本発明は画像読み取り部を備えた画像形成装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
図24は従来の画像読み取り部を有する電子写真画像形成装置(以下画像形成装置という)の断面図である。図24において装置の下部に画像形成部1が配置されており、その上部に画像読み取り部2が配置されている。また画像読み取り部2の上には原稿自動送り部3が設置されている。

ここで、上記使用時においてトナー切れが発生した場合は、カートリッジカバー25を開きプロセスカートリッジ5を取り出し、そして新品のプロセスカートリッジ5を装着する必要がある。従来装置の場合、排紙部スペース19を使用しカートリッジカバー25を開く構造になっていた。従ってプロセスカートリッジの着脱を確実に行うためにカートリッジカバー25は図25に示すように完全に開く必要がある。そしてそのためには上述の排紙部スペース19を十分に確保する必要があるのである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながらその結果として、カートリッジカバーを完全に開くために排紙部の空間を大きくあける必要が生じ、そのために画像読み取り部の原稿面高さが高くなってしまい、本装置が机に置かれ使用された場合ユーザーの操作性を向上することにはならない。

また、装置全体が高くなってしまうことで、物流コストが増加してしまうこと、さらに輸送時の振動、衝撃に対しても格別に配慮する必要がある。

本発明は前述の従来の技術を更に発展させたものである。本出願に係わる発明の目的は使用時の原稿面高さを低い位置に設定することでユーザーの操作性を向上させた画像読み取り部を有する画像形成装置を提供することである。また、物流コストの低減及び物流時の信頼姓向上がなされた画像読み取り部を有する画像形成装置を提供することである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本出願に係る発明は、現像剤を充填したカートリッジを装着して、記録材上に画像を形成する画像形成部と、前記画像形成部の上方に配置され、原稿の画像を読み取る画像読取部と、前記画像形成部に対して開いて前記画像形成部の内部を開放し、前記カートリッジを着脱可能にする開閉部材と、を有し、前記画像読取部によって読み取られた原稿に基づいて変換された電気信号に従って前記画像形成部により記録材上に画像を形成するものであり、前記画像形成部から排出された記録材を積載するための排紙空間が、前記画像形成部の上方で前記画像読取部の下方に形成された画像形成装置において、前記画像読取部及び前記開閉部材は上方に回動可能であり、前記開閉部材を開くことなく前記画像読取部を上方に回動して前記排紙空間を広げることが可能で、且つ、前記画像読取部を上方に回動したことにより形成された空間に前記開閉部材の一部が入るよう前記開閉部材を上方に開いて前記画像形成部の内部を開放可能であることを特徴とする画像形成装置である。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下図面を用いて本発明の実施の形態について説明する。

(実施の形態1)
〔全体の構成〕
図1は実施の形態の画像読み取り部を有する画像形成装置の断面図である。図1において装置の下部に画像形成部1が配置されており、その上部に画像読み取り部2が配置されている。また画像読み取り部2の上には原稿自動送り部3が配置されている。

次に図1において、各装置部の構成及び機能について説明することとする。まず、一般的なプリンターとして使用される場合においては、コンピューターから送信された画像が光学系51を用いて感光体ドラム4上に露光される。感光体ドラム4はプロセスカートリッジ5の中に一体となって形成されている。それと同時に給紙装置である給紙カセット6から紙のような記録媒体7が搬送される。記録媒体7は中板8の上に乗っており、中板ばね9の力によって中板8と分離爪10の間に挟まれ固定されている。次に、半月状の給紙ローラ11が回転することによって給紙動作が始まることになる。給紙ローラ11によりピックされた記録媒体7は分離爪10によりプレ分離されフィードローラ12及びリタードローラ13部へ送られる。もしこの時分離爪10にて分離できなかった場合はリタードローラ13により分離され次の搬送ローラ14部まで送られる。更に記録媒体7はレジストローラ15まで送られ斜行が補正され感光体ドラム4まで送られる。ここで上述したように感光体ドラム4には画像が露光されており、プロセス手段によってトナー画像とされる。そのトナー画像が転写ローラ54によって記録媒体7に転写される。次に記録媒体7は定着器16に送られ先に転写された画像は記録媒体7に定着される。そして搬送ローラ17及び排紙ローラ18によって排紙部スペース19に排紙、積載されることになる。以上が画像形成部1の機能説明である。

