従来より、各種通信装置に取り付けられるアンテナ装置は、通信装置の側面に隣接して沿うように取り付けられる場合、未使用時にはアンテナを通信装置の側面側に収納して損傷してしまうことを防止する一方、使用時にはアンテナを回動させて通信装置の上面よりも上方に露出させて感度よく電波を送受信することができるように設計されているものがある。
