【0001】

[0017]
Although there is no restriction | limiting in particular about the number average molecular weight of the polymer component in which aqueous solution has a cloud point, 500-1 million are preferable and 1000-100000 are more preferable. The number average molecular weight of the polymer component in which the aqueous solution of the present invention has a cloud point is measured by size exclusion chromatography and determined by standard polystyrene conversion.
[0018]
As the method for producing the graft polymer of the present invention, a macromonomer in which a radical polymerizable functional group such as an acryloyl group, a methacryloyl group, a vinyl ester group, or a vinylamide group is introduced at one end of a polymer having an aqueous cloud point is used. The target graft polymer can be obtained by saponifying the vinyl ester unit after synthesis and radical copolymerization of the vinyl ester.
[0020]
Macromonomer port real Kenny ethers, for example can be produced by utilizing a known living cationic polymerization method (JP-A 2-274712, JP-A-7-62011). This method is preferable because the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the polyalkenyl ether polymer which is a branch component can be easily controlled, and a polymer having a uniform structure can be obtained.
[0021]
When a polyalkenyl ether as a branch component is synthesized by a cationic polymerization method of an alkenyl ether compound represented by the following chemical formula 4, a polyvinyl alcohol polymer is allowed to coexist during the polymerization as a polymerization terminator, or polymerization is performed. Also by adding after the reaction, the graft polymer of the present invention can be obtained efficiently.
[0022]
[Formula 4]
[0023]
In the formula, R 1 , R 2 and n are the same as those in Chemical Formula 2 above.
[0024]
Here, as a cationic polymerization method for synthesizing a polyalkenyl ether polymer, it is easy to control the molecular weight, composition and structure, and it is easy to obtain a uniform polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution or composition distribution. Living cationic polymerization is preferred because of its high grafting efficiency to the polymer.
[0025]
The living cationic polymerization initiator is not particularly limited as long as it allows the cationic polymerization of the alkenyl ether compound to proceed in a living manner. For example, HI / I 2 based initiators reported in JP-A-60-228509, JP-61-103654, JP-Sho 62-257910, JP-A No. 1-108202, JP An initiator that is a combination of an organoaluminum compound and an additive such as ether or ester reported in Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 1-108203 and Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 4-318004 is preferably used.
[0026]
The molecular weight of the polymer in which the aqueous solution has a cloud point is usually about 500 to 1,000,000, preferably 1000 to 500,000 in terms of number average molecular weight. Further, the ratio (Mw / Mn) of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) and the number average molecular weight (Mn) obtained from a standard polystyrene calibration curve by a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) method of a polymer having a cloud point in the aqueous solution is Usually, it is the range of 1.0-10.0, More preferably, it is the range of 1.0-5.0.
[0027]
When the aqueous solution is to use a living cationic polymerization method as the synthesis method of polyalkenyl ethers polymer is a polymer having a cloud point, molecular weight of the obtained polymer almost uniquely by the molar ratio of the monomer and the polymerization initiator Therefore, the molecular weight of the polymer can be controlled over a wide range by changing the ratio of the amount of the monomer and the polymerization initiator used. The molecular weight of the polyalkenyl ether polymer obtained by living cationic polymerization is usually about 500 to 1,000,000, preferably 1,000 to 500,000 in terms of number average molecular weight. Moreover, the ratio (Mw / Mn) of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) and the number average molecular weight (Mn) obtained from the standard polystyrene calibration curve by the GPC method of the obtained polymer is usually in the range of 1.0 to 1.3. Yes, more preferably in the range of 1.0 to 1.25.
[0028]
About the number average molecular weight of the graft polymer in this invention, it is a polymer which re-acetylated the polyvinyl alcohol component, and 5,000-1,000,000 are preferable. The molecular weight of the graft polymer of the present invention is measured by the GPC method and determined by standard polystyrene conversion. The degree of saponification of the vinyl alcohol component can be determined by quantifying the acetate residue by 1 H-NMR.
[0029]
The graft polymer of the present invention has a wide range of properties by adjusting the composition and molecular weight of both the trunk component and the branch component. Furthermore, the viscosity of the aqueous solution increases near the temperature at which the polymer used for the branch component exhibits a cloud point, and the graft polymer settles near the temperature at which the polyvinyl alcohol polymer used for the trunk component exhibits a cloud point. For example, it has a heat-responsive function different from that of conventional polyvinyl alcohol. That is, the graft polymer of the present invention has characteristics different from those of conventional block polymers because the characteristics of both the trunk component and the branch component are expressed. Therefore, the graft polymer of the present invention is suitable for use as a processing agent for dispersants, resins, paper, fibers and the like. It is also suitable for use as a component constituting a water-based ink, water-based paint, water-based adhesive, or the like or a base polymer.

