【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は自動二輪車において走行風にて冷却するのに好適なドライサンプ式オイル潤滑のためのオイルタンクに関する。ドライサンプ方式については図2で説明する。

【従来の技術】
自動二輪車において、オイルタンクは、スペースの有効利用のために、車両の前部に配置される。
このようなオイルタンクとしては、例えば、特許第2684634号公報「車両のラジエータ及びオイルタンク配置構造」が知られている。

上記技術は、タンク容量を充分に確保できるようにすることを目的としたものであり、同公報の第2図に示される通り、車体フレームの前端に取付けた操向軸筒2aから下方に延ばした上ダウンチューブ2cと、この上ダウンチューブ2cに取付けたオイルタンク支持パイプ13と、このオイルタンク支持パイプ13に固定したオイルタンク15とを備えるものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記のオイルタンク15は、第3図にも示されるように、車両前側の面を車両進行方向に対して略垂直に、且つ略矩形断面の長辺側が車幅方向になるように配置されるため、オイルタンク15の前面及び側面は走行風が当たるが、長辺となる背面には当たらず、オイルタンク15を効果的に冷却することができない。
また、オイルタンク15は、車幅方向に大きく突出するため、車両が大型になる。
そこで、本発明の目的は、効果的に冷却することができ、しかも、コンパクトに搭載することができる自動二輪車のオイルタンクを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために請求項1は、ヘッドパイプに前車輪を支持するフロントフォークを転舵自在に取付け、ヘッドパイプから下方へダウンチューブを延ばし、このダウンチューブの側方にドライサンプ式オイル潤滑のためのオイルタンクを配置した自動二輪車において、オイルタンクを、フランジ部とこのフランジ部の内側を膨出させた膨出部とからなるタンク半体をフランジ部で2つ合せて成形し、合せたフランジ部の車体前方側が車体後方側より車幅方向外側に向くように配置した。

フランジ部を境にして、走行風を、車幅方向内・外側のオイルタンク半体部分にそれぞれ分配し、オイルタンクの内側面及び外側面に沿わせて走行風を流すことで、オイルタンクの冷却効果を高める。
また、内・外側のタンク半体をそれぞれに並設する部材に沿わせた形状に成形し、車両にオイルタンクをコンパクトに配置する。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態を添付図に基づいて以下に説明する。なお、図面は符号の向きに見るものとする。
図1は本発明に係るオイルタンクを備えた自動二輪車の側面図であり、自動二輪車10は、車体としての車体フレーム11と、この車体フレーム11の前部に取付けたヘッドパイプ12と、このヘッドパイプ12に回転可能に取付けたハンドル13と、このハンドル13の下部に一体的に取付けたフロントフォーク14及び前車輪としての前輪15と、この前輪15の上部を覆うフロントフェンダ16と、車体フレーム11の奥側に取付けたドライサンプ式オイル潤滑用のオイルタンク17と、車体フレーム11の上部に取付けた燃料タンク18と、この燃料タンク18の下方に配置したエンジン21及び変速機22からなるパワーユニット23とからなる。

また、自動二輪車10は、エンジン21の吸気側に取付けたキャブレタ24、連結管25及びエアクリーナ26と、エンジン21の排気側に取付けた排気管27及びマフラ28と、車体フレーム11の後部下部に上下動可能に取付けたスイングアーム31と、このスイングアーム31の後端に取付けた後輪32と、燃料タンク18の後方に配置したシート33と、このシート33の下方及び後方に配置したボディカウル34と、このボディカウル34の後部に取付けたリヤフェンダ35とからなる。なお、36はスクリーン付きフロントカウル、37はヘッドランプ、38はメータ、41,41(一方の符号41は不図示)は車体フレーム11の前部を覆うシュラウド、42はサイドスタンドである。

