本発明は、二軸延伸ブロー成形等によって成形されるペットボトルの如き合成樹脂製ボトル型容器に関するものであり、容器の胴体部分に不用意に負荷される外力によって生じる変形や胴体部分を把持して内容物を注出するハンドリングの際に生じる変形を確実に復元させようとするものである。

【従来の技術】
ペットボトル等のような合成樹脂製容器は、2軸延伸ブロー成形法を適用して比較的簡易な手法で大量に生産することが可能であり、しかも、ガラス製の容器に比較して取り扱いが容易でコストの軽減を図るのも有利であることから飲料等を充填する容器として多用されている。

かかる容器は、それに使用される樹脂量を極力抑えながらも所定の形状を保ちしかも外部からの荷重の負荷により容易に座屈することがないように胴体部分には、剛性を向上させるための縦リブや横リブあるいはウエスト等、様々な凹凸が付与されており、この点に関する先行技術としては、有底筒形状をなす胴部に、減圧吸収パネル壁部を有する横幅の広い平坦壁を形成し、この平坦壁の端縁に連結する形態で周溝を設け、平坦壁の端縁の中央部から対向する周溝の溝底壁にかけての部分については外方に広がるテーパー壁と底壁とからなる凹部を設け、溝底壁を含めた凹部の底壁中央部に横突条状のリブ条を突設してなる合成樹脂製壜体が知られている(例えば特許文献1参照)。

ところで、近年では、内容物の充填容量が2リットルを超えるような大型の容器も見られるようになってきており、より一層の強度の改善が試みられているけれども、容器の搬送過程等において胴体部分の強度を超えるような大きな外力が加わった場合や容器の胴体部分に指を押し当てながら把持して内容物の注出を行う場合において大きな把持力が付与された場合に潰れ変形が生じるおそれがあった。

容器の胴体部分に付加される力が小さければその時に生じる胴体部分の変形は簡単に復元するものの、大きな力が付加された場合には縦リブや横リブ、ウエスト等によってより一層の強化が図られているが故に自然に復元することは難しく、たとえ復元したとしてもその部位に折れ線が残ってしまい見栄えが悪い不具合があった。

本発明の課題は、上記のような従来の問題を解消できる新規な合成樹脂製ボトル型容器を提案するところにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、胴体部分を上下で少なくとも2つに区分するウエストを有し、該ウエストにハンドリング用の区画凹所を設けた合成樹脂製ボトル型容器であって、
前記区画凹所の下側縁部と胴体部分の相互間に、該下側縁部に沿って延び、かつ該区画凹所の底壁から胴体部分の外表面に向かって段部を階段状に連ねてその部位にしなり性を付与する段差部を設けたことを特徴とする合成樹脂製ボトル型容器である。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面を用いて本発明をより具体的に説明する。

図1〜4は二軸延伸ブロー成形によって成形することができる本発明に従う横断面略長方形状の容量2.0リットルポリエチレンテレフタレート製耐熱ボトル型容器の実施の形態を示したものであり、図1は正面図、図2は側面図、図3は平面図そして図4は底面図である。

図において1は容器の胴体部分である。胴体部分1は一対の長辺壁1aと一対の短辺壁1bとこれら長辺壁1a及び短辺壁1bをつなぐ角部壁1cからなっている。

また、2は胴体部分の上端に設けられた肩部、3は肩部2に繋がる口部、4は胴体部分1の下端に設けられたヒール部、5はヒール部5に繋がる底壁であり、6は長辺壁1a、短辺壁1bにそれぞれ設けられた減圧吸収壁、7は減圧吸収壁6を横断するように長辺壁1a、短辺壁1bにそれぞれ配置された横リブ、8は胴体部分1を上下で2つに区分して剛性の確保を図るようにしたウエスト、9は長辺壁1a側でウエスト8に設けられた楕円状をなす区画凹所である。この区画凹所9は容器の剛性を確保する機能を有するとともに、胴体部分1を把持して内容物の注出を行うハンドリングの際に指先をあてがう箇所となる。

このような「しなり性」は、胴体部分1について高い剛性を確保するという点からは若干の強度低下が懸念されるので、その部位における強度を補償するために凹リブ11を設ける。

段差部10を構成する段部10aは図示の如く区画凹所9の縁部に沿うようにアールを付与することができるが、長辺壁1aの幅方向に直線的に延びるものであってもよく、この点については限定されない。

さらに、本発明が対応する容器の形状は図1〜4に示した横断面略長方形の形状に限るものではなく、ウエストにハンドリング用区画凹所が設けられる形状であれば略正方形であってもよく、あるいは多角形断面の形状になる容器を適用することも可能であり、内容物の充填容量についても2.0リットルの他、2.0リットル超の大容量のものや、350ミリリットル、500ミリリットル等の2.0リットルを下回る容量のもに適宜選択して適用される。

本発明によれば、容器が本来もっている強度を維持しつつハンドリング時に生じた容器胴体部分の変形を速やかに復元させることが可能であり、内容物を使いきるまで容器の外観形状を安定的に保持できる。
