本実施形態の衝撃回避装置は、HDD1を固定するHDD固定手段2(2−1、2−2)、HDD1を回転させる機能と同時にユーザーがHDD1を回転させるために必要なスイッチなどの制御手段も含むHDD回転手段3、HDD制御手段4を備えている。
なお、HDD回転手段3はHDD1を手動で回転させる構成であってもよい。またHDD回転手段3用に画像形成装置10とは別電源を設けてもよい。
輸送時においてはまず、HDD固定手段2−1を用い、HDD1のZ方向が画像形成装置10のX方向、Y方向になるように固定し、輸送時や設置の際に最も大きい衝撃が加わる画像形成装置10のZ方向と変えることにより、HDD1のZ方向からの衝撃を避けることができる。
