本出願人が特開平9−175514号公報において開示した包装機は、一対の旋回アームを互いに内向きに回転させつつこれらの支軸を接近、離間させることにより、一対の旋回アームの先端に変形D字形の軌跡を画かせ、この部分に設けた横シールジョーやシゴキ板によって筒状に曲成した包材をしごきつつ横シールを施すようにしたもので、この種の包装機は、成形すべき包装物の大きさや、包材の材質あるいは収容物に応じて旋回速度あるいは支軸の接近離間のタイミングを変えることによって種々の包装物に対応させることができる上で優れている。

しかし、反面においてこの種の包装機は旋回アームを回転させて横シールをする構成を採っている関係上、袋のサイズが極端に大きな例えば「レストランサイズ」と呼ばれている類の包装物を作る場合には、横シールを終えた旋回アームが互いに離間する向きに退避旋回してゆく過程で下降してきた包装物の下端部と接触し、この部分で包材にジャム等を発生させてしまうといった不都合が生じる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明はこのような問題に鑑みてなされたもので、その目的とするところは、包装機自体にさしたる変更を加えることなく、この種の大きなサイズの包装物にも支障なく対応させることのできる新たな包装機を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
すなわち本発明はこのような課題を達成するために、横シールジョーを担持した一対の旋回アームを旋回させて該横シールジョーに略D字形の軌跡を画かせつつ筒状に曲成した包材に横シールする形式の包装機において、上記旋回アームが横シール終了位置から離間方向に旋回する期間での包材の降下速度を、形成すべき袋サイズに応じたしごき動作及び横シール処理の領域での包材の下降速度よりも遅くする制御手段を設け、また上記旋回アームが横シール終了位置から離間方向に旋回する間での上記旋回アームの旋回速度を、形成すべき袋サイズに応じたしごき動作及び横シール処理の領域での上記旋回アームの旋回速度よりも速くする制御手段を設け、もって被包材が充填された包材の底部に上記旋回アームが接触するのを防止したものである。
