この方式の場合、最質量の構成物となる鉄心は、分解して輸送される為、総質量100トンの鉄心でも、20トン程度のトレーラで輸送が可能となり、輸送上の制約を無くす事が出来ると共に、道路補強なしで輸送が可能となる。

その為、起立させる装置も分解して輸送される為、工場で組立、起立後、再度分解する必要があり、分解輸送変圧器は、一体型輸送変圧器に比べ、現地据付時間が増える傾向にある。
