Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an information recording / reproducing apparatus for recording and / or reproducing information on an information recording medium having a plurality of recording layers.
[0002]
[Prior art]
An example of this type of information recording / reproducing apparatus is disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 4-301226. This information recording / reproducing apparatus has a guide light source, a recording light source for scanning, and an information recording medium having a multi-layered recording layer on the side close to the objective lens, and a recording light source for recording / reproduction. The guide beam from the light source for guide is converted into a parallel light beam by a collimator lens for guide, and then the guide track of the information recording medium is passed through the beam coupling element, galvanometer mirror and objective lens. Concentrated in the layer. The scanning beam from the scanning light source is converted into a parallel light beam by a scanning collimator lens, and then the convergence and divergence are adjusted by an optical axis direction shifter and combined with the guide beam by the beam coupling element. The light is condensed on a recording layer having a desired depth of the information recording medium through the galvanometer mirror and the objective lens.
[0003]
In this way, in recording information, the guide beam is focused on the guide track layer, and focus control and track control are performed based on the return light, and the parallelism of the scanning beam incident on the objective lens is changed to the optical axis. While controlling with a direction shifter, the scanning beam is focused on a recording layer of a desired depth to record information, and in reproducing and erasing information recorded on the recording layer of a desired depth, The scanning beam is focused on a recording layer having a desired depth, and information is reproduced or erased while performing focus control and track control based on the return light.
[0004]
By the way, as described above, the guide beam is condensed on the guide track layer of the information recording medium by the common objective lens, and the scanning beam is condensed on the recording layer having a desired depth shifted in the optical axis direction to record information. In the case of performing reproduction, when the condensing position of the scanning beam, that is, the position of the recording layer is changed and the medium thickness with respect to the scanning beam is changed, spherical aberration occurs in the scanning beam spot according to the change in the medium thickness, As a result, the spot becomes larger, the peak intensity decreases, the recording / reproduction performance deteriorates, and stable recording / reproduction cannot be performed for each recording layer in the depth direction.
[0005]
Therefore, in the conventional information recording / reproducing apparatus, aberration correction elements having different thickness areas are arranged in the optical path between the light source and the collimator lens and between the photodetector and the collimator lens, respectively. The spherical aberration is corrected by independently driving the aberration correction element so that a predetermined thickness area is located in the optical path in accordance with the depth position of the selected recording layer.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the above-described conventional information recording / reproducing apparatus requires an independent aberration correction element for the light source and the photodetector, and requires a drive mechanism for independently driving these elements, resulting in an increase in the number of components. As a result, the configuration becomes complicated and large, which increases the cost.
[0007]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention made in view of such a point is to provide an information recording / reproducing apparatus which can be simply, miniaturized and inexpensively and can stably record / reproduce with respect to each recording layer in the depth direction. It is what.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The invention of the information recording / reproducing apparatus according to
A first light source that emits a first light beam;
A second light source that emits a second light beam;
A common objective lens provided so as to be movable in an optical axis direction, and condensing the first light beam and the second light beam in the information recording medium;
A collimator lens provided so as to be movable in the optical axis direction in the optical path of the second light beam between the second light source and the objective lens;
A position detector for detecting a movement position of the collimator lens,
The objective lens is moved in the optical axis direction to focus the first light beam on an arbitrary guide track layer in the information recording medium, and the collimator lens , So as to cancel out the aberration generated by the objective lens and the aberration generated by the collimator lens, The second light beam is moved based on movement data set in advance corresponding to the recording layer, and the movement position of the collimator lens is controlled using the output of the position detector, so that the second light beam is changed to the first light beam. Information is recorded or reproduced by being condensed on a desired recording layer in the recording area corresponding to the guide track layer on which the light beam is condensed.

Further, since the NA of the servo spot is as small as 0.36, the servo spot moves to a position deeper by 0.165 mm (0.55 μm × 3) from the center guide track layer 2-3, as indicated by a dashed line in FIG. However, the aberration generation amount is less than 0.02λrms. Similarly, even when the guide track layer 2-3 is moved to a shallow position of 0.165 mm (0.55 μm × 3), the aberration generation amount is less than 0.02λrms. Therefore, a servo signal having a good S / N can be obtained in any recording area.
[0043]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the recording / reproducing spot aberration generation amount is suppressed to ± 0.02 λrms or less in all of the recording areas 4-1 to 4-5 each having a depth of about 110 μm. Therefore, the recording capacity of the
