上記課題を解決するため本発明は、ISDNに接続された複数回線の局線を収容した主装置と、主装置に接続された複数の電話機を具備し、該電話機の保留ボタンを押すことにより保留機能が動作するボタン電話装置において、主装置は記憶部、制御部、保留音源部を具備すると共に、記憶部に各顧客の電話番号に対応する保留音識別符号を予め登録し、保留音源部に保留音識別符号に対応するメロディ又はコマーシャルの保留音を発生する保留音発生手段及び保留音識別符号に対応する保留音発生手段に切替えて保留音を出力する切替手段を設け、局線に着信があり制御部が複数の電話機内から所定の電話機を呼出し、該電話機と発信者との間で通話を行い、該電話機の保留ボタンが押され保留機能が作動し保留信号が制御部に伝えられると、該制御部は局から通知された発信者の電話番号により記憶部に登録された該電話番号に対応する保留音識別符号を検索し、切替手段を介して当該保留音識別符号に対応する保留音発生手段を選択し、該保留音発生手段から出力するメロディ又はコマーシャルの保留音を前記発信者に送信することを特徴とする。
