BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides a solid-state imaging device at the tip of a scope, generates a video color signal corresponding to a subject image such as a body organ, and reproduces a subject color image on a screen of a monitor device based on the video color signal. The present invention relates to an endoscope apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, electronic endoscope devices that reproduce color images have become the mainstream, and accordingly, in the medical field using electronic endoscope devices, dye endoscopy is a new medical examination method based on color image reproduction. Laws have been developed. For example, as an auxiliary diagnostic method for endoscopic diagnosis, an examination method is known in which an appropriate pigment solution is distributed on the stomach inner wall or the inner wall of the large intestine to emphasize subtle irregularities of the mucous membrane to facilitate observation of its morphology. ing.
[0003]
More specifically, the inner wall of the stomach and the inner wall of the large intestine are reddish orange as a whole, and it is difficult to observe the subtle irregularities. In such a case, when a blue dye solution that exhibits a clear color contrast with respect to the red-orange color, for example, indigo carmine solution, is spread on the mucosal wall through the forceps hole of the scope, the dye solution It tends to be gathered in the concave portion of the wall, but tends to be excluded from the convex portion of the mucosal wall, so that the subtle uneven form of the mucosal wall surface becomes very easy to observe due to the color contrast.
[0004]
However, in the dye endoscopy as described above, it is necessary to prepare a dye that is harmless to the human body and inexpensive, and because of the dye distribution, the examination time becomes long and the pain of the patient increases. Immediately after applying the pigment, there is a problem that the mucosal wall cannot be observed in its original state. In order to improve this problem, recently, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2001-25025, an electronic endoscope apparatus that can be reproduced with color contrast as if a pigment was distributed by image processing has been considered.
[0005]
Specifically, the signal level value of the specific pixel is compared with the average signal level value of the surrounding eight pixels, and if the signal level value of the specific pixel is low, it is determined that the corresponding portion of the subject is depressed from the periphery. Then, pseudo dye distribution processing for emphasizing blue is performed by reducing the signal level values of the red pixel signal and the green pixel signal. Thereby, the color image reproduced on the monitor device exhibits a color contrast as if a blue dye solution was distributed.
[0006]
However, the pseudo dye distribution process as described above has a new problem that the luminance of the color image reproduced by the monitor device is reduced to an image that is difficult to see. This is because, in the NTSC system, for example, the luminance signal is generated by mixing a red pixel signal, a green pixel signal, and a blue pixel signal at a ratio of 0.3: 0.59: 0.11, so that the red pixel signal and the green pixel signal are This is because the luminance signal tends to be easily reduced in the method of reducing the red and green pixel signals. Therefore, in order to improve the brightness of the entire image, dimming that increases the amount of light is further required. As a result, the examination takes time and the burden on the patient increases.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In view of the above problems, an object of the present invention is to obtain an electronic endoscope apparatus that performs pseudo-dye distribution processing without reducing the luminance of a reproduced color image.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An electronic endoscope apparatus according to the present invention is a video color signal based on a first color pixel signal, a second color pixel signal, and a third color pixel signal for one frame obtained from a solid-state imaging device provided at the distal end of a scope. And a reproduced color image is displayed on the screen of the monitor device based on the video color signal. In such an electronic endoscope apparatus, a first comparison for comparing a signal level value of a color pixel signal in a specific pixel included in the first color pixel signal for one frame with an average signal level value of neighboring pixels of the specific pixel. And a level increasing means for increasing the signal level value of the specific pixel when the signal level value of the specific pixel is determined to be smaller than the average signal level value of the neighboring pixels by the first comparing means, and for one frame A second comparison unit that compares the signal level value of the color pixel signal in a specific pixel included in the second or third color pixel signal with an average signal level value of neighboring pixels of the specific pixel; and a second comparison unit Level reducing means for reducing the signal level value of the specific pixel when the signal level value of the specific pixel is determined to be smaller than the average signal level value of the neighboring surrounding pixels, and level increasing means And a video color signal generating means for generating a video color signal whose color balance has been changed based on the second color pixel signal and the third color pixel signal obtained from the level reducing means. The most important feature is the provision.
[0009]
In the electronic endoscope apparatus, the first color pixel signal is a blue pixel signal, and the second and third color pixel signals are a red pixel signal and a green pixel signal, respectively.