次に本装置の上部に設置された画像読み取り部2について説明することにする。本画像読み取り部2においてはプランテンガラス20の上に置かれた画像をキャリッジ21が図の紙面に直交する方向に移動して読み取りを行う方法と、キャリッジ21はホームポジションに固定した状態にて画像(原稿)の方が図6の給紙トレイ22から給紙され読み取りをおこなう二つの方法がある。読み取られた画像はキャリッジ21内に設けられたミラー(不図示)によっており返されレンズ23に集光されCCD(不図示)及びCCD基板24によって電気信号に変換される。そしてこの変換された電気信号が画像形成部1にて画像に変換され感光体ドラム4に露光される。さらにこの画像が記録媒体7に印刷され排紙されるわけであるがこの画像形成プロセスは上述したプリンターとして使用される場合の内容と同じである。

また、FAX基板(不図示)を設置することで画像読み取り部2にて読み取った画像を送信することも可能であり、FAX受信した画像を印刷することも可能である。

〔プロセスカートリッジ〕
一方、前記プロセスカートリッジ5は、電子写真感光体と、少なくとも1つのプロセス手段を備えたものである。ここでプロセス手段としては、例えば電子写真感光体を帯電させる帯電手段、電子写真感光体に形成された潜像を現像する現像手段、電子写真感光体表面に残留するトナーをクリーニングするためのクリーニング手段等がある。本実施の形態のプロセスカートリッジ5は、図7に示すように、感光層を有する電子写真感光体である感光体ドラム4を回転し、帯電手段である帯電ローラ58へ電圧印加して前記感光体ドラム4の表面を一様に帯電し、この帯電した感光体ドラム4に対して前記光学系51からの光像を露光開口部59を介して露光して潜像を形成し、該潜像を現像手段60によって現像するように構成している。

前記現像手段60は、トナー収納枠体60a内のトナー送り手段である回転可能なトナー送り部材60b2でトナー収納枠体60aの開口部60fへ送り出し、トナー現像枠体62bの開口部60hを通じてトナー現像枠体62b内へ送り出し、このトナーをトナー撹拌部材60b1で撹拌し、固定磁石60cを内蔵した現像回転体である現像ローラ60dを回転させると共に、現像ブレード60eによって摩擦帯電電荷を付与したトナー層を現像ローラ60dの表面に形成し、そのトナーを前記潜像に応じて感光体ドラム4へ転移させることによってトナー像を形成して可視像化するものである。

そして転写ローラ54に前記トナー像と逆極性の電圧を印加してトナー像を記録媒体7に転写した後に、クリーニングブレード61aによって感光体ドラム4に残留したトナーを掻き落とすと共に、スクイシート61bによってすくい取り、除去トナー収納部61cへ集めるクリーニング手段61によって感光体ドラム4上の残留トナーを除去するように構成している。

尚、前記感光体ドラム4等の各部材は、トナー送り部材60b2を回転駆動されるように支持するトナー収納枠体60aとトナー撹拌部材60b1、現像ローラ60d、現像ブレード60e等の現像部材を内蔵するトナー現像枠体62b及び蓋部材62cを溶着して一体化した現像ユニットDと、除去トナー収納部61cを構成し、感光体ドラム4、クリーニングブレード61a、スクイシート61b及び帯電ローラ58を有するクリーニング枠体63とをピン73により結合しクリーニング枠体63と現像ユニットD間に圧縮コイルばね76を縮設して構成したカートリッジ枠体に収納してカートリッジ化され、画像形成部1に設けたカートリッジ装着手段に対して着脱可能に装着される。感光体ドラム4を転写ローラ54に当接するための転写開口部63nはドラムシャッタ部材78により開閉される。図8、図12に示すようにドラムシャッタ部材78はアーム77、リンク79によりカートリッジ枠体に支持されている。ドラムシャッタ部材78、アーム77、リンク79とカートリッジ枠体で四節連鎖機構をなしている。

