Description

The present invention relates to a connector for a coaxial cable used in information devices such as mobile phones, personal computers, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), and small electronic devices such as home appliances, and in particular, in an L-shape for connecting coaxial cables. The present invention relates to an improvement in a formed receptacle connector for an L-shaped coaxial cable.

In general, there are information devices such as mobile phones, personal computers and PDAs, and small electronic devices such as home appliances that use coaxial cables.

Conventionally, as a coaxial cable relay device, a coaxial cable connector has been proposed in which the center of the coaxial cable and an external conductor are electrically connected to other conductors such as other cables.

In particular, L-type coaxials are designed so that the coaxial cable is attached from the direction perpendicular to the connector connection direction in order to reduce the size and height of the connector for the coaxial cable according to the miniaturization and thinning of various devices used. A cable receptacle connector is provided.

FIG. 10 is a conceptual perspective view of an L-shaped coaxial cable receptacle connector (hereinafter simply referred to as a coaxial connector) 1 previously proposed by the present applicant in Japanese Patent Application No. 2003-430100.

The coaxial connector 1 has a pair of plug connection terminals that grip and electrically connect a plug connector contact described later at the lower end, and a pair of cable connection terminals 5 that grip and connect the center conductor of the coaxial cable at the upper end. , 6, a substantially cylindrical housing 8 formed of a synthetic resin insulator that accommodates the contact 7, and an annular metal shell body 9 s that accommodates the housing 8. A cylindrical metal shell 9 connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable.

A tongue piece 8a for further gripping the pair of cable connection terminals 5 and 6 of the contact 7 is connected to the upper surface of the housing 8, and the coaxial cable 10 is connected to the upper edge of the metallic shell 9. A bent piece 9a for positioning and fixing the portion excluding the central conductor 10a is connected.

In order to attach the coaxial cable 10 to the coaxial connector 1 as described above, as indicated by an arrow A, the central conductor 10 a of the coaxial cable 10 is first disposed between the pair of cable connection terminals 5 and 6 of the contact 7.

After that, the bent piece 9a of the metal shell 9 is bent as shown by an arrow B, and the pair of crimping pieces 9b, 9c, 9d protruding from both sides of the bent piece 9a is crimped to make the coaxial cable 10 into the coaxial connector 1. Fix the positioning.

Then, as shown in FIG. 11 which is a sectional view of the coaxial cable 1, the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 is held between the pair of cable connection terminals 5 and 6 from the vertical direction and connected to the contact 7, and the crimping piece 9c. The outer conductor 10b of the coaxial cable 10 is electrically connected to the metal shell 9 by crimping.

As shown in FIG. 11, the insulator 10c of the coaxial cable 10 is held and fixed to the crimping piece 9b, and the outer skin 10d of the coaxial cable 10 is held and fixed to the crimping piece 9d.

Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 11, when the annular metal shell body 9s of the coaxial cable 1 is fitted to the annular metal shell 42 of the plug connector 40 as indicated by the arrow C, the cylindrical shape constituting the plug connector 40 is obtained. The contact 41 is gripped and electrically connected between a pair of tongue-like plug connection terminals 7 a constituting the contact 7 of the coaxial connector 1, and the annular metal shell 42 constituting the plug connector 40 and the coaxial connector 1. The annular metal shell main body 9s is fitted and brought into contact, and is electrically connected.
Japanese Patent Application No. 2003-430100

By the way, in the coaxial connector mentioned above, according to the further miniaturization and thickness reduction of the various apparatuses used, further height reduction is calculated | required, but in the conventional coaxial connector 1 mentioned above, as shown in FIG. In addition, in a region surrounded by the annular metal shell main body 9s, a pair of cable connection terminals 5 and 6 for connection to the center conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10, a center conductor 10a sandwiched therebetween, and a cable connection Since the tongues 8a and the like that are bent without damaging the terminals 5 are arranged, there is a difficulty in further reducing the height of the coaxial connector 1 by setting the overall height H to be lower. .

In the coaxial connector 1 described above, in order to remove the coaxial connector 1 from the fitting position with the plug connector 40 shown in FIG. 11, the coaxial cable 10 and the bent piece 9 a are bent in the normal arrow D direction to plug the connector 40. The annular metal shell main body 9s of the coaxial connector 1 is removed from the annular metal shell 42. However, the force acting in the direction of arrow D opens the pair of cable connection terminals 5 and 6, and thus the pair of cables. There is also a possibility that the connection reliability is lost due to the release of the electrical connection between the connection terminals 5 and 6 and the central conductor 10a held by the connection terminals 5 and 6.