【Example】
EXAMPLES Hereinafter, although an Example demonstrates this invention in detail, this invention is not limited to these Examples.
[0031]
Example 1
After the glass container fitted with the three-way cock was replaced with nitrogen, the adsorbed water in the glass container was removed by heating in a nitrogen gas atmosphere. In a container, 0.38 mol of 2-methoxyethyl vinyl ether (hereinafter abbreviated as M), 1.0 M of ethyl acetate, 4.0 mmol of 1-butoxyethyl acetate (hereinafter abbreviated as mM) and toluene are placed. When the system temperature reached 0 ° C., a toluene solution of Et 1.5 AlCl 1.5 (20 mM) was added to initiate polymerization. After 1.8 hours, a toluene solution having a concentration of 10 wt% (hereinafter abbreviated as wt%) of a partially saponified product of polyvinyl acetate (polymerization degree 500, saponification degree 10 mol%) was divided into parts of polyvinyl acetate. The polymerization reaction was stopped by adding so that the number of moles of OH groups in the compound was twice that of Et 1.5 AlCl 1.5 (40 mM). The partially saponified product of polyvinyl acetate used as a polymerization reaction terminator was obtained by removing impurities such as a base in advance, freeze-drying with benzene, and dehydrating and purifying. Methanol was added 5 minutes after the termination of the polymerization reaction, and the solution was further diluted with dichloromethane and washed with water to remove the initiator residue. Thereafter, the solution was concentrated and dried under reduced pressure to recover the produced graft polymer.
On the other hand, in order to confirm the molecular weight of the branch component of the graft polymer, methanol was added in place of the partially saponified product of polyvinyl acetate to stop the polymerization reaction. When the obtained poly (2-methoxyethyl vinyl ether) was measured by GPC (measured in chloroform at 40 ° C.), the ratio (Mw / Mn) of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn) was 1. 1 and Mn was 8000.
The grafting rate of the growing cation of poly (2-methoxyethyl vinyl ether) to the polymerization terminator was examined by the GPC measurement result of the graft polymer and the extraction experiment. As a result, under the above conditions, no homopolymer of poly (2-methoxyethyl vinyl ether) was detected, and it was confirmed that a graft polymer was quantitatively generated. The structure of the graft polymer was analyzed by 1 H-NMR. Poly (2-methoxyethyl vinyl ether) in addition to absorption of 1.6-1.9ppm derived from main chain methylene, 2.1ppm derived from methyl, 4.8-5.0ppm derived from main chain methine Absorption of 1.5-2.1 ppm derived from main chain methylene, 3.3 ppm derived from methyl, 3.3-3.8 ppm derived from side chain methylene and main chain methine, confirming the structure of the graft polymer.
Next, the saponification reaction of the produced graft polymer was performed to convert the trunk polymer into polyvinyl alcohol. In the saponification reaction, the produced graft polymer was dissolved in methanol to a concentration of 10 wt%, a small amount of dilute sodium hydroxide aqueous solution was dropped, and the mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. Impurities in the product were removed by dissolving in excess methanol and then dissolved in water. Thereafter, impurities dissolved in water were removed by dialysis. When the degree of saponification of the polyvinyl alcohol unit which is a trunk component in the obtained graft polymer was measured by 1 H-NMR, it was 98 mol%.
The solubility of the graft polymer before saponification was soluble in methanol, benzene, toluene, ethyl acetate and chloroform, and partially dissolved in water. On the other hand, the graft polymer after saponification became soluble in water at room temperature and partially soluble in methanol. Further, the aqueous solution of the graft polymer after saponification was heat-responsive and dissolved almost completely at room temperature. However, when the temperature was raised, it rapidly became cloudy at 70 ° C. The cloudy solution returned to its original state at about 70 ° C. when the temperature was lowered. On the other hand, when this aqueous solution was brought to 0 ° C., gelation derived from the polyvinyl alcohol unit in the graft polymer occurred, it became cloudy, and when left for a long time, precipitation occurred.