〔プロセスカートリッジの着脱構成〕
次に前記プロセスカートリッジ5を画像形成部1に対して着脱するための構成について説明する。

プロセスカートリッジ5の着脱は図9に示すように、カートリッジカバー25を開いて行う。カートリッジ装着手段は、ヒンジ25aを中心にしてカートリッジカバー25を開くと図10及び図11に示すように、カートリッジ装着スペースの左右両側面に前下がりであって、下方へ膨出する湾曲形状(本実施の形態では略円弧形状)に形成したガイドレール66が略対称に設けてあり、その上方にはガイド部材67が取り付けてある。更に前記ガイドレール66の入口側にはプロセスカートリッジ5に備えるシャッタ部材78を支持するリンク79の当接部79b(図8参照)が係合する引掛け部として第1傾斜面66aとこれに続いて前記第1傾斜面66aよりも大きな傾斜の第2傾斜面66bが形成してある。

一方、ガイドレール66に対応してプロセスカートリッジ5の長手方向両外側面にはガイドレール66に沿ってガイドされるガイド部が形成してある。このガイド部は、カートリッジ枠体の長手方向両外側面の略左右対称位置から突出するように構成したものであり、図8に示すように、第1ガイド部となるボス68aと、第2ガイド部となるリブ68bを一体化して構成している。前記ボス68a部は感光体ドラム4の回転軸68f(図7参照)の延長線上に位置し、リブ68bは前記ボス68aから連続してプロセスカートリッジ5の挿入方向後方にガイドレール66の形状に合わせて下方へ膨出した湾曲形状(本実施の形態では略円弧形状)に延設している。

上記構成において、プロセスカートリッジ5を装着する場合には、図12乃至図16に示すように、ボス68a及びリブ68bをガイドレール66に沿わせてプロセスカートリッジ5の先端を画像形成部1の光学系51の下に潜り込ませるように挿入する。ガイドレール66は略円弧状に形成してあると共に、その上方にあるガイド部材67もこれに倣った形状をしており、且つリブ68bも同様な略円弧状であるために、挿入するに従ってプロセスカートリッジ5は略水平になる。

更にプロセスカートリッジ5を押し込むと、図16に示すように、画像形成部1に設けた突当部材69(不図示)がクリーニング枠体63の先端の両端部付近に設けた当接面70に当接し、次にプロセスカートリッジ5のボス68aがイドレール66の終端に形成した受け凹部66cに落ち込む。これにより、感光体ドラム4の側端に固着され外周がドラムギアをなすドラムフランジ(不図示)が画像形成部本体側の駆動ギア72(図11参照)と噛み合い、プロセスカートリッジ5へ駆動力を伝達可能となる。

(画像形成部と画像読み取り部の結合関係)
図1において、画像読み取り部2はA方向にスライド可能な状態で画像形成部1に接している。次に、画像読み取り部1がどのようにスライド可能となっているかについて説明することとする。図1、図2においてコの字状の板金であるスライド板金27に中心部に軸30を通した状態でローラ28が2個取り付けられている。また図1、図3に示すようにローラ28の上部にはストップアーム29が2個スライド板金27に取り付いている。一方、画像形成部1側のストップレバー31が図の位置に上下動自在に取り付けられておりストップレバーばね32の力により上方に向って付勢されている。ストップレバーばね32は圧縮コイルばねである。この状態で2組のスライド板金27ユニットは前後に平行して画像読み取り部2に不図示のねじにて固定されている。また、本スライド機構部の斜視図を図2に示す。

