Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fuel filter, and more particularly to a structure that can improve a water separation function.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The fuel filter is a sealed case in which an inlet port is provided at a side portion and an outlet port is provided at a lower portion, and a filter element having an outer periphery facing the inlet port side and an inner side communicating with the outlet port. Yes, the fuel that has flowed into the case from the inlet port passes from the outside to the inside of the filter element, and the fine dust contained in the fuel is filtered in this passing process.
[0003]
The fuel often contains not only such trash but also moisture, which adversely affects the engine system. However, this type of water generally settles at the bottom of the fuel tank due to the difference in specific gravity, and moisture is removed by providing a trap or the like in the fuel supply system (see, for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).
[0004]

US Pat. No. 4,298,465 Specification
[Patent Document 2]
Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 55-41284 [0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, if the water mixed in the fuel is reduced in size by some influence, the water particles are transported with the fuel and directly contact the filter element and absorbed by the secondary side due to the negative pressure. The performance was degraded. In particular, such a tendency was remarkable when the flow rate was high.
[0007]
By the way, the present applicant has found that the moisture particles in the fuel collide with some obstacles during the flow, so that the kinetic energy is lost, the particles are combined and become large particles, and are easily separated from the fuel. It was.
[0008]
The present invention has been made on the basis of such knowledge, and a fuel filter that can improve the water separation function inside the fuel filter by allowing the fuel introduced from the inlet port to pass through the filter element in a diverted state. It is to provide.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a sealed case in which an inlet port is provided at a side portion and an outlet port is provided at a lower portion, an outer periphery is opposed to the inlet port side, and an inner side is communicated with the outlet port. In the fuel filter in which the filter element is housed, a protector case is provided which covers the upper outer periphery of the filter element and which is below the inlet port and partitions the case in a liquid-tight manner up and down. The fuel that flows into the inside flows through the plurality of slits formed on the inner peripheral side of the top portion of the protector case from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side of the upper end surface of the filter element, and then passes through the filter element to the inside It is characterized by being able to flow into
[0010]
Therefore, in the present invention, the fuel that has flowed into the case flows from the outer periphery of the protector case to the inner peripheral side of the top portion and flows through the slit from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side of the upper end surface of the filter element. The case itself becomes an obstacle, and the water particles are enlarged and become large water particles, so that the oil and water are separated and settled on the bottom side of the case to promote moisture separation in the filter case.
[0011]
Further, in the present invention, in claim 1, by providing a plurality of ribs on the outer periphery of the protector case, it becomes a distribution obstacle and enlarges the moisture particles.
[0012]
Further, according to the present invention, in the first or second aspect of the present invention, the top of the protector case is provided with a radial baffle from the center thereof, thereby promoting the enlargement of moisture particles by the same effect as described above.
Furthermore, in the present invention, in Claims 1 to 3, it is possible to enlarge and separate moisture particles by forming protrusions around the entire periphery of the upper end plate provided in the filter element. Can do.
[0013]
Still further, in the present invention, the filter element according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the element of the filter element is formed by folding the filter medium into a cross-shaped chrysanthemum shape, and a filter medium such as a non-woven fabric covering the outer periphery of the element body in a circular shape. As a result, the water particles trapped on the surface of the filter medium increase, whereby the particles can be enlarged and peeled and settled from the surface of the filter medium.
[0014]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a sectional view showing a fuel filter according to the present invention, FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the same part cutout, and FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing an internal component configuration.
[0015]
In the figure, a fuel filter 1 includes a bottomed cylindrical filter case 4 in which an inlet port 2 (see FIG. 2) is formed on the upper side of one side, and an outlet port 3 is formed on the bottom. And a lid 5 that closes the case 4 in a liquid-tight manner, and a porous cylindrical insert pipe 6 that is erected at the center of the bottom of the case 4 and that communicates with the outlet port 3 at the lower end of the inner cylinder. A filter element 7 that is coaxially mounted on the outer periphery of the insert pipe 6, a protector case 8 that is coaxially attached to the top of the filter element 7 and covers the upper half of the filter element 7, and the center of the lid 5 And a flanged screw 9 that is screwed into a mounting hole 6a (see FIG. 3) formed in the upper portion of the insert pipe 6 to hold the lid 5 in a closed state, and an outer periphery of the screw 9. The interposed between the lid 5 and the protector case 8, the protector case 8 is a schematic configuration from the filter element 7 and the compression coil spring 10 for secured around the insert pipe 6.
