Description

The present invention relates to a press-fit terminal that is used by being inserted into a through-hole of a substrate, and particularly relates to a press-fit terminal that can prevent contact failure due to vibration or the like and improve reliability, and a method for manufacturing the same. Is.

As a terminal to be connected to a through hole of a substrate, a press-fit terminal that does not perform soldering has been conventionally used. In the press-fit terminal, means for preventing poor contact with the through hole has been conventionally devised. For example, in Patent Document 1, a through hole is made difficult to wear by providing a slit in the terminal base.

Patent Document 2 proposes a method for preventing contact failure of the press-fit portion on the tip side by sequentially increasing the width of the press-fit portion to be connected to a substrate having two or more layers from the tip side. .

Conventionally, a press-fit terminal is formed by plastic deformation of a single metal plate. When the press-fit part is fitted into a through-hole of a substrate, the press-fit part is further deformed into a shape in contact with the through-hole. Is done. Various shapes have been proposed so far for the press-fit portion, which are devised for the contact surface with the through hole.

An example of the shape of a conventional press-fit portion is shown in FIG. FIG. 5 is an example showing a cross-sectional shape of a conventional press-fit portion inserted into the through hole 101. FIG. 5A is called an M press, and the cross section 102 of the press fit portion has an M shape. FIGS. 5B and 5C belong to what is called a solid type, and are called a square pin type and a C type, respectively.

Further, FIGS. 5D to 5G belong to what is called a beam type, and are called action pins, Eye of Needle, Σ type, and N type, respectively. All of the conventional press-fit terminals having the cross-sectional shapes 102 to 108 shown in FIG. 5 are plastically deformed into respective shapes and are in contact with the through holes 101.

However, the conventional press-fit terminal has the following problems.
The press-fit part is deformed to the plastic area, and the spring characteristic is very large in the press-fit part, so there is little elastic area that can follow changes in the diameter of the through-hole after insertion into the through-hole. It was. Therefore, once a gap is formed between the press fit part and the through hole due to vibration or temperature change, the elastic region is small and the gap is not filled again. It will cause poor contact.

The press-fit terminal described in Patent Document 1 or Patent Document 2 is also deformed to the plastic region, has a large spring characteristic, and has a structure in which only a small elastic region remains. Therefore, when the through-hole diameter is enlarged due to a temperature change or the substrate is warped, the contact force is suddenly weakened, and there is a possibility that contact failure occurs due to vibration or the like.

Accordingly, the present invention has been made to solve these problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a press-fit terminal capable of preventing a contact failure due to vibration or the like and maintaining a good contact state with a through hole. .

According to a first aspect of the press-fit terminal of the present invention, the terminal base includes a press-fit portion that is inserted into a conductive through-hole of the substrate, and the press-fit portion contacts the through-hole and has an opening. The contact portion is formed of a contact portion and a pressing portion that is formed in a substantially concave shape in cross section and is fitted in the opening portion with a recess facing the opening portion, and presses the contact portion against the through hole. The press-fit terminal is characterized in that the contact portion is pressed against the through-hole by an elastic reaction force of the pressing portion that works to push and widen the opening portion in addition to the reaction force due to the deformation of.

According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a press-fit terminal comprising two of the press-fit portions at the tip of the terminal base.

A third aspect of the present invention is a method for manufacturing the press-fit terminal, wherein the press-fit terminal is manufactured by processing from a single metal plate, and the press-fit portion has a polygonal column shape having an opening. A molded contact portion whose outer surface is in contact with the through hole and a pressing portion whose cross section is formed in a substantially concave shape and presses the contact portion against the through hole are formed, and the pressing portion is fitted into the opening. Thus, the press-fit terminal manufacturing method is characterized in that it is formed by bending between the contact portion and the pressing portion.

As described above, according to the present invention, in addition to the contact force to the through hole due to the deformation of the contact portion itself, the contact portion is pressed against the through hole of the substrate by the pressing portion, so that the contact due to vibration or the like is brought about. It is possible to provide a press-fit terminal capable of preventing a defect and maintaining a good contact state with a through hole, and a manufacturing method thereof.

In addition, according to the present invention, by providing two press-fit portions to be fitted into the through holes, not only the electrical reliability is improved, but also a mechanically reliable press-fit terminal can be provided. it can.

Furthermore, since the press-fit terminal of the present invention is formed of a single metal plate for the contact portion and the pressing portion, the number of parts can be reduced and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

A configuration of a press-fit terminal in a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In addition, about each structural part which has the same function, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected and shown for simplification of illustration and description.

FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic structure of a press-fit terminal according to the first embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 1A shows a side view of the press-fit terminal 1, and the press-fit terminal 1 includes a press-fit portion 2, a terminal base portion 3, and a male terminal portion 4. That is, with the terminal base 3 as the center, the press-fit portion 2 is provided on one end side, and the male terminal portion 4 is provided on the other end side.

The press-fit portion 2 is for inserting the male terminal portion 4 into electrical connection with the substrate by being inserted into the through hole of the substrate. In FIG. 2, an example of sectional drawing of the state which connected the press fit terminal 1 of this invention to the board | substrate is shown. The press-fit terminal 1 is fixed by inserting a press-fit portion 2 into a through hole 12 formed in the substrate 11.