ここで、図1は画像形成装置の使用状態、つまり画像形成時の状態を表している。この時のローラ28とストップアーム29そしてストップレバー31との位置関係の詳細を示したのが図3である。図3において画像読み取り部2がA方向に移動しようとした時、ストップアーム29の突起部29aがストップレバー31に係合しておりストップレバーばね32の付勢力が勝っている間は移動できない。またB方向に移動しようとした場合はストップレバー31がストッパーとなるので移動できない。そしてこの状態でトナー切れが生じプロセスカートリッジ5を交換するためにカートリッジカバー25を開けようとした状態を示したのが図4である。図4で示したようにカートリッジカバー25が完全に開かないためにスペースが無くプロセスカートリッジ5を取り出せないことが分る。次に画像読み取り部2をある力以上でA方向に押し込むとストップレバー31はストップレバーばね32のばね力に抗してD方向に下がり画像読み取り部2はA方向に移動できる。そしてある距離だけ移動するともう一方のストップアーム29がストップレバーばね32のばね力に抗してストップレバー31を押し下げて乗り越え、その後ローラ28がストップレバー31に当接し止まる。この状態を示したのが図5である。この状態において画像読み取り部2はA方向に退避したため、カートリッジカバー25は完全に開くことができる。その結果トナー切れにおいても問題なく新品プロセスカートリッジ5に交換できることになる。

また、新品プロセスカートリッジ5に交換後画像読み取り部2をB方向に移動させれば元の状態図1に戻ることができる。尚、本発明のスライド機構部は図6に示したように正面図の左端部、及び右端部に同一の機構が設けてある。

(実施の形態2)
次に本発明の実施の形態2について述べることにする。実施の形態2の画像形成部1、原稿読み取り部2、原稿送り部3の内部構成は実施の形態1と同様であり実施の形態1の説明を援用する。本実施の形態2は画像形成部1に対して原稿読み取り部2を可動とする構成が実施の形態1とは異る。

図17が本発明の実施の形態2の断面図である。図17は使用状態を表している。画像形成部1上面には平面で見て四角形の角の位置に四個所竪方向の丸穴44が設けてある。画像読み取り部2下面には丸穴44に移動自在に嵌入する中空円柱45が嵌入している。中空円柱45中において、丸穴44の底の中空円柱45の天板との間に圧縮コイルばねのリフターばね33が縮設されている。

画像読み取り部2は、リフターばね33によって全体が画像形成部1に対して常に上方に押し上げられている。但し、図17において画像読み取り部2は上方に上がろうとするが、ラッチ34が画像形成部1に固設されたラッチピン35に係合し上方向に上がるのをおさえている。また、ラッチ34は画像読み取り部2にねじ止めされた取付板36にカシメられたラッチ軸37に対して回動自在に取り付けられておりラッチ軸37に嵌め込まれた軸用止め輪の1種であるEリング38によって抜け防止されている。また、取付板36の切起こし部とラッチ34の切起こし部とのあいだには引張りコイルばねのラッチばね39が掛けられており、上述のリフターばね33の2本分より強い力でラッチ34をラッチ軸37を中心にして時計方向へ回転させようとしている。また、ラッチ34の先端には解除ボタン40が取り付いている。そしてこの解除ボタン40は画像形成部本体の側面から顔を出している(不図示)。

以上の構成によって、画像読み取り部2は上方に上がろうとしてはいるものの図の位置に保持されていることになる。この状態において、解除ボタン40を図18のようにE方向に押し込むとラッチ34とラッチピン35の係合がはずれリフターばね33の付勢力により画像読み取り部2は画像形成部1に対して上方に上がりはじめる。そしてリフターばね33の付勢力と画像読み取り部2の重量が釣り合った位置まで上昇して止まることになる。この状態が図19である。そしてこの位置まで画像読み取り部2が上昇することで、カートリッジカバー25が開くスペースが十分にとれて、カートリッジ交換ができるようになる。

次に、新品のプロセスカートリッジ5に交換した後画像読み取り部2を下方向にリフターばね33のばね力に抗して押し込むと図17のようにラッチばね39のばね力でラッチ34がラッチピン35に係合し、原稿自動送り部3、プラテンガラス20の高さを所定の位置まで下げることができる。

以上説明したように、本発明によれば、原稿台面高さを低く抑えることができるため、ユーザーの操作性を向上させることができる。また、画像形成装置本体の高さを低く抑えることができるため、物流コストの低減、さらに物流時の信頼性も向上させることができる。
