[key,messageType,message]

FIG. 8 shows the flow of processing when an EPG object is transmitted to the receiving
[0036]
In the present specification, an EPG object is constructed in an object format as a component program constituting an EPG in the concept of a so-called object-oriented program.
[0037]
The EPG object generated in this way is serialized and converted into transmission data. The converted data is transmitted as a broadcast wave.
[0038]
Next, an editor for generating an EPG object will be described. When the editor for generating an EPG object is activated, a GUI as shown in FIG. 9 is displayed on the display. As shown in the figure, in this display example, predetermined input is performed for each item of EPG ID, program title, broadcast mode, broadcast station ID, channel ID, genre ID, broadcast start time, and broadcast end time. It is made to be able to.
[0039]
The EPG ID is an ID for identifying an EPG object, and the program title is a title of a program corresponding to the EPG ID. In the broadcast mode, the attribute of this EPG object is set. That is, one of ExtendTimeNotation, ProgramChangeNotation, ExpressInforNotation, and RegularNotation is set in the item column of the broadcast mode.
[0040]
The channel ID is an ID for identifying a channel on which the program corresponding to the EPG object is broadcast, and the genre ID is an ID for identifying the genre of the program. The broadcast start time and the broadcast end time represent the date and time when the broadcast starts or ends, respectively.
[0041]
Furthermore, in this display example, the items of “advertising image”, “performer list”, “program content text”, “sound effect”, “favorite information”, “introduction auxiliary data”, and “program configuration data” are included. Correspondingly,
[0042]
The create button 108 is operated when registering an EPG object generated using this EPG object editor. The clear button 109 is operated when clearing the data of the EPG object once input.

FIG. 11 shows an example of a GUI when the performer list button 102 is operated. In this example, the program title is displayed on the display unit 131. The display unit 132 displays items to be displayed on the display unit 134 by operating the button 133 on the right side thereof. In the example of FIG. 11, “performer” is displayed on the display unit 132, but when the button 133 is operated, “director”, “artist”, and the like are displayed instead of “performer”.

FIG. 13 shows an example of a GUI when the sound effect button 104 is operated. Also in this example, the program title is displayed on the display unit 161. On the display unit 164, the names of selectable sound settings are displayed as “dome”, “outdoor music”, “opera house”, “ballpark”, “Budokan”. Among these items displayed on the display unit 164, items set by the cursor 163 are displayed on the display unit 162. In this case, since “dome” is selected, the name of “dome” is displayed on the display unit 162. When the item “Create” is selected with the cursor 163, a desired name can be manually input to the display unit 162.
[0050]
When an ok button 166 is turned on after selecting a name of a predetermined acoustic setting, the sound field set at that time is visually displayed on the display unit 165. In order to cancel the acoustic setting once input, the cancel button 167 is operated.
[0051]
FIG. 14 shows an example of a GUI when the preference information button 105 is operated. In this example, the program title is displayed on the display unit 171, and a desired keyword can be input and displayed on the display unit 172. When a desired keyword is input to the display unit 172 and then an additional button 173 is turned on, the keyword is added to the display unit 176. When a predetermined one of the keywords displayed on the display unit 176 is selected with the cursor 175 and the delete button 174 is operated, the keyword registered in the display unit 176 is deleted.
[0052]
The keyword to be registered may be a keyword in the program content text described above or a keyword unrelated to the program content text. Thus, if a keyword is registered, a program including the keyword can be quickly searched on the receiving side. When canceling a keyword once input, a cancel button 178 is operated.
[0053]
In addition, similarly, the button 106 or the button 107 can be operated to register the introduction assistance data and the program configuration data in the EPG object.
[0054]
FIG. 15 illustrates a configuration example of the transmission apparatus. The program

The sound effects and program composition data in EPG are generated by the control information generator 83A, and the sound effects are the sound effects of the program to which the EPG object corresponds, the dome, outdoor music, opera house, stadium, martial arts hall. It is specified in the case of the above. The program composition data defines image data or audio data constituting the program.
[0057]
The EPG data generated by the

