【従来の技術】
カメラの交換レンズにおいて、水面等の反射光を除いて撮影するために偏光フィルターを使用する場合、偏光フィルターは反射光の偏光に合わせて装着しなければならず、従来から知られている偏光フィルターの使用方法は、外部から回転させて使用するため、使用するレンズの先端のアクセサリースクリューにねじ込んで使用する構成で、レンズ全長が長大なものでもピント合わせ機構が前群回転式の物でもレンズ先端のアクセサリースクリューに取り付けて、偏光フィルターを直接回転させて使用していた。

フィルターの装着で望遠レンズのような大口径レンズにおいては、実開昭58−159524号や実開昭58−172921号(実公平3−42424)等によって提案されているレンズ鏡筒に対して着脱自在な差込式フィルターが使用されている。しかし、従来この種の差込式フィルターにおいては、レンズ鏡筒にフィルターを装着した状態で回転を必要とする前述の偏光フィルターは使用できなかった。そのため一般には偏光フィルターを使用するときは、従来と同様に一眼レフカメラのファインダー像を観察しながら撮影者が自分の意図した像を見つけだし使用するが、レンズの全長の長い望遠レンズではファインダーを観察しながらでは、レンズ先端まで手が届かない物や、ピント合わせが機構が前群回転式の物ではピント合わせをするとフィルターも回転してしまうため使用しにくかった。そこで、フィルター枠に偏光フィルター板が保持され、フィルターホルダーにフィルター枠が回転可能に支持され、フィルターホルダーに設けた操作部材とギヤ、ベルト、ローラー等の伝達機構でフィルター枠を回転させる提案が実開昭59−95328号、実開昭60−186430号、実開昭64−15208公報等によってされている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、前述の提案はフィルターホルダーにフィルターの操作部を設けたり、レンズ鏡筒本体にフィルター操作部を設けているが、いずれも操作部が小さく、操作部を小刻みに何回も操作しないと目的の操作量が得られず、操作性が充分とはいえなかった。また、レンズの先端に偏光フィルターを取り付けて回転させて操作したときの操作感と感触が異なるため偏光フィルターの回転量の調節が難しいという問題があった。

レンズ鏡筒内に着脱自在に装着される差込式フィルターホルダーにフィルター板が嵌め込まれたフィルター枠を保持するフィルター保持部材を設け、該フィルター保持部材を回転自在とし、フィルター保持部材を連結ギヤを介して、回転させるフィルター操作リングをレンズ鏡筒の外周部に回転自在に設けるとで解決した。また、連結ギヤを段ギヤにすることでギヤ比の調整でフィルター操作リングの回転とフィルターの回転量の感触を調節できるようにした。

以下、本発明のレンズ鏡筒を図示の実施例により偏光フィルターを装着して説明する。図1は差込式フィルターホルダーが装着されるレンズ鏡筒である。10がフィルター操作装置を有するレンズ鏡筒本体で11がフィルター操作リング、20が差込式フィルターホルダーである。差込式フィルターホルダー20はレンズ鏡筒本体10に設けた不図示の開口部に差し込まれることにより、レンズ鏡筒本体10に装着されている。
