上記クロスカッター12としては、丸鋸等の鋸切断機に代わりレーザー式シート切断機が用いられる。これは、鋸切断機では、切断時に樹脂シート1と表面保護フイルム2,2との間に鋸屑が入りこみ、品質不良となるおそれがあるためである。ところが、レーザー式シート切断機の下方に堆積した樹脂シート1の切断屑は可燃性であるために、図4に示すようにレーザー式シート切断機のヘッド14から下方に照射されたレーザー光が切断屑15に当たって、切断屑15が発火するおそれがある。このため、切断屑受け器16に切断屑15がある程度堆積するたびに切断屑受け器16内を掃除する必要がある。

上記課題を解決するための本発明にかかる切断装置は、被切断材である樹脂シートの搬送路上方に位置し、樹脂シートを所定長さに切断するために樹脂シート搬送方向と直交する方向に水平移動するレーザー式シート切断機と、前記レーザー式シート切断機のヘッド下方の前記樹脂シート上に載置されて、この樹脂シートを固定すると共に、底部にレーザー光が通過するスリットが設けられた溝形のクランプと、このクランプの上部開口を塞ぐレーザー式シート切断機のヘッドカバーおよびその両端に取り付けられた伸縮自在なジャバラ式カバーと、前記レーザー式シート切断機がシート切断のために移動する経路の下方にこの経路の全長にわたって設けられ、切断される樹脂シートから落下した切断屑を受ける切断屑受け器と、この切断屑受け器をシート搬送路の側方より取り出しできるように着脱可能に保持した保持具とを備えたことを特徴とする。