In this way, EPG objects have procedures for producing effects such as sound effects, effective program introduction configurations, and advertisements, in addition to program broadcast times and program introduction contents. Is included. As described above, since the procedures of these processes are included in the EPG object, the user can experience an effective and varied program without performing a special operation.
[0060]
Next, the operation of the transmission apparatus in FIG. 15 will be described. Program data generated by the program
[0061]
On the other hand, in this transmission apparatus, EPG data is appropriately converted into an object, multiplexed, and transmitted with respect to program data. This EPG transmission process will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
[0062]
First, in step S1, it is determined whether or not it is a regular EPG to be transmitted. The regular EPG means an EPG that is periodically transmitted every hour. That is, for example, the same EPG data is transmitted from 5:00 to 5:59 every other minute, for example, and the updated EPG data is transmitted from 6:00 to 6:59. Is sent. Similarly, EPG data that is updated to a new one is transmitted basically every hour.
[0063]
If it is determined in step S1 that the EPG to be transmitted is a regular EPG, the process proceeds to step S5, and a regular notation header is added to the header of the EPG packet. Next to the header, as shown in FIG. 17, a size representing the length of the data is arranged, and next, data representing the contents of the EPG object is arranged.
[0064]
Such data is supplied to the
[0065]
On the other hand, if it is determined in step S1 that the EPG to be transmitted is not a regular EPG, the process proceeds to step S2 to determine whether or not the EPG is an extended EPG. The extended EPG is an EPG that is transmitted as necessary when a program is extended. If it is determined in step S2 that it is an extended EPG, the process proceeds to step S6, where an extended time notation (ExtendTimeNotation) header is added to the packet header of the EPG packet and packetized by the packetizing
[0066]
This packet is also multiplexed with the program packet by the multiplexing
[0067]
If it is determined in step S2 that it is not an extended EPG, the process proceeds to step S3, and it is determined whether or not it is a changed EPG. The change EPG is a packet for changing the schedule of a program and is transmitted every time the program is changed. In this case, the process proceeds to step S7, and the
[0068]
If it is determined in step S3 that it is not a changed EPG, it is determined in step S4 whether or not it is a breaking EPG. The bulletin EPG temporarily transmits information related to the program. In step S4, if it is determined that it is a bulletin EPG that is to be transmitted, the process proceeds to step S8, where the packetizing
[0069]
In step S7 or step S8, the packet with the header added is output after being multiplexed with the program packet in step S9 or step S10 in the same manner as described above.
[0070]
In step S4, when it is determined that it is not a bulletin EPG to be transmitted, the process returns to step S1, and the subsequent processing is repeatedly executed.
[0071]
As described above, the EPG object transmitted from the transmission apparatus is received by the
[0072]
That is, when the
[0073]
If it is determined in step S22 that the current time is not the update time of the EPG object, the process proceeds to step S23, and it is determined whether or not the received EPG object is an EPG object other than the regular EPG object. If the received EPG object is a regular EPG object, the process returns to step S22, and the processes of steps S22 and S23 are repeatedly executed.
[0074]
If it is determined in step S23 that the received EPG object is an object other than the regular EPG, that is, an extended EPG object, a changed EPG object, or a breaking EPG object, the process proceeds to step S24, and the received EPG object Corresponding to the above, processing for changing the contents of the EPG object already stored in the
[0075]
The EPG object has only basic program information (broadcast start time, program title, etc.) immediately after being transmitted. There are several update messages to update this information. The basic message structure is:
[Key, messageType, message]
Is defined as follows. The key is composed of a channel ID, a broadcast station ID, and a broadcast (start / end) time, and designates a program to transmit a message. messageType indicates the type of update processing. Message is information required for performing update processing, and may not be required depending on messageType. In that case, message is defined as null.
[0076]
Each message will be described below.
・ EpgChangeSynopsisText
message: [key, EPG_CHANGE_SYNOPSIS_TEXT, newSynosis]
Change the contents of a program composed of text data. The contents of the program to be changed (text data) are stored in message.
・ EpgChangeCast
message: [key, EPG_CHANGE_CAST, newCast]
Update the performer list. The performer list is defined as an array of character strings.
・ EpgChangeAtomospher
message: [key, EPG_CHANGE_ATMOSPHERE, newAtomospher]
Change the sound effect.
・ EpgDeleteProgram
message: [key, EPG_DELETE_PROGRAM, null]
Delete the program.
・ EpgReplaceProgram
message: [key, EPG_REPLACE_PROGRAM, newEpg]
Replace the program.
・ EpgNestContents
message: [key, EPG_NEST_CONTENTS, newContents]
In order to make the introduction contents of the program more effective, a link is made with data transmitted later such as moving image data and audio data.
・ EpgExtendTime
message: [key, EPG_EXTEND_TIME, newTime]
Tell the extension of the broadcast end time of the program.
[0077]
An EPG object is configured in units of programs. As described above, the EPG object includes auxiliary data such as video and audio for program introduction. However, if all these data are stored in the