In view of the circumstances described above, an object of the present invention is to provide a receptacle connector for an L-shaped coaxial cable that promotes further reduction in height and significantly improves connection reliability.

In order to solve the above-described problem, the present invention provides a coaxial cable receptacle connector in which an annular metal shell body is fitted into an annular metal shell of a plug connector to perform electrical connection of the coaxial cable. A receptacle connector for an L-shaped coaxial cable, wherein a coaxial cable is attached from a direction perpendicular to the fitting direction of the annularly formed metal shell main body with respect to the annular metal shell of the plug connector, A contact including a pair of cable connection terminals connected to a conductor and a plug connection terminal connected to the plug connector, an insulator housing for positioning and accommodating the contact, and a receptacle connector including the metal shell body A pair of cable connection ends Are arranged so as to oppose each other on a plane intersecting at right angles to the direction of fitting to the plug connector, and the housing includes a cylindrical housing body fitted and supported in the annular metal shell body. A pair of bent pieces projecting from the housing body, and when the coaxial cable is attached, the pair of bent pieces are fitted into the plug connector by bending the metal shell of the receptacle connector. Are bent in a direction parallel to a plane intersecting at right angles to each other, whereby the pair of cable connection terminals approach each other, and the central conductor of the coaxial cable disposed in the housing is sandwiched between the pair of cable connection terminals. the center conductor of the coaxial cable, is connected by outside the region where the metal shell body formed in said annular surrounding It is way.

The L-type coaxial cable receptacle connector according to the present invention is a coaxial cable receptacle connector in which an annular metal shell body is fitted to an annular metal shell of a plug connector to electrically connect the coaxial cable. An L-shaped coaxial cable receptacle connector in which a coaxial cable is attached from a direction perpendicular to a fitting direction of an annularly formed metal shell body with respect to an annular metal shell of a plug connector, A contact having a pair of cable connection terminals to be connected and a plug connection terminal to be connected to a plug connector, an insulator housing for positioning and accommodating the contact, and a metal shell of a receptacle connector having a metal shell body The pair of cable connection terminals The housing is disposed so as to be opposed to each other on a plane perpendicular to the fitting direction to the connector, and the housing is a cylindrical housing body that is fitted and supported in an annular metal shell body, and projects from the housing body. When the coaxial cable is attached, the metal shell of the receptacle connector is bent so that the pair of bent pieces intersects with a plane perpendicular to the fitting direction to the plug connector. The center conductor of the coaxial cable arranged in the housing is sandwiched between the pair of cable connection terminals, and is outside the region surrounded by the annular metal shell body. Because the central conductor of the coaxial cable is connected with the Various connecting member for connecting the central conductor of Le is not required, it is Ru can Thus the total height set even lower to facilitate a further reduction in height of the receptacle connector for L-shaped coaxial cable.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of a receptacle connector for an L-shaped coaxial cable according to the present invention will be described in detail.

FIG. 1 is a conceptual perspective view of an L-shaped coaxial cable receptacle connector (hereinafter simply referred to as a coaxial connector) 20 according to the present invention, and particularly shows a bottom surface side to be fitted to a plug connector described later.

The coaxial connector 20 also includes a pair of plug connection terminals 21 for gripping and electrically connecting plug connection terminals of a plug connector, which will be described later, and the outside of the region surrounded by an annular metal shell body, which will be described later. A metal contact 24 having a pair of cable connection terminals 22, 23 for gripping and connecting a central conductor of the coaxial cable to a cylindrical housing 25 formed of a synthetic resin insulator that accommodates the contact 24. And a metal shell 26 having an annular metal shell body 26a for housing the housing 25 and connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable.

Among these, the metal shell 26 is comprised from the metal shell main body 26a which accommodates a housing main body, and the tongue piece part 26b bent to the side as shown in the perspective view of FIG.

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 3, the housing 25 is fitted and supported in the annular metal shell main body 26a, and a hole 25a having a rectangular cross section for inserting the pair of plug connection terminals 21 of the contact 24 is formed therein. A cylindrical housing main body 25b and a pair of bent pieces 25c that protrude from the side of the housing main body 25b and are bent and held from both sides without damaging the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 of the contact 24. , 25d.