Input red pixel data r when ΔR <0 ij Since the data 'k1 · ΔR' to be added to is a negative value as described above, the output red pixel data R ij Is the input red pixel data r ij Level value is reduced. This is the output green pixel data G ij The same applies to. On the other hand, when ΔB <0, the input blue pixel data b ij Since the data 'k2 · ΔB' to be added to is a positive value as described above, the output blue pixel data B ij Is the input blue pixel data b ij The level value is increased.
[0052]
As described above, when the pseudo dye distribution mode is selected, when the red signal level value of the central pixel is lower than the pixel average value of the neighboring pixels in the pseudo dye distribution processing circuit 130 (ΔR <0), It is determined that the portion corresponds to the concave portion, and the red signal level value of the central pixel is reduced and output. On the other hand, if the red signal level value of the central pixel is the same or higher than the average pixel value of the neighboring surrounding pixels (ΔR ≧ 0), it is determined that the spot corresponds to a flat or convex portion of the subject, and the signal of the central pixel The level value is output without any change. Such pseudo pigment distribution processing is also performed on the green pixel data.
[0053]
On the other hand, when the blue signal level value of the center pixel is lower than the pixel average value of the neighboring surrounding pixels (ΔB <0), it is determined that the spot corresponds to the concave portion of the subject, and the blue signal level value of the center pixel increases. Is output. When the blue signal level value of the central pixel is the same as or higher than the average pixel value of the neighboring surrounding pixels (ΔB ≧ 0), the center pixel is determined to be a portion corresponding to a flat portion or a convex portion, and the signal level value of the central pixel Is output without any changes.
[0054]
Therefore, when the pseudo-dye distribution mode is selected, if an object with unevenness is imaged, the levels of the red component and the green component are reduced only for the pixels corresponding to the recesses, the level of the blue component is increased, and the reproduced color In the image, it appears as if a blue dye solution was distributed.
[0055]
In particular, the larger the absolute value of the difference data ΔR, ΔG, and ΔB of the pixel data of each color, that is, the greater the amount of depression at the location corresponding to the pixel, the value 'k1 · ΔR' or ' k1 · ΔG 'or the value to be added' k2 · ΔB 'increases, and the blue component of the corresponding portion in the reproduced color image is further emphasized. When the blue dye solution is actually distributed, the deeper the concave portion, the larger the amount of the dye solution that accumulates there, so that the blue density also increases in the reproduced color image. Therefore, the reproduced color image obtained by the pseudo dye distribution process in the present embodiment can be regarded as being very close to the reproduced color image obtained when the dye solution is actually distributed.
[0056]
Conventionally, no processing is performed on the blue digital pixel signal, and the blue component is relatively emphasized by reducing the red and green digital pixel signals. However, since the ratio of the red and green digital pixel signals contributing to the luminance signal is high, the luminance signal level itself decreases, and as a result, only a reproduced color image that is dark and difficult to observe is obtained. However, in the electronic endoscope apparatus of the present embodiment, the luminance signal level can be improved by improving the level of the blue digital pixel signal, and a reproduced color image that can be easily observed can be obtained.
[0057]
The density coefficients k1 and k2 are automatically set to 0 when the mode switch SW is OFF, that is, when the normal mode is selected, and set to a predetermined value by the
[0058]
Changing the density coefficients k1 and k2 is equivalent to using several types of dye solutions having different concentrations when the dye solutions are actually distributed. That is, it is possible to obtain an effect as if the concentration of the dye solution is changed by a simple operation of changing the concentration coefficients k1 and k2 via the

As described above, according to the electronic endoscope apparatus of the first embodiment, for a pixel having a signal level lower than that of the surroundings, not only the red component and the green component are suppressed, but also the blue component is emphasized, thereby performing the pseudo dye distribution process. It is possible to suppress a decrease in luminance of the reproduced color image. In addition, it is possible to obtain a reproduced color image with good color contrast and easy observation.

As described above, also in the electronic endoscope apparatus of the second embodiment, as in the first embodiment, only the red component and the green component are suppressed for pixels whose signal level value is lower than the average signal level value of neighboring neighboring pixels. In addition, by emphasizing the blue component, it is possible to suppress a decrease in luminance of the reproduced color image subjected to the pseudo-dye distribution process. In addition, it is possible to obtain a reproduced color image with good color contrast and easy observation. In the second embodiment, since the red digital pixel signal, the green digital pixel signal, and the blue digital pixel signal are processed at the same time, the processing time is shortened compared to the configuration of the first embodiment.
[0070]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, since the electronic endoscope apparatus of the present invention can perform the pseudo-dye distribution process without reducing the luminance of the reproduced color image, the examination time is shortened and the burden on the patient is reduced. There is.

An electronic endoscope apparatus for displaying a color image,
First comparing means for comparing the signal level value of the blue pixel signal in a specific blue pixel and the average signal level value of the blue pixel of the proximity around that particular blue pixel with the blue pixel signal of the one frame,
A level increase that increases the signal level value of the specific blue pixel when the first comparison means determines that the signal level value of the specific blue pixel is smaller than the average signal level value of the neighboring blue pixels Means,
Said first frame red or certain about the green pixel signal red or green in the proximity around the red or green that particular red or green pixel signal level value of the color pixel signals in the pixel the red or green pixel A second comparison means for comparing with the average signal level value;
When it is determined that the signal level value of the particular red or green pixel is less than the average signal level value of the red or green pixel of the proximity around by said second comparison means, the specific red or green pixel Level reduction means for reducing the signal level value of
A blue color pixel signal obtained from the level increasing means, and a video color signal generating means for generating a video color signal whose color balance has been changed based on the red pixel signal and the green pixel signal obtained from the level reducing means. An electronic endoscope apparatus characterized by that.
