【0001】
撮像素子としては、一般的にCCD(charge coupled device,電荷結合素子)やPSDが用いられる。
【0004】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical distance measuring device, and more particularly to a distance measuring device that measures an approximate distance from a measuring device to an obstacle based on the principle of triangulation.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, there are various non-contact distance measuring methods, and one of them is, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-160050, which captures an image of slit light irradiated on an object, and a camera and a slit. There is a method of calculating the distance of each point on the slit light imaged using the triangulation method from the position irradiated with light and measuring the distance to the object.
[0003]
As shown in FIG. 7, a distance measurement method based on a general triangulation principle irradiates a measurement object 21 with light such as a spot shape or a slit shape from a
[0004]
In the three-dimensional shape measuring apparatus disclosed in JP-A-11-160050, a two-dimensional pixel matrix is configured by arranging a plurality of line CCDs in parallel as shown in FIG.
[0005]
Then, the luminance value of each pixel of the horizontal scanning line read from each line CCD shown in FIG. 8B is temporarily stored in an image memory or the like, and the luminance value of each pixel is compared with each other to maximize the luminance value. A pixel is obtained, and the distance to the object is calculated based on the position of the pixel and the optical system parameters of the projector and the light receiver.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in general, in order to capture or receive the irradiated pattern light under sunlight, it is conceivable to increase the irradiation intensity and separate the disturbance light and the irradiation light, but not so strong as to be buried in sunlight. It is not realistic to irradiate the light.
[0007]
Therefore, in order to separate the sunlight from the irradiation light, in general, by using a technique such as modulating the irradiation light or performing synchronous detection, light such as sunlight (DC light) ) Or a relatively low frequency disturbance light and a method of separating the irradiation light.
[0008]
However, in the distance measuring apparatus disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 11-160050, an image pickup device in which line CCDs are two-dimensionally arranged is used as the image pickup device, and each line CCD is determined from the intensity distribution of light detected by each line CCD. Since the position of the irradiation light is detected every time, if the background light is as strong as sunlight, the irradiation light is buried in the sunlight and cannot be detected. Further, due to the limitation due to the reading speed of the CCD, there has been a problem that high-speed modulation of the light source intensity for improving the S / N ratio and synchronous detection of the output of the light receiving element cannot be performed.
[0009]
The conventional optical distance measuring device temporarily stores the luminance values of a large number of pixels read from the image sensor in an image memory or the like, and searches for the maximum luminance from these luminance values in order to obtain the pixel position where the maximum luminance is obtained. Therefore, there is a problem that it takes a long time to calculate the distance.
[0010]
In view of the above problems, an object of the present invention is to provide a distance measuring device capable of reducing the memory capacity for temporarily storing the luminance value and reducing the calculation time for obtaining the distance.
[0011]
Another object of the present invention is to provide a distance measuring device that can accurately measure the distance to an object even when the intensity of external light (background light) such as sunlight is high.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a first aspect of the present invention is directed to a light projecting unit for projecting irradiation light in a first direction, and a predetermined second that is perpendicular to the first direction from the light projecting unit. And a light receiving means for receiving reflected light reflected by the object in the first direction, the light receiving means being arranged in the second direction. A means for measuring a range of a distance to an object by detecting reflected light for each of the plurality of regions and determining in which of the plurality of regions the reflected light is incident. A unique binary code is assigned to each of the plurality of areas of the means, and the light projecting means emits light at a plurality of light emission timings corresponding to the number of digits of the binary code, and each area of the light receiving means is assigned to the assigned area. The time when each digit of the binary code is “1” The reflected light to determine not incident or not incident at grayed, by calculating the logical sum of the determination result of each region, the gist that the reflected light obtaining a time series signal of the binary code indicating the incident area And
[0013]
In order to achieve the above object, a second aspect of the present invention is the distance measuring device according to the first aspect, wherein the irradiation light is spot light or slit light.
[0015]
To achieve the above object, according to a third aspect of the present invention, in the distance measuring device according to the first or second aspect , the light projecting means modulates the intensity of the irradiated light, and the light receiving means is an intensity signal of the reflected light. The gist of this is to determine which region the reflected light is incident on.
[0016]
In order to achieve the above object, according to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the distance measuring device according to any one of the first to third aspects, the second of each of the plurality of regions arranged in the second direction. The gist is that the lengths in the direction of are optimized to be unequal in length according to the purpose of measurement.
[0017]
In order to achieve the above object, a fifth aspect of the present invention is the distance measuring device according to any one of the first to fourth aspects, wherein the third direction is perpendicular to the first and second directions. The gist of the present invention is to arrange a plurality of the light receiving means in order to detect the shape of the object or the plurality of objects.
[0018]
【The invention's effect】
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the light projecting means for projecting the irradiation light toward the first direction and the predetermined second direction perpendicular to the first direction from the light projecting means are predetermined. A distance measuring device including a light receiving unit that receives the reflected light reflected by the object in the first direction and is spaced apart by a distance, and the light receiving unit includes a plurality of light receiving units arranged in the second direction. Since the reflected light is detected for each region and the range of the distance to the object is measured by determining which of the plurality of regions the reflected light is incident on, a number of conventional methods are used. There is no need to determine the pixel having the maximum luminance by comparing the luminance values of the pixels, and the calculation time for obtaining the distance can be remarkably shortened.
[0019]
Also, instead of comparing the luminance values of many pixels, it is determined which area of the light receiving means the reflected light is incident on, so the memory capacity for storing the luminance values of many pixels is reduced. can do.
Furthermore, a unique binary code is assigned to each of the plurality of areas of the light receiving means, the light projecting means emits light at a plurality of light emission timings corresponding to the number of digits of the binary code, and each area of the light receiving means is , It is determined whether or not the reflected light is incident at the timing when each digit of the assigned binary code is “1”, and the reflected light is calculated by calculating the logical sum of the determination results for each region. Since the binary code time series indicating the incident area is obtained, a binary code string indicating the range of the distance to the object can be obtained by a simple OR circuit.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[Description of Principle]
First, the relationship between the light receiving element array and the distance detection area, which is the basis of the present invention, will be described with reference to FIG. The light
[0026]
In FIG. 5, the reflected light obtained by reflecting the light emitted from the
[0027]
As described above, since the region where the object that reflects the irradiation light irradiated from the projector exists and the element on which the reflected light is imaged by the light receiving lens have a one-to-one correspondence, which PD detected the reflected light. Thus, it is possible to know the existence area of the object that reflects the reflected light.
[0028]
Based on this principle, the present invention can be obtained by coding the area where the object exists from the detection signal of each PD, that is, the area where the object exists is uniquely described by time-series coding of the detection signal. This makes it possible to eliminate the need for distance calculation in the latter stage of PD.
[0029]
Next, the characteristic time-series coding of the detection signal will be described based on the timing chart of FIG.