[0079]
When an EPG object for each program is received, the EPG manager transmits a message to each EPG object and receives notification of its genre, broadcast time, and the like. And these are put together and the program column is produced | generated. For example, when the user operates a predetermined genre button in the genre selection button 102 of the
[0080]
In response to this request, the EPG manager searches the program table for a program of the specified genre and notifies the main manager of the search result. When receiving the notification from the EPG manager, the main manager requests the display manager to display the notified program. In response to this request, the display manager generates data for displaying an image as shown in FIG. 20, for example. The main manager transfers the image data generated by the display manager to the module manager. The module manager outputs this image data to the monitor 5 via the 1394
[0081]
In this display example, the genre name is displayed at the top of the screen. On the right side of the genre name, the broadcast date and time of the program is displayed. On the left side of the screen, five programs are displayed with a program logo. When the user operates the
[0082]
Further, in this display example, text representing the contents of the program is displayed on the right side of the image of the program. A text or advertisement representing the contents of the program is displayed below the program image. Various messages are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
[0083]
The content of the program in FIG. 20 is based on the program content text of the EPG object shown in FIG. 21, and the advertisement is based on the advertisement image. The program logo is based on the introduction assistance data.
[0084]
As shown in FIG. 21, since the EPG object is an object, it is possible to realize an event by exchanging messages with other, for example, a scheduled recording event object, a program alarm event object, or the like.
[0085]
Next, a process for making a recording reservation will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. First, in step S31, the user operates the EPG switching button 105 of the
[0086]
Next, in step S33, the user designates a program to be recorded. This designation operation is performed by operating the
[0087]
In step S34, when the main manager receives a program designation signal from the control manager, the main manager requests the EPG object of the designated program to transfer the broadcast time. When the EPG object receives this broadcast time transfer message, the EPG object reads the broadcast time corresponding to this message and transfers it to the main manager. The main manager transfers the received broadcast time to the event manager and requests to register it as a recording reservation event.
[0088]
In step S35, the event manager creates a reserved recording event object and registers the designated program in the recording reservation table.
[0089]
As described above, when a timer recording event object is created, the timer recording event object executes processing as shown in the flowchart of FIG. First, in step S51, the scheduled recording event object determines whether or not the current time is a time (for example, a time 30 seconds before) a predetermined time before the broadcast start time registered in the recording schedule table. . If the current time has not reached the time 30 seconds before the broadcast start time, the process proceeds to step S56, where the current time is the time immediately before the registered broadcast start time (for example, the time 5 seconds before). It is determined whether or not. If it is determined that the current time has not reached the time immediately before the broadcast start time, the process is terminated.
[0090]
The above processing is repeatedly executed, for example, every 30 seconds.
[0091]
In step S51, when it is determined that the current time is 30 seconds before the broadcast start time, the process proceeds to step S52, and the scheduled recording event object corresponds to the EPG object corresponding to the registered program. Request transfer of broadcast start time. When receiving this message, the EPG object transfers the stored broadcast time to the scheduled recording event object. As described above, when the broadcast time of the program is changed, the changed EPG is transmitted, and the changed time is registered in the corresponding EPG object. Therefore, the latest (correct) broadcast time is always registered in the EPG object.
[0092]
When the scheduled recording event object receives the broadcast time transfer from the EPG object, the process proceeds to step S53 to determine whether the broadcast time has been changed from the time registered in the recording schedule table. If the broadcast time has been changed, the process proceeds to step S55, and the scheduled recording event object executes a process for changing the broadcast time in the scheduled recording table. On the other hand, if it is determined that the broadcast time has not been changed, the process proceeds to step S54, and the timer recording event object outputs a request for recording start preparation to the AV device to the main manager. Request that. In response to this request, the main manager controls the module manager and requests, for example, a
[0093]
In this way, when a recording start preparation is requested from the AV device, the scheduled recording event object thereafter executes the processing shown in the flowchart of FIG. 23 at intervals of 5 seconds. If it is determined in step S56 that the current time is 5 seconds before the broadcast start time, the process proceeds to step S57, and the scheduled recording event object requests the main manager to output recording start. In response to this request, the main manager controls the module manager and requests the
[0094]
As shown in FIG. 21, in addition to this, sound effects, program configuration data, and the like are recorded in the EPG object. Next, the sound effect control process and the program composition data control process will be described with reference to the flowcharts of FIGS.
[0095]
The control of the sound effect is executed as shown in the flowchart of FIG. That is, first, in step S111, it is determined whether or not a sound effect is defined in the EPG object. If no acoustic effect is defined, the process is terminated. When the sound effect is defined, the process proceeds to step S112, and the EPG object determines whether or not the AV device that executes the sound effect is usable. That is, at this time, the EPG object requests the main manager to check whether or not the AV device that executes the sound effect is usable. In response to this request, the main manager controls the module manager to check, for example, whether the
[0096]
If the AV device is usable, the process proceeds to step S113, and the EPG object transmits the control information of the AV device recorded therein to the AV device (in this case, the amplifier 4). That is, this control information is transferred to the
[0097]
If it is determined in step S112 that the AV device is not usable, the process proceeds to step S115, and the EPG object executes error processing. That is, in this case, the sound effect as set by the user manually is given.
[0098]
Next, processing of program configuration data will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. First, in step S131, the EPG object determines whether program configuration data is defined. If the program composition data is not defined, the process is terminated. If the program configuration data is defined, the process proceeds to step S132, and a determination process is performed as to whether processing corresponding to the program configuration data is possible. For example, when the program configuration data stipulates that the playback sound from the CD player connected to the 1394
[0099]
If processing corresponding to the program configuration data is possible, the process proceeds to step S133, and the EPG object requests the main manager to output a request so that the AV device executes processing corresponding to the program configuration data. To do. In this case, the main manager controls the module manager and requests the
[0100]
If it is determined in step S132 that processing corresponding to the program configuration data is impossible, the process proceeds to step S134, and the EPG object requests the AV device to perform default processing. For example, the audio data transmitted corresponding to the image data output to the monitor 5 is supplied to the

