BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a diversity receiving device and various electronic devices including the diversity receiving device as a part of the device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the field of wireless transmission, there is known a problem of multipath fading in which a part of transmitted radio waves is reflected on a wall surface of a building, and a plurality of radio waves having different paths reach a reception point and interfere with each other. Space diversity is a technique generally known as a technique for countermeasures against multipath fading. Space diversity includes a switching method for selecting a radio wave having a higher quality among radio waves received by a plurality of receiving systems, and a combining method for synthesizing radio waves respectively received by a plurality of receiving systems.
[0003]
In recent years, an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) modulation scheme has attracted attention as a modulation scheme used for mobile communication and the like. In the OFDM system, a series of data is modulated and transmitted after being distributed to a plurality of carrier waves (subcarriers) having adjacent frequency bands on the transmission side. On the receiving side, a series of data sent from the transmitting side is reproduced by combining the distributed data. In a multi-carrier transmission scheme such as OFDM, a reception scheme that performs the switching and combining for each subcarrier has been proposed (for example,

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention solves a problem that occurs when receiving and comparing levels of signals received by a plurality of receiving systems in a receiving device or other electronic device to which a switchable space diversity system is applied, and always based on accurate determination. The purpose is to ensure that the best signal is selected.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention provides the following two types of diversity receivers as apparatuses for achieving the above object. The present invention also provides an electronic device having the following two types of diversity receivers as components.
[0007]
The first diversity receiving apparatus includes a plurality of radio receiving means, level comparing means, and selection output means described below.
[0008]
Each wireless reception means includes an antenna level information output circuit, an automatic gain control circuit, and a reception circuit. The antenna level information output circuit is a circuit that detects the level of a reception signal of a multicarrier transmission method input from an antenna and outputs antenna level information representing the level. The automatic gain control circuit is a circuit that adjusts the level of a received signal so as to be in a predetermined range and outputs it. The receiving circuit acquires and outputs the data for each subcarrier from the signal output from the automatic gain control circuit, and detects the level for each subcarrier of the signal output from the automatic gain control circuit, and displays the subcarrier representing the level. It is a circuit that outputs carrier level information.
[0009]
The level comparison means compares the level indicated by the subcarrier level information output from the receiving circuit of each wireless receiving means for each subcarrier using the antenna level information output from the antenna level information output circuit of each wireless receiving means. Based on the result of the comparison, one of the plurality of wireless receiving means is selected for each subcarrier. For example, a multiplication value obtained by multiplying the level indicated by the subcarrier level information by the value of the antenna level indicated by the antenna level information is compared, and the radio receiving means having the largest value is selected as the one radio receiving means.
[0010]
The selection output means includes selection output means for selectively outputting data output from the reception circuit of the wireless reception means selected by the level comparison means.
[0011]
When the number of radio receiving means is two, the level comparing means is configured to output the antenna level indicated by the antenna level information output from the antenna level information output circuit of the first radio receiving means and the antenna of the second radio receiving means. A value obtained by multiplying the ratio of the antenna level represented by the antenna level information output by the level information output circuit by the value of the level represented by the subcarrier level information output by the receiving circuit of the first wireless receiving means is the second value. The level indicated by the subcarrier level information may be compared by comparing with the level indicated by the subcarrier level information output by the receiving circuit of the wireless receiving means. In this case, the number of multiplications is reduced and the processing is simplified.
[0012]
In addition, the level comparison unit is configured to receive the antenna level information except when a condition that a difference between the antenna level represented by the first antenna level information and the antenna level represented by the second antenna level information is smaller than a predetermined value is satisfied. You may utilize for the comparison of the level which a subcarrier level represents. In addition, the antenna level information is changed unless the condition that at least one of the antenna level represented by the first antenna level information and the antenna level represented by the second antenna level information is smaller than a predetermined value is satisfied. May be used. This is to simplify processing without performing unnecessary multiplication processing.
[0013]
Furthermore, the diversity receiving device includes conversion table storage means for storing a correspondence between a value expressed in decibels and a value obtained by converting the value into a decimal number as a conversion table, and the level comparison means includes the first antenna. The ratio between the antenna level represented by the level information and the antenna level represented by the second antenna level information is obtained as a value expressed in decibels, and the value is converted to a decimal number by referring to the conversion table stored in the conversion table storage means. It may be possible to convert and multiply the value obtained by the conversion by the value of the level represented by the subcarrier level information output from the receiving circuit of the first wireless receiving means. Conversion from a decibel value to a decimal number requires a large number of bits, but this is not necessary due to the conversion table, and thus the circuit configuration is simplified.
[0014]
Further, the level comparison means performs the above comparison on the preamble symbol when the received signal is a signal composed of a preamble symbol including predetermined control information and one or more data symbols including user data. The radio receiving means may be selected, and for the data symbols, the same radio receiving means as the radio receiving means selected for each subcarrier may be selected.
[0015]
The second diversity receiving apparatus includes the following plurality of radio receiving means, level comparing means, and selection output means. Each wireless reception unit outputs data acquired from the input reception signal, level information indicating the level of the reception signal, and a synchronization signal detected from the reception signal.
[0016]
Further, the level comparison means receives the synchronization signal output from the wireless reception means in which the synchronization signal is detected, and each of the plurality of wireless reception means outputs based on any one of the received synchronization signals. The level represented by the level information to be compared is compared, and one wireless receiving means is selected from the plurality of wireless receiving means based on the comparison result. For example, the level comparison is performed on the level information output from the wireless reception unit from which the synchronization signal is detected, and the wireless reception unit having the highest level represented by the output level information is selected from the wireless reception units from which the synchronization signal is detected. Select as one wireless receiving means.
[0017]
The selection output means selectively outputs data output from the reception circuit of the one wireless reception means selected by the level comparison means.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
[0019]