Further, as shown in the perspective view of FIG. 4, the contacts 24 are a pair of plug connection terminals 21 that grip and electrically connect the contacts of the plug connector, and positions that are separated from the plug connection terminals 21 by a predetermined distance, that is, It is formed outside a region surrounded by the metal shell main body 26a, and includes a pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 that hold and connect the central conductor of the coaxial cable. The pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 and the pair of plug connection terminals 21 are connected through a connection piece 30.

The pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 described above are disposed so as to face each other on a plane that intersects at right angles to the fitting direction of the coaxial connector 20 with respect to the plug connector.

In order to assemble such a coaxial connector 20, first, the pair of plug connection terminals 21 of the contact 24 shown in FIG. 4 is fitted and positioned in the hole 25a of the housing 25 shown in FIG. The terminals 22 and 23 are disposed between the pair of bent pieces 25c and 25d of the housing 25 shown in FIG.

Thereafter, the housing main body 25b of the housing 25 in which the contact 24 is positioned is fitted into the metal shell main body 26a of the metal shell 26 shown in FIG. 2, and then the tongue piece 26b of the metal shell 26 is bent as shown in FIG. The coaxial connector 20 is completed.

Next, in order to connect the coaxial cable 10, first, the center conductor 10 a is disposed between the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 as indicated by an arrow E in FIG.

FIG. 5 is a plan view showing a state in which the central conductor 10 a of the coaxial cable 10 is disposed between the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 that constitute the contact 24 of the coaxial connector 20.

As is apparent from FIG. 5, in the coaxial connector 20 of the present invention, the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 and a pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 connected to the central conductor 10a are formed in an annular shape. The connection is made outside the area surrounded by the shell body 26a.

When the pair of crimping pieces 26c, 26d, and 26e formed on both sides of the tongue piece portion 26b constituting the metal shell 26 are bent inward from the state shown in FIG. 6, the pair of caulking pieces 26 c bent in the directions of arrows F and G approach the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 via the pair of bent pieces 25 c and 25 d of the housing 25. As shown in FIG. 8, the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 is sandwiched between a pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23, whereby the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 is connected to the contact 24 to be electrically connected. Will be connected.

Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 9, when the annular metal shell body 26 a of the coaxial cable 20 is fitted to the annular metal shell 42 of the plug connector 40 as indicated by an arrow C, the cylindrical shape constituting the plug connector 40 is formed. The contact 41 is gripped and electrically connected between a pair of tongue-like plug connection terminals 21 constituting the connection end 24 of the coaxial connector 20, and the annular metal shell 42 constituting the plug connector 40 and the coaxial connector 20. The annular metal shell main body 26a is fitted and brought into contact, and is electrically connected.

As is apparent from FIG. 9, in the coaxial connector 20 of the present invention, a connecting member for connecting to the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 is provided in the region of the diameter L surrounded by the annular metal shell body 26a. There is no cable connection terminal, and a pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 outside the region of diameter L surrounded by the annular metal shell body 26a and the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 are connected. . As shown in FIG. 9, the outer conductor 10b of the coaxial cable 10 is held and fixed to the caulking piece 26d, and the outer sheath 10d of the coaxial cable 10 is held and fixed to the caulking piece 26e.

Therefore, in the L-shaped coaxial cable receptacle connector 20 according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 9, the coaxial cable is formed outside the region surrounded by the annular metal shell body 26a, that is, the region surrounded by the diameter L. 10 central conductors 10a are connected to each other, so that no connection member for connecting to the central conductor 10a of the coaxial cable 10 is required in the region surrounded by the metal shell body 26a. It is possible to further reduce the height of the L-shaped coaxial cable receptacle connector by setting the height H1 lower (H1 <H (FIG. 11)).

Further, in the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. 9, the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 connected to the central conductor 10 a of the coaxial cable 10 are connected to the plug connector 40 in the fitting direction of the coaxial connector 20 (arrow C). 9 are arranged so as to be opposed to each other on a plane intersecting at right angles, so that the coaxial cable 10 and the bent piece are directed in the direction of arrow D in order to remove the coaxial connector 20 from the fitting position with the plug connector 40 shown in FIG. Even if the cable 26b is bent, the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 are not opened, so that the electrical connection between the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 and the central conductor 10a held by the pair of cable connection terminals 22 and 23 may be released. As much as possible, the connection reliability can be remarkably improved.

As described above, the present invention is suitable for a receptacle connector for an L-shaped coaxial cable that promotes further reduction in height and significantly improves connection reliability.
