本発明は、長尺状の基材に塗布された、例えば印刷インク、塗料、シーラント等、主として水性の液状の塗布材を乾燥するための塗布材の乾燥装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来のこの種の塗布材の乾燥装置としては、特開平10−185428号公報に示されたものが知られている。この従来の技術のものは、図1、図2に概略的に示すようになっている。図中1は表面に施した輪転紙等の長尺状の基材2を巻き掛け、かつこの基材2の走行摩擦力にて自由回転する乾燥ドラム、3はこの乾燥ドラム1の外周の一部(あるいは全体)を囲繞する対流ユニットである。この対流ユニット3の内周面には噴気用カバー4と排気用カバー5とが円周方向に交互に、かつ上記乾燥ドラム1の表面に対向させて設けてある。そして噴気用カバー4には送風機6aとヒータ6bからなる熱風送風装置6がホース7を介して接続してあり、また排気用カバー5には排気装置8がホース7を介して接続してある。

回転する乾燥ドラム1は回転軸9と一体状に回転するようになっている。この乾燥ドラム1の内面にヒータ10が、接触固定されていて、乾燥ドラム1と一体状に回転するようになっている。そしてこのヒータ10は回転軸9の支持部に設けられたスリップリング10aを介して電源に接続されている。なお、上記ヒータ10は乾燥ドラム1の軸方向に多数に分割配置されていて、各ヒータ10は制御装置にて個々に制御可能になっている。

そして上記基材2は乾燥ドラム1に巻き掛け走行する間にこれの内側面から加熱され、外側面では噴気用カバー4からの熱風が吹きつけられることにより、これの外側面に塗布された塗布材が乾燥されるようになっている。このときの対流ユニット3内に生じた乾燥用の熱風は排気用カバー5から吸引されて外部に排出されるようになっている。

また、印刷用紙に転移したインクの乾燥時間を短縮することができるようにするため、画像転写位置に向けて給送される前の用紙を所定以上の温度に予熱するようにした技術が特開平8−230154号公報に示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記した従来の技術のうち、前者にあっては、対流ユニット内にて、基材を加熱乾燥した空気は、まだ十分温度が高い状態で排気装置8にて外部へ排出されてしまい、エネルギが無駄になっていた。

一方従来の技術の後者にあっては、用紙の予熱に独自の熱源を用いた加熱ローラを用いていたため、画像転写部における加熱手段のほかに予熱用の加熱ローラを加熱する手段を必要とし、加熱のためのエネルギを多く必要としていた。

本発明は上記のことにかんがみなされたもので、基材に塗布された塗布材を乾燥する乾燥装置のほかに、基材に塗布材を塗布する塗布材塗布装置の上流側に基材を予熱する予熱装置を設けた塗布材の乾燥装置において、乾燥装置の排熱を予熱装置の熱源に用いることにより、予熱装置における熱エネルギを節約できるようにした塗布材の乾燥装置を提供することを目的とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために、本発明は、基材を巻き掛けて回転する乾燥ドラムの周囲に、この乾燥ドラムの周囲に熱風を吹きつける熱風送風装置と、この乾燥ドラムの周囲に吹きつけられた熱風を排気する排気装置とからなる対流ユニットを設け、また上記乾燥ドラムに巻き掛けられる基材の走行方向の上流側で、かつ塗布材塗布装置の上流側に、上記基材に転接する中空の加熱筒を用いた予熱装置を設け、この予熱装置の加熱筒を上記対流ユニットの排気装置の排気側にホースにて接続した構成になっている。

そして上記予熱装置に中空の加熱筒と共にノズルを用い、このノズルに排気装置の排気をホースを介して導入した構成になっている。

【作 用】
基材は予熱装置にて予熱されてから塗布材塗布装置にて塗布材が塗布され、ついで乾燥装置にて乾燥される。そして上記予熱装置は乾燥装置の排気装置からの排気にて加熱される。これにより乾燥装置の排熱を有効利用できる。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態を図3、図4に基づいて説明する。なお、この実施の形態における説明において、図1、図2に示した従来の技術と同様の構成は同一の符号を付して説明を省略する。

乾燥ドラム1等からなる乾燥装置の上流側に、基材2の表面に印字や印刷するための塗布材塗布装置12が配置してあり、さらにこの塗布材塗布装置12の上流側に基材2を予熱するための予熱装置13が配置されている。この予熱装置13は基材2の表面と裏面にそれぞれ転接する加熱筒14a,14bと、基材2の一側面に対向するノズル15とからなっている。

加熱筒14a,14bは中空になっていて、その軸方向一端には加熱筒14a,14b内に熱風を導入するホース16,16が接続されている。また、各加熱筒14a,14bの他端には排気用の孔17が設けてある。ノズル15の一端にもホース16が接続されており、この各ホース16の他端は乾燥装置の対流ユニット3内に設けられる排気装置8の排気側に接続されている。

【発明の効果】
本発明によれば、塗布材塗布装置にて塗布材が塗布される前の基材の表面を予熱する予熱装置の熱源に、乾燥装置からの排気を利用できることにより、この予熱装置としての熱源を特別に必要とせず、予熱装置における熱エネルギを節約できる。また、乾燥装置からの排気熱が他に利用できることにより、この乾燥装置から外気へ放出される排気の温度を低くすることができる。