[0016]
As shown in FIG. 2, the inlet port 2 is opened at the upper part of the side surface of the case 4 and extends in the tangential direction in the case 4 through the check valve 11 and an oil passage 2a that forms an L-shaped intersection with the check valve 11. Thus, the fuel introduced into the case 4 causes a swirl flow.
[0017]
The protector case 8 prevents the fuel that has flowed into the case 4 from being supplied directly to the filter element 7 and has a shape like a cylindrical can that is turned down. And a flange 12 that substantially coincides with the inner diameter of the case 4 is formed around the lower portion. The gasket 12a is fitted in the groove of the flange 12 and is mounted in the case 4. Thus, the inside of the case 4 is liquid-tightly divided into an upper half space communicating with the inlet port 2 side and an inner bottom space.
[0018]
A mounting hole 14 is opened at the upper center of the protector case 8, and a short cylindrical spring receiver 15 is erected integrally around the mounting hole 14. And the lower end of the spring 10 is arrange | positioned in the spring receiver 15 via the spring seat 16 in the said assembly state, and the protector case 8 and the filter element 7 are pressed and fixed.
[0019]
At the periphery of the spring receiver 15, a number of slits 17 are concentrically opened at the top of the protector case 8 on the inner peripheral side, the outer peripheral side, and both, and communicate with the top side of the filter element 7. Therefore, the fuel introduced into the case 4 is introduced through the slits 17 in the order of the upper part-side face-inner side of the filter element 7. In the figure, many slits 17 are formed concentrically at the top of the protector case 8, but in the present invention, it is essential to have slits formed on the inner periphery side. It may be formed only on the side.
[0020]
In addition, a plurality of baffle plates 18 having a triangular cross section are integrated between the outer portion of the spring receiver 15 and the top surface of the protector case 8, and continuous to the edge of each baffle plate 18. A plurality of ribs 19 project from the outside of the protector case 8 in the vertical direction.
[0021]
The filter element 7 includes an inner cylinder 20 formed of a porous cylindrical tube inserted through the outer periphery of the insert pipe 6, and an element body that is fitted to the outer periphery of the inner cylinder 20 and that the filter medium is folded into a cross-shaped chrysanthemum shape. 21 and the upper end plate 22 and the lower end plate 23 fitted to the upper and lower sides of the inner cylinder 20 and closing the upper and lower openings of the element body 21, and a filter medium made of a non-woven fabric attached to the outer periphery of the element body 21 24, and is liquid-tightly attached to the insert pipe 6 via a pair of upper and lower gaskets 25.
[0022]
In addition, a protrusion 22 a that is one step higher than the upper end plate 22 is formed on the entire periphery of the upper end plate 22.
The protrusions 22a and the slits 17, the baffle plates 18 and the ribs 19 of the protector case 8 are obstacles to the progress of small water particles mixed in the fuel, as shown by the arrows in FIG. In addition, the fuel that has entered the case 4 through the oil passage 2 a travels along the outer periphery of the protector case 8 toward the top while generating a swirling flow. The first obstacle with respect to the flow direction at this time is the rib 19, and when small particles of water collide with this portion, the kinetic energy is lost, and the water particles mixed in the fuel are easily separated. Particles are assembled by mutual affinity.
[0023]
Further, a similar phenomenon occurs when the collision with the baffle plate 18 occurs, and then the same phenomenon occurs when the slit 17 passes and the projection 22a of the upper end plate 22 is overcome, and in particular, at the top of the protector case 8 In particular, when the slit 17 is formed only on the inner peripheral side, the fluid flows so as to largely detour from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side of the upper end surface of the filter element 7 through the slit, resulting in water droplets due to the difference in specific gravity with the fuel. It accumulates in the inner bottom part of 4 while condensing into a ball shape.
[0024]
Further, fine water that is not separated by the above obstacles is captured by the filter medium 24 arranged on the outermost periphery of the filter element 7, and this state continues to enlarge, and finally separated from the filter medium 24. It settles and accumulates in the inner bottom of the case 4 while condensing.
[0025]
A drain removal pipe 26 (see FIG. 1) is provided at the bottom of the case 4, and drain water can be removed via the pipe 26.
[0026]
【The invention's effect】
As is clear from the above description, according to the fuel filter of the present invention, the water separation function inside the fuel filter can be improved.