In order to prevent contact failure between the press-fit portion 2 and the through hole 12, the press-fit portion 2 has a structure as shown in FIG. FIG. 1B is a cross-sectional view for explaining the structure of the press-fit portion 2. The press-fit portion 2 includes a contact portion 5 formed in a shape that can be easily contacted with the through hole 12 and a pressing portion 6 that behaves elastically with respect to the contact portion.
That is, the pressing part 6 exhibits an elastic behavior with respect to the contact part 5 around the opposite end 7 of the male terminal part 4 of the press-fit terminal 1 or the boundary 8 between the terminal base part 3 and the press-fit part 2. To do. That is, an elastic force works in the vertical direction of FIG.

The pressing part 6 is formed by bending so that the cross-sectional shape is substantially concave. Moreover, the contact part 5 is formed in the polygonal column shape which has an opening part, and the press part 6 is fitted by the said opening part in the state as shown in FIG.1 (b).

As described above, when the contact portion 5 is inserted into the through hole, the contact portion 5 is deformed in the direction of contraction with respect to the cross section. It works to press 5 to the through hole 12. That is, in addition to the reaction force generated by deformation when the contact portion 5 is inserted into the through hole, an elastic reaction force acts so as to spread the opening of the contact portion 5 from the pressing portion 6. 5 is pressed against the through hole 12.

As described above, since the elastic force is always applied to the contact portion 5 from the pressing portion 6, the contact portion 5 is always kept in close contact with the through hole 12 even in severe use such as an automobile. It becomes possible to do. For example, conventionally, there has been a gap between the contact portion 5 and the through hole 12 due to vibration of the vehicle body. However, in the press fit terminal 1 of the present invention, the contact portion 5 and the through hole 12 are caused by vibration. Even if a gap is instantaneously formed or the through hole diameter increases due to a temperature change, the contact portion 5 is in close contact with the through hole 12 by the elastic force from the pressing portion 6, that is, the change on the through hole side. It becomes a state to follow.

The press-fit terminal 1 of the present invention has a structure in which one metal plate is folded. FIG. 3 shows a single metal sheet press-formed before folding. By adopting a folded structure, the pressing portion 6 is in contact with the contact portion 5 around the opposite end 7 of the male terminal portion of the press-fit terminal 1 or the boundary 8 between the terminal base portion 3 and the press-fit portion 2. It will exhibit elastic behavior. Moreover, in the same figure, the outer diameter of the part fitted to the contact part 5 of the press part 6 is preferably larger than the inner diameter of the part fitted to the press part 6 of the contact part 5.

The press-fit terminal 1 is formed by bending one metal plate shown in FIG. 3 at a bent portion 21 and superimposing a metal plate on the right side of the bent portion 21 on the left metal plate. At this time, the pressing portion 6 is overlapped with the opening of the contact portion 5 so as to be fitted. As described above, since the outer diameter of the portion that fits the contact portion 5 of the pressing portion 6 is larger than the inner diameter of the portion that fits the pressing portion 6 of the contact portion 5, 5 is in a state in which a force is always applied in the cross-sectional outer side direction. However, even when the outer diameter of the pressing portion 6 is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the contact portion 5, when inserted into the through hole, the contact portion 5 contracts to the inside of the cross section and contacts the pressing portion 6, and the elastic reaction from the pressing portion 6 occurs. You will gain power. As described above, the press-fit terminal 1 of the present invention is formed by forming a single metal plate and bending it at the bending portion 21, so that the number of parts is small and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

Another embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIG. As shown in FIG. 4, the press-fit terminal 31 according to another embodiment of the present invention is a double contact press-fit system having two press-fit portions for connection to the substrate 34. The press fit portions 32 and 33 both have the same structure as the press fit portion 2 shown in FIG.

In the press-fit terminal 31 of this embodiment provided with the two press-fit parts 32 and 33, the connection with the board | substrate 34 can be made more reliable, and reliability can be improved significantly. Even in severe use such as in automobiles, the probability that both of the press-fit portions 32 and 33 are in contact failure due to vibration or the like is extremely low, and a highly reliable press-fit terminal can be provided.

Even if either one of the press-fit portions 32 and 33 temporarily becomes defective in contact, the contact portion 5 is again pressed against the through-hole 35 or 36 by the elastic force of the pressing portion 6, and a good contact state is obtained. Recovered. Further, since the two press-fit portions 32 and 33 are connected to the substrate 34, the mechanical strength is increased, and there is no possibility that the press-fit terminal 31 is detached from the substrate 34 due to vibration or the like.

As shown in FIG. 4, in this embodiment, the press-fit portions 32 and 33 are used, so that when the press-fit terminal 31 is connected to the substrate 34, a load is evenly applied to the press-fit portions 32 and 33. In this way, it can be inserted into the through holes 35 and 36.

That is, the press-fit portions 32 and 33 are arranged in the upper portions of the through holes 35 and 36, and the load is evenly applied to the left and right shoulder portions 37 and 38 formed in the terminal base portion, thereby the press-fit portions 32 and 33. Are inserted and fitted into the through holes 35 and 36, respectively. When there are two press-fit portions, it is easy to apply a load equally to each of the press-fit portions, and the press-fit portions 32 and 33 can be sufficiently fitted into the through holes 35 and 36, respectively.

In addition, the description in this Embodiment shows an example of the press fit terminal which concerns on this invention, and is not limited to this. The detailed configuration and detailed operation of the press-fit terminal in the present embodiment can be appropriately changed without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