However, since the square calculation is complicated, in the present embodiment, the calculation is performed using an approximate expression as shown in Expression (2) instead of Expression (1).
Signal level of kth subcarrier = (I + Q) k (2)
[0026]
In the present specification, as shown in equations (1) and (2), subcarriers are distinguished by numbers k (1 to N, where N is the total number of subcarriers). The signal level for each subcarrier is hereinafter referred to as “subcarrier level” in order to distinguish it from the level of the entire received signal.
[0027]
For example, when the number of subcarriers N = 64, (I + Q) k = 1 ~ (I + Q) k = 64 The information representing the 64 subcarrier levels (hereinafter referred to as subcarrier level information) is output from the receiving circuit 3a sequentially or simultaneously and supplied to the

Next, the
[0029]
FIG. 2 is a diagram showing a detailed configuration of the
[(I1 + Q1) × RSSI1] / [(I2 + Q2) × RSSI2] (3)
[0030]
According to this configuration, the following problems can be solved. As described above, in a diversity receiver equipped with an AGC circuit, the level of the signal output from the AGC circuit is substantially constant even when the level of the signal input from the antenna is low. However, since the signal having a low level and greatly amplified by the AGC circuit contains a lot of noise, the signal-to-noise ratio (S / N ratio) becomes small over the entire spectrum. That is, communication quality is inferior.
[0031]
In order to ensure sufficient communication quality, it is preferable to select a signal having a larger SN ratio among signals output from the first and second radio receiving means. However, the level of the signal output from the AGC circuit is almost constant. For this reason, when the signal level is simply compared by the level comparison circuit, the possibility that the signal output from the first wireless reception means is selected and the signal output from the second wireless reception means are selected. The possibilities are almost the same. This means that a signal with a small SN ratio, that is, a signal with poor communication quality may be selected.
[0032]
On the other hand, in the

Here, the
[0034]
As described above, the

[(I1 + Q1) × (RSSI1 / RSSI2)] / (I2 + Q2) (5a)
(I1 + Q1) / [(I2 + Q2) × (RSSI2 / RSSI1)] (5b)
At this time, since the expression (3) is substantially the same as the expressions (5a) and (5b), the
[0035]
When the circuit is configured based on the expression (3), the level comparison circuit needs to calculate (I1 + Q1) × RSSI1 and (I2 + Q2) × RSSI2, that is, perform multiplication twice. However, in the equation (5a), it is only necessary to perform one multiplication of (I1 + Q1) × (RSSI1 / RSSI2). Prior to multiplication, it is necessary to calculate the ratio of RSSI (RSSI1 / RSSI2). However, if RSSI is processed as a decibel value, RSSI1 / RSSI2 can be easily obtained by subtraction. Further, when the calculation is performed with the decibel value, since the value to be handled is generally smaller than that when the calculation is performed with the decimal number, the storage area used for the calculation may be small. The same applies to the expression (5b).

Hereinafter, the configuration and operation of the

[0044]
The second determination is a determination as to whether or not the difference between RSSI1 and RSSI2 is smaller than a predetermined value. When the difference is smaller than a predetermined value, the reception levels of the two antennas are equal, so that no difference occurs in communication quality regardless of which radio reception means signal is selected. Therefore, correction by multiplication processing is unnecessary.

When the condition of Expression (6) is satisfied, the
[0046]
The third determination is whether the subcarrier level values (I1 + Q1) and (I2 + Q2) are smaller than a predetermined value. Since the signal received by the antenna is kept at a constant level by the AGC circuit under normal operation, it is considered that the reliability of the subcarrier level information is low when the value of the subcarrier level is small. In this case, it is not preferable to use information with low reliability for diversity processing.

