【発明の属する技術分野】
この発明は、パレット積載荷物包装用の頂部当て材、およびこれを使用したパレット積載荷物包装方法に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、例えばワインビンの空ビン輸送の際には、図9に示すように、パレット(30)上に合紙(33)を介して多段状に積載されたワインビン等荷物(32)は、これの頂部に枠状の頂部当て材(いわゆるトップ・プレートもしくは天板)(31)が載置され、枠状の頂部当て材(31)と最上段のビン等積載荷物(32)の頂面との間にも合紙(33)が介在されていた。そして、ポリプロピレン製の緊締バンド(PPバンド)(40)を用いて縦横に、パレット(30)、ビン等の積載荷物(32)、および枠状の頂部当て材(31)が一緒に縛り付けられることにより包装されていた。

このようなパレット包装に用いられる枠状の頂部当て材としては、従来、まず第1に、金属製中空枠部材の連結端部同士を直接に溶接により結合した枠状の頂部当て材、あるいは第2に、各金属製枠部材の連結端部を45度カットし、これらのカット面同士を互いにかつ直接に突き合わせるようにして両部材連結端部同士を溶接により結合した枠状の頂部当て材、あるいは第3に、木製の枠状頂部当て材、または第4に、樹脂製の枠状頂部当て材などが知られていた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来の枠状の頂部当て材のうち、第1の頂部当て材では、金属製中空枠部材の連結端部同士を溶接により結合しているため、片方の中空枠部材の連結端部の端面は剥きだしの状態となり、これでは外観が悪いし、かつ剥きだしの端面よりゴミ、虫などの異物が中空枠部材の内部に侵入するという問題があり、これを防止するためには、該中空枠部材の端面に蓋を被せて嵌め込むか、または溶接により取り付けなければならず、製作に非常に手間がかゝるという問題があった。

また第2の頂部当て材では、各金属製枠部材の連結端部を45度カットして結合しているため、頂部当て材の角部が直角状でいわゆるシャープエッジとなり、パレット積載荷物の外装シートがこれらのシャープエッジに接触して、破れてしまい、外装シートによる塵、埃等の侵入防止の作用を果たし得ないという問題があった。

そして、従来の第1および第2の頂部当て材においては、いずれの場合にも、コーナー部を丸くするには、材料の厚さの範囲内での面取り程度しかできず、外装シートの破損を防止することができないという問題があった。

また、従来の第3の木製の頂部当て材では、強度的には問題はないが、例えば蟻などの虫がつきやすく、ワインビンの空ビン輸送の際に、積載されたワインビンの中に虫が入るおそれがあるという問題があった。

さらに、従来の第4の樹脂製の頂部当て材は、前記図9に示すように、パレット(30)上に合紙(33)を介して多段状に積載されたビン等荷物(32)の頂部に樹脂製枠状の頂部当て材(31)を載置して、ポリプロピレン製バンド(PPバンド)(40)を、パレット(30)の互いに対向する左右側壁(34)および同前後側壁(35)のそれぞれ大きい通孔(36)および小さい通孔(37)を通して、例えば縦部3箇所および横部2箇所において、パレット(30)、ビン等の積載荷物(32)、および樹脂製の頂部当て材(31)を一体にかつ自動結束により縛り付けて包装すると、頂部当て材(31)の強度が弱いために、頂部当て材(31)の四辺の側縁部においてバンド部分(40a)で押さえ付けられる箇所が、バンド(40)の締め付け力によって変形してたわみを生じ、ビン等積載荷物(32)の内部でビン等の一部が浮き上がってしまい、荷崩れを生名前じるおそれがあるという問題があった。特にワインビンは、その口部が上下に細長い形状であるために、隣り合うワインビンの口部同士の間の距離が長くなり、たわみが一層大きくなるという問題があった。