That is, the main manager notifies the EPG manager of the operation of the favorite button when notified from the control manager. If the designated program is not yet registered in the recommended program list, the EPG manager executes a process of registering it.
[0104]
If it is determined in step S141 that the program is already registered in the recommended program list, the process proceeds to step S143, and processing for deleting the program from the recommended program list is executed. In other words, when the EPG manager determines that the designated program is already registered in the recommended program list, the EPG manager deletes the program from the program list.
[0105]
The above processing is executed in the same manner when the favorite button 104 is operated in a state where an image of a normal program is displayed on the monitor 5 instead of a state where the program guide is displayed. The

As described above, the user can register a desired program in the recommended program list. When the user selects the recommended button in the genre selection button 102 of the
[0107]
When a program is registered in the recommended program list, the EPG manager checks the current time and the broadcast time of the program registered in the recommended program list in the same way as when a recording reservation is made. When the broadcast start time of a program registered in the recommended program list is reached, a message image indicating that the program starts to be broadcast is superimposed on the currently broadcast image as shown in FIG. To display. Thereby, the user can switch reception to a program registered in the recommended program list in advance as necessary.
[0108]
In this embodiment, a plurality of types of EPG objects are transmitted. In other words, even for the same program, the method of introducing it differs for each program introducer. For example, it is assumed that a distributor who distributes a program on the first channel distributes not only a program on the first channel but also an EPG of a program on another channel. Similarly, for example, a distributor who distributes a program on the second channel distributes EPGs of programs on other channels as well as EPGs of programs on the second channel. In such a case, for example, the EPG of the program broadcast on the first channel differs depending on whether it is introduced by the EPG of the first channel or the EPG of the second channel. Therefore, the user can select an EPG provided by a desired distributor from a plurality of types of EPGs by operating the EPG switching button 105 of the
[0109]
Note that as a transmission medium for transmitting a program for performing the processing as described above to a user, a communication medium such as a network or a satellite can be used in addition to a recording medium such as a magnetic disk, a CD-ROM, or a solid-state memory.