図2は本発明に係るオイルタンクを備えた自動二輪車の要部平面図であり、フロントフォーク14の後方で、且つ車体フレーム11の側方にオイルタンク17を配置し、このオイルタンク17の外側にシュラウド41を配置したことを示す。なお、43はヘッドパイプ12から後方に延ばしたメインチューブであり、車体フレーム11を構成するものである。44,45はヘッドパイプ12にフロントフォーク14を回転可能に取付けるためのトップブリッジ、ボトムブリッジである。

オイルタンク17は、ドライサンプ式のオイル循環に用いるタンクであり、このオイルタンク17からエンジン21(図1参照)の各部に図示せぬポンプでオイルを供給し、図示せぬオイルパンに落ちたオイルを図示せぬ別のポンプでオイルタンク17に戻す。

このドライサンプ式のオイル循環によって、エンジン21下部に設けるオイルパンの容量を小さくすることができ、特にオフロードタイプの自動二輪車10においては、最低地上高を大きくすることができて、悪路走破性を向上させることができる。

上記したオイルタンク17は、エンジン21の運転中に、エンジン21内で暖められたオイルが循環するものであるため、高温になる。
従って、このオイルタンク17を自動二輪車10の前部に配置し、走行風によって冷却する。

オイルタンク17は、車体側に膨出させた膨出部としての内側膨出部51と、車体外側に膨出させた膨出部としての外側膨出部52と、これらの内・外側膨出部51,52間に全周に亘って設けたフランジ部53とからなり、フランジ部53の車体前方側を車体後方側よりも車幅方向外側に向けたものである。

内側膨出部51は、一部を窪ませた前面51aと、この前面51aから後方へ車体フレーム11側に沿わせた内側面51bと、この内側面51bに続く背面51cと、上面51dとを備える。
外側膨出部52は、前面52aと、シュラウド41に沿わせた外側面52bと、背面52cと、上面52dとを備える。

図3は本発明に係るオイルタンクを備えた自動二輪車の要部側面図であり、図1に示した自動二輪車10を裏側から見た図である。
図はヘッドパイプ12から下方に車体フレーム11を構成するダウンチューブ54を延ばし、このダウンチューブ54の上部にオイルタンク17を取付け、このオイルタンク17とエンジン21とを第1・第2パイプ55,56で接続したことを示す。なお、オイルタンク17の手前側にあるシュラウド41は説明の都合上想像線で示した。

第1パイプ55は、オイルタンク17からエンジン21へオイルを供給するためのものであり、第2パイプ56は、エンジン21からオイルタンク17へオイルを戻すためのものである。
ここで、57,58はダウンチューブ54にオイルタンク17を取付けるための上・下部ブラケット(図6で詳述する。)、61はオイルレベルゲージ、62は第1排気管、63は第2排気管、64は第1・第2排気管62,63を集合させるための集合管、65はマフラ28(図1参照)に連結するためのマフラ連結管である。

オイルタンク17は、内側膨出部51の前面51aに、フロントフォーク14を回転させたときにフロントフォーク14との干渉を防ぐための窪み部67を備える。
この窪み部67を設けることで、オイルタンク17をできるだけ車体フレーム11側へ、且つできるだけ車体前方のスペースに配置することができる。

図5は本発明に係るオイルタンクを説明する説明図であり、フランジ部53の後方から見たものである。
オイルタンク17は、フランジ部とこのフランジ部の内側を膨出させた膨出部とからなるタンク半体を2つ成形し、それぞれのタンク半体のフランジ部を合せて成形したものであり、内側膨出部51を形成したタンク半体としての内側タンク半体68は、車体フレーム11(図2参照)の形状に合せ、タンク半体としての外側タンク半体71は、外側のシュラウド41(図3参照)の形状と合う形状に設定したものである。なお、72はブリーザパイプ(不図示)の連結口、73はオイルレベルゲージ61(図3参照)の取付口、74は第1パイプ55(図3参照)の取付口、75は第2パイプ56(図3参照)の取付口、76はダウンチューブ54(図3参照)に取付けるためのサブブラケットである。