この発明の目的は、上記の従来技術の問題を解決し、パレット積載荷物の頂部に載せられる枠状の頂部当て材の主材を金属製中空材によって構成するとともに、隣り合う枠部材同士を連結するコーナー・ピースを、金属製中空材を横断方向にかつ枠部材の高さに等しい幅に切断した切断片によって作ることにより、強度が非常に大きく、緊締バンドによる締め付けによってもたわみ等の変形を生じることがなく、ビン等積載荷物の荷崩れを確実に防止することができ、しかもビン等積載荷物の外装シートの破損を防止することができて、外装シートによる塵、埃等の侵入防止の作用を確実に果たし得るうえに、その製造を容易かつ安価に行ない得る、パレット積載荷物包装用頂部当て材、およびこれを使用したパレット積載荷物包装方法を提供しようとすることにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記の目的を達成するために、請求項1の発明によるパレット積載荷物包装用頂部当て材は、パレット上に積載された荷物の頂部に載置されかつバンドによりパレットおよび荷物と一緒に縛り付けられる枠状の当て材であって、横断面略方形の金属製中空材よりなる4つの枠部材と、隣り合う枠部材の連結端部同士の間に介在されて両連結端部を連結するコーナー・ピースとを備え、各コーナー・ピースが、金属製中空材を横断方向にかつ枠部材の高さに等しい幅に切断した切断片によって作られているとともに、2つの枠部材の連結端部にそれぞれ突き合わせられて溶接により結合されかつ平面よりみて直角に交わる2つの結合用側壁部と、両結合用側壁部の外端部同士を接続しかつ平面よりみて略円弧形のコーナー用壁部と、各結合用側壁部の両端部よりそれぞれ枠部材側に突出して枠部材の連結端部の前後の側壁部または左右の側壁部の内面に沿うように差し込まれた差込み部とを具備していることを特徴としている。

請求項6の発明によるパレット積載荷物包装用頂部当て材を使用したパレット積載荷物の包装方法は、パレット上に積載された荷物の頂部に載置されかつバンドによりパレットおよび荷物と一緒に縛り付けられる枠状の当て材が、横断面略方形の金属製中空材よりなる4つの枠部材と、隣り合う枠部材の連結端部同士の間に介在されて両連結端部を連結するコーナー・ピースとを備え、各コーナー・ピースが、金属製中空材を横断方向にかつ枠部材の高さに等しい幅に切断した切断片によって作られているとともに、2つの枠部材の連結端部にそれぞれ突き合わせられて溶接により結合されかつ平面よりみて直角に交わる2つの結合用側壁部と、両結合用側壁部の外端部同士を接続しかつ平面よりみて略円弧形のコーナー用壁部と、各結合用側壁部の両端部よりそれぞれ枠部材側に突出して枠部材の連結端部の前後の側壁部または左右の側壁部の内面に沿うように差し込まれた差込み部とを具備しており、この枠状当て材を、パレット上に積載された荷物の頂部に載置してかつバンドによりパレットおよび荷物と一緒に縛り付けることを特徴としている。

この発明のパレット積載荷物の頂部当て材の第1実施形態を示す図1、図2、および図4を参照すると、この発明による枠状の頂部当て材(1)は、平面よりみて長方形を有し、かつ横断面長方形の幅広のアルミニウム中空押出形材製の4つの枠部材(2)と、隣り合う枠部材(2)(2)の連結端部(2a)(2a)同士の間に介在されて両連結端部(2a)(2a)を連結するアルミニウム中空押出形材製のコーナー・ピース(3)とを備えている。

また、各コーナー・ピース(3)と枠部材(2)の連結端部(2a)とは、枠部材連結端部(2a)の全周においてすなわち枠部材(2)の上下壁部(21)(22)および前後の側壁部(23)(24)または左右の側壁部(23)(24)の全周において、コーナー・ピース(3)の結合用側壁部(11)(12)と溶接により結合されることになるが、従来の各金属製枠部材の連結端部を45度カットして溶接により結合している枠状の頂部当て材に比べて、溶接長さが短く、溶接作業が簡単である。また特に、この実施形態では、枠部材(2)とコーナー・ピース(3)とが同じ素材よりなるものであるから、溶接作業がより一層容易である。これに対し、例えばコーナー・ピース(3)がアルミニウム鋳物やダイカスト製である場合には、素材組成が異なるため、溶接が難しい。またアルミニウム鋳物やダイカスト製である場合は、金型費が非常に高くつくが、アルミニウム中空押出形材の切断片(10)よりなるコーナー・ピース(3)では、素材が連続押出成形により作られるため、量産が可能で、製作コストが極端に安くつくものである。
