the one fuel circuit, and all the high-pressure pumps are controlled independently from each other through one common pressure control circuit.
[0012]
Advantages of the invention
That is, according to the present invention, the fuel metering system is not distributed to a plurality of fuel circuits, but is provided with only one fuel circuit for metering fuel into all the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine. All the high-pressure pumps of the high-pressure pump device are arranged in this one fuel circuit. The fuel metering system according to the invention advantageously has two high-pressure pumps. The high-pressure pump used may be formed as a standard type pump as is known per se from the prior art, for example a one-cylinder piston pump or a three-cylinder radial piston pump. The control unit of the fuel metering system controls all the high-pressure pumps separately and independently from one another via one common pressure control circuit. Only one high pressure accumulator is arranged in the fuel circuit. The injection pressure of this high pressure accumulator can be controlled by a single pressure control circuit. As a result, the method according to the invention can be realized in a particularly simple and inexpensive manner.
[0013]
Furthermore, with the method according to the invention, it is possible to ensure a reliable fuel supply to the combustion chamber, especially in an internal combustion engine having a relatively large stroke chamber or an internal combustion engine having four or more than four cylinders. it can.
[0014]
The high-pressure pump pumps the fuel into one common high-pressure accumulator, so that the injection pressure formed in the high-pressure accumulator can be easily controlled using only one pressure control circuit. Only the final stage for controlling the high-pressure pump needs to be formed twice. At the same time, the use of the method according to the invention avoids the complex structure of the fuel metering system in a non-symmetric firing sequence.
[0015]
In an advantageous refinement of the method according to the invention, it is proposed to control the high-pressure pumps parallel to one another, ie in phase with one another. That is, the high-pressure pump is controlled synchronously and performs the suction stroke and the discharge stroke simultaneously.
[0016]
As an alternative, in another advantageous refinement of the method according to the invention, the one or more first high-pressure pumps are reversed in relation to the one or more second high-pressure pumps, i.e. opposite to each other. It is proposed to control the phase. The first high-pressure pump and the second high-pressure pump perform the suction stroke and the discharge stroke in phases shifted from each other. That is, when the first high-pressure pump is in the suction stroke, the second high-pressure pump is in the discharge stroke, and conversely, when the first high-pressure pump is in the discharge stroke, the second high-pressure pump is in the suction stroke. The advantage of this refinement is that the different pressure levels of successive injections can be significantly reduced. This is because post-pumping is evenly distributed. Another advantage is that a simple diagnosis of the high pressure pump is possible by monitoring the course of the injection pressure formed in the high pressure accumulator.
[0017]
In a further advantageous refinement of the method according to the invention, it is proposed to control these high-pressure pumps with the same control time in order to carry out control without wasting resources by the control device. That is, the control time is calculated only once for all high-pressure pumps of the fuel metering system in the controller. The individual high pressure pumps are then controlled via the switching device. The switching device switches between the first high-pressure pump and the second high-pressure pump at an appropriate time or at an appropriate angular position of the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. Thus, the first high-pressure pump and the second high-pressure pump can be controlled alternately using the same control time.
[0018]
Furthermore, in order to solve the above-described problems, the fuel metering system of the present invention has a fuel metering system of the type described at the beginning, in which the fuel metering system meteres fuel into all the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine. One high-pressure pump is arranged in the one fuel circuit, and the control device has one pressure control circuit for all the high-pressure pumps. The high-pressure pumps can be controlled independently of each other via the pressure control circuit.
[0019]
In an advantageous configuration of the fuel metering system according to the invention, it is proposed that the high-pressure pump device has two high-pressure pumps.
[0020]
In another advantageous configuration of the fuel metering system according to the invention, it is proposed that the control device controls the high-pressure pumps in parallel with one another, i.e. in phase with one another. As an alternative, it is proposed that the control device controls the one or more first high-pressure pumps in the opposite direction, i.e. in reverse phase, with respect to the one or more second high-pressure pumps.
[0021]
It is advantageous for the control device to control these high-pressure pumps with the same control time.
[0022]
Furthermore, in order to solve the above-mentioned problem, in the configuration of the direct injection internal combustion engine of the present invention, in the internal combustion engine of the type described at the beginning, the fuel metering system is any one of claims 5 to 9. It was designed as a fuel metering system.
[0023]
In an advantageous configuration of the direct injection internal combustion engine according to the invention, it is proposed that the internal combustion engine has at least six cylinders.
[0024]
In a further advantageous configuration of the direct injection internal combustion engine according to the invention, the fuel metering system has two high-pressure accumulator regions which are connected to each other via a pressure compensation line. Yes. By this pressure compensation line, both high pressure accumulator regions are combined into one common high pressure accumulator region.
[0025]
Furthermore, in order to solve the above-described problems, the control device according to the present invention has a control device of the type described at the beginning, wherein the fuel metering system measures fuel into all the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine. Each of the high-pressure pumps is arranged in the one fuel circuit, and the control device makes all the high-pressure pumps independent of each other via one common pressure control circuit. To control.
[0026]
In an advantageous configuration of the control device according to the invention, it is proposed that the control device controls the high-pressure pumps parallel to one another, ie in phase with one another. Alternatively, it is proposed that the control device controls the one or more first high-pressure pumps in the opposite direction, i.e. in reverse phase, with respect to the one or more second high-pressure pumps. It is advantageous if the control device controls these high-pressure pumps with the same control time.
[0027]
Of particular importance is that the method according to the invention is realized in the form of a control element provided for a control device for a direct injection internal combustion engine. In this case, the control element stores a program which can be executed by a computing device, in particular a microprocessor, and which is suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention. That is, in this case, the present invention is realized by a program stored in the control element, and therefore, such a control element having the program is also provided by the method according to the present invention (the above-mentioned method for carrying out this method). The program is suitable). In particular, an electrical storage medium, such as a read only memory or a flash memory, can be used as the control element.
[0028]