以上に説明したように、オイルタンク17を、内側・外側タンク半体68,71とでフランジ部53で2つ合せて成形し、合せたフランジ部53の車体前方側が車体後方側より車幅方向外側に向くように配置したので、フランジ部53の位置に邪魔されずに内・外側タンク半体68,71をそれぞれに並設する図2に示した車体フレーム11、シュラウド41に沿わせた形状に成形することができ、自動二輪車10にオイルタンク17をコンパクトに配置することができる。
従って、必要なオイルタンク容量を確保しつつ自動二輪車10を小型にすることができる。

以上に述べたオイルタンク17の組付要領を次に説明する。
図6は本発明に係るオイルタンクの組付要領を説明する説明図である。
予めダウンチューブ54に、下部ブラケット58を溶接等により取付け、上部ブラケット57をボルト81,81で取付けておく。
下部ブラケット58に設けた凸部82に、オイルタンク17のサブブラケット76に開けた下部取付穴83をクッションラバー84を介して嵌める。

また、オイルタンク17のフランジ部53に設けた上部取付穴85,85に、クッションラバー86,86及びカラー87,87を介してボルト88,88を挿入し、このボルト88,88を上部ブラケット57に設けためねじ部91,91にねじ結合する。

次に、オイルタンク17の取付口73にオイルレベルゲージ61を取付け、取付口74にオイル内の異物を取除くためのストレーナ92を介して第1パイプ55を取付け、取付口75に第2パイプ56を取付ける。なお、オイルレベルゲージ61、第1パイプ55及び第2パイプ56は予めオイルタンク17に取付けておいてもよい。

次にオイルタンク17の冷却の作用を説明する。
図7は本発明に係るオイルタンクの冷却の作用を説明する作用図である。
オイルタンク17には、自動二輪車10の走行中に、前方から▲1▼及び▲4▼のような向きの走行風を受ける。
▲1▼の向きの走行風は、フランジ部53の車幅方向内側にある内側膨出部51の前面51aに沿って▲2▼の向きに流れ、次に前面51aから内側面51bに沿って▲3▼の向きにスムーズに流れる。ここで、一部は背面51cに回り込む。

また、▲4▼の向きの走行風は、オイルタンク17とシュラウド41との間のスペースSに入り込み、フランジ部53の車幅方向外側にある外側膨出部52の前面52aに沿って▲5▼の向きに流れ、次に前面52aから外側面52bに沿ってスペースS内を▲6▼の向きに流れる。

更に、走行風は、オイルタンク17の上方では、フランジ部53に沿って、しかも内側膨出部51の上面51dに沿って▲7▼の向きに、外側膨出部52の上面52dに沿って▲8▼の向きに流れ、一部は背面52cに回り込む。オイルタンク17の下方でも同様な走行風の流れが生じる。

以上のように、オイルタンク17を、内側・外側タンク半体68,71のフランジ部53で2つ合せて成形し、合せたフランジ部53の車体前方側が車体後方側より車幅方向外側に向くように配置したので、フランジ部53を境にして、走行風を、車幅方向内・外側のタンク半体68,71部分にそれぞれほぼ一様に分配することができ、オイルタンク17のオイルの冷却効果を高めることができる。

【発明の効果】
本発明は上記構成により次の効果を発揮する。
請求項1の自動二輪車のオイルタンクは、フランジ部と膨出部とからなるタンク半体をフランジ部で2つ合せて成形し、合せたフランジ部の車体前方側が車体後方側より車幅方向外側に向くように配置したので、フランジ部を境にして、走行風を、車幅方向内・外側のオイルタンク半体部分にそれぞれ分配することができ、オイルタンクの冷却効果を高めることができる。

また、内・外側のタンク半体をそれぞれに並設する部材に沿わせた形状に成形することができ、車両にオイルタンクをコンパクトに配置することができる。
従って、必要なオイルタンク容量を確保しつつ自動二輪車を小型にすることができる。