The processes in steps S104, S105, and S106 are the same as those described with reference to FIG. That is, the
[0052]
Next, a device for further simplifying the processes of steps S104, S105, and S106 will be described. As described above, when the RSSI ratio is calculated as a decibel value, it can be easily obtained as a subtraction. However, since the output value A or B of the
[0053]
Therefore, a conversion table as shown in FIG. 5 is stored in advance in a memory or a register so that the ratio of RSSI calculated in decibels can be easily converted into a decimal representation value. Thereby, in the process of step S105 or S106, the calculation for conversion to the decimal number expression becomes unnecessary, and the decibel value may be replaced with the decimal number simply by referring to the conversion table.
[0054]
Hereinafter, the conversion table will be further described by taking as an example a case where the RSSI value can take a value from 0 to 147 dB. Note that I and Q are each 12-bit integers, and I + Q can take a value from 0 to 4095 in decimal notation. In this case, the value of (I1 + Q1) / (I2 + Q2) in the expression (4) is a decimal number and is any one of 4095 to 1, 0, and 1/2 to 1/4095.
[0055]
When the RSSI value can take a value from 0 to 147 dB, the RSSI ratio, that is, the absolute value of RSSI1 (dB) -RSSI2 (dB) can also take a value in the range from 0 to 147 dB. Become. When converted to decimal notation, 147 dB is 10exp (147/10) ≈5.012 × 10exp (14). Therefore, when this value is stored in the conversion table, a large number of bits are required. However, when paying attention to the following relationship, the number of bits required to store the conversion table can be greatly reduced.
[0056]
When (I1 + Q1) / (I2 + Q2) is a value in the range of 4095 to 1, and the RSSI ratio is 1/4096 (= −36.1 dB) or less, the value of the expression (4) is always 1 or less. . On the other hand, when (I1 + Q1) / (I2 + Q2) is a value of 4096 or more and the RSSI ratio is 4096 (= 36.1 dB) or more, the value of equation (4) is always 1 or more. Therefore, when the absolute value of RSSI1 (dB) −RSSI2 (dB) is 36.1 dB or more, the output value B in step S105 or the output value A in S106 is not necessarily the ratio of RSSI obtained in step S104. Even if the exact value converted into the decimal number is not output, the
[0057]
Therefore, for example, as in the conversion table illustrated in FIG. 5, as a value corresponding to the case where the absolute value of RSSI1 (dB) −RSSI2 (dB) is 37 dB or more, 5011 which is a conversion value of 37 dB is uniformly stored. Just keep it. However, this value is not necessarily 5011 as long as it can be distinguished from the corresponding value of 36 dB. For example, 13 bits are required to store the value 5011, but if it is 4095, 12 bits are sufficient. Therefore, if the value 4095 is stored as a value corresponding to the absolute value of RSSI1 (dB) −RSSI2 (dB) of 37 dB or more, a storage area used for storing the conversion table can be saved. .

[0068]
In the conventional diversity receiving apparatus, the receiving circuit that generates the synchronization signal and supplies it to the level comparison circuit is defined as any one receiving circuit. For this reason, when the level of the received signal of the receiving system including the receiving circuit is small and the synchronization signal is not supplied to the level comparing circuit, the diversity receiving device cannot operate. For example, when the antenna of the system that generates the synchronization signal is removed, the level comparison circuit does not operate even if the other antenna receives a sufficiently strong radio wave. Furthermore, since the switch that operates with reference to the determination result of the level comparison circuit does not operate, data reception itself is not performed.

The two embodiments and the modifications of each embodiment have been described above. Needless to say, various other embodiments can be considered for the present invention. For example, in each of the above embodiments, the number of reception systems is two, but it may be configured to perform reception using three or more reception systems. Further, the present invention is not limited to an OFDM receiver, but can be applied to other multicarrier receivers or single carrier receivers.
[0076]
In addition, the diversity receiving device in this specification means any device having the above-described configuration, and the appearance of the device does not matter. That is, the diversity receiver of this specification can be implemented not only as a box-shaped receiver having a housing but also as an embedded module or a semiconductor chip.
[0077]
In addition, examples of the electronic device provided with the diversity receiver include a mobile phone, a portable information terminal, a portable game device, and a personal computer using a wireless LAN. In the field of home electronics, home appliances such as videos, televisions, refrigerators and the like having a wireless communication function have been proposed. The present invention is directed to all such electronic devices.

Using the antenna level information output from the antenna level information output circuit of each radio reception means, the level comparison represented by the subcarrier level information output from the reception circuit of each radio reception means is compared for each subcarrier. Level comparison means for selecting, for each subcarrier, one radio reception means among the plurality of radio reception means based on the result of the comparison;
A selective output means for selectively outputting data output by the receiving circuit of the wireless receiving means selected by the level comparing means ;
Conversion table storage means for storing a correspondence between a value expressed in decibels and a value obtained by converting the value into a decimal number as a conversion table ,
The level comparison means includes
The first antenna level represented by the antenna level information output from the antenna level information output circuit of the first radio reception means and the second antenna level represented by the antenna level information output from the antenna level information output circuit of the second radio reception means. The ratio is obtained as a value expressed in decibels, the value is converted into a decimal number by referring to the conversion table stored in the conversion table storage means, and the first wireless communication is converted to the value obtained by the conversion. The value corrected by multiplying the first level represented by the subcarrier level information output from the receiving circuit of the receiving means is compared with the second level represented by the subcarrier level information output from the receiving circuit of the second radio receiving means. Therefore, the diversity receiving apparatus compares the levels represented by the subcarrier level information .