Now, the code length of the time series coding is 2 bits of t1 and t2, the output of the light
[0034]
In this way, by setting the detection timing according to the area to be monitored, it is possible to uniquely determine the area where the object exists without calculating, so the memory and the arithmetic unit are simplified and the calculation time is reduced. In addition to reducing the circuit scale, the system cost can also be kept low.
[0035]
Next, based on FIG. 6, the principle of identifying a plurality of one-dimensional light receiving element arrays in parallel and identifying irregularities and multi-targets will be described. FIG. 6 is a top view of a state in which the light receiving
In this way, by arranging a plurality of one-dimensional arrays in parallel, not only the z direction (light emitting element irradiation direction) but also the x direction (vehicle width direction) can be identified.
Therefore, by arranging a plurality of one-dimensional arrays in parallel, it is possible to identify object irregularities and multi-targets.
[0036]
[Description of Embodiment]
Next, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0053]
If this is generalized, it is assumed that the function f (tk) (k = 1, 2,...) Takes a value of 0 or 1, and the number N of the light receiving element is a binary number of the following equation (1). When expressed in
[Expression 1]
It is assumed that the Nth light receiving element performs detection at time tk that satisfies f (tk) = 1.
[0054]
At this time, at the timing shown in FIG. 2, the OR value at time t1 in the light emission command cycle is the lower bit, the OR value at time t3 is the most significant bit, and (t3, t2, t1) is the light emission command cycle. When considered as an output, if the OR value of the light receiving array is 1 only for the light emission command t1, the output of one cycle of the light emission command is (0, 0, 1), which means that only the

Further, when the light receiving array outputs only in response to the light emission command t2, the output of one cycle of the light emission command is (0, 1, 0), so that the object exists in the detection region of the
[0056]
That is, the time series output data of the detection signal OR values of these light receiving arrays in one light emission command cycle corresponds to encoding each detection area in binary, and the encoded time series output data and camera The object existence area, that is, the distance to the object is calculated from the parameter and the projector parameter, or the distance is obtained from the correspondence with the map created in advance from the camera parameter and the projector parameter.
[0057]
As described above, the existence area of the object that reflects the irradiation light is uniquely determined from the time series data of the light emission command and the light receiving array output value in one period of the light emission command, and the distance to the object can be obtained.
[0058]
If the number of light receiving elements constituting the light receiving array is N, a predetermined area can be divided into N at most and distance measurement can be performed. Now, it is assumed that the light receiving array is composed of 128 light receiving elements. At this time, since a 7-bit information amount is necessary to divide the monitoring area into 128, a light emission command is required from t1 to t7. Here, when tN (N = 1 to 7) is 10 μs, the light emission interval from the light emission command fall to the next light emission command rise is 10 μs, and the light emission period is 20 μs, all 7-bit states are detected. That is, it takes 7 × 20 μs = 140 μs to calculate the distance, and the distance can be detected in a very short time.
[0059]
Up to this point, a single light receiving array has been described. By arranging a plurality of light receiving arrays in parallel, it can be applied to unevenness detection and multi-target identification, and by scanning slit light, three-dimensional shape measurement is also possible. It becomes.

Next, the case where the distance measuring device according to the present invention is applied to a vehicle will be described with reference to FIGS.

Next, a method for coding a region where an object exists will be described based on the timing chart shown in FIG. At time t1, the light receiving element array constituting the one-dimensional array performs synchronous detection so as to detect only the reflected light from the
[0065]
In the above-described case, in the synchronous detection timing chart shown in FIG. 2, the reflected light is detected at time t1 and time t2, and the time-series data of the detection signal output in one cycle of the light emission command is (0, 1). , 1). This corresponds to a binary notation of 3, and means that an object exists in the
[0066]
Up to this point, the description has been made based on the timing chart of synchronous detection when each region is expressed in binary. However, the timing of synchronous detection may be any timing as long as each region can be uniquely identified.
