Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a flexible circuit board connector that is electrically connected to an end of a flexible circuit board.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A conventional example of this type of flexible circuit board connector is disclosed in JP-A-8-250232. The contact of the disclosed flexible circuit board connector has a contact portion formed by the edge of the metal plate because of a relatively narrow pitch requirement, and therefore the direction perpendicular to the metal plate surface is the pitch of the contact arrangement. The direction. However, in order to obtain a stable contact pressure and to provide a contact at a lower cost, it is desirable that the contact portion is made of a metal plate surface.
[0003]
Further, a registered utility model publication No. 3035692 discloses a flexible circuit board connector including a structure of a pressure member improved in order to further stabilize the electrical contact between the flexible circuit board and the contact. The disclosed flexible circuit board connector includes a pressure member that is pivotable between an open position and a closed position relative to the insulating housing. The pressure member presses the flexible circuit board against the contact when moved to the closed position, but a part of the pressure member is configured to engage with a part of the contact at the closed position. It is intended to achieve a relatively stable electrical contact. However, since the rotation shaft of the pressure member is pivotally supported at a predetermined position of the insulating housing even in the closed position, a uniform contact pressure in the pitch direction cannot be obtained even by engagement between the pressure member and the contact. .
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Therefore, purpose of the present invention is that stable electrical connection between the flexible circuit board in the multi-pole to provide a flexible circuit board connector feasible.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention has an insulating housing that can receive a flexible circuit board and support a plurality of contacts, and a pressing member that is attached to the insulating housing so as to be rotatable between an open position and a closed position, After the pressurizing member is in the open position and the flexible circuit board is received in the insulating housing, the pressurizing member is moved to the closed position and the flexible circuit board is pressed against the contact for electrical connection. In the flexible circuit board connector, the elastic member is provided with a substantially semicircular extension of a post formed on both side ends of the pressure member on the insulating housing side when the pressure member is in the open position. A tongue piece portion provided on the pressure member is made contact with the contact member in the closed position so that it can be rotated by engaging with a mating piece and is prevented from being detached from the insulating housing. Is retained in the insulating housing by engaging a portion, engagement between the elastic engaging pieces and the extension of the post, characterized in that it is released.
[0010]
Preferably, the elastic engagement piece is constituted by a metal part fixed to the insulating housing. The metal part may be a peg for mounting and fixing the insulating housing to the circuit board.
[0011]
Preferably, the pressure member and the insulating housing further include engagement means for maintaining both in the closed position.
[0012]
Preferably, the portion of the post that engages with the elastic engagement piece has a substantially semicircular cross section and is formed at a position that is eccentric with respect to the rotation center.
[0013]

[0017]
4A and 4B are schematic views showing the vicinity of the engagement portion between the post and the elastic engagement piece. FIG. 4A shows a state when the pressure member is placed in the open position, and FIG. FIG.
[0018]
According to FIGS. 1 to 3, the flexible circuit board connector 10 has a plurality of contacts 30 a and 30 b disposed in an insulating housing 20. Each of the contacts 30a and 30b is press-fitted into the insulating housing 20 from the front-rear direction and fixed in a row in the front-rear direction. The contacts 30a and 30b have mounting portions 31a and 31b that are surface-mounted on the circuit board, and contact portions 32a and 32b that are connected to the flexible circuit board received by the circuit board receiving portion 28. In particular, as can be understood from FIGS. 3A and 3B, the contact portions 32a and 32b are arranged to be connected to one surface of the flexible circuit board. Further, as can be understood from FIG. 2, the contact portions 32a and 32b are arranged in a staggered manner in two rows. Although not shown, the contact pads provided on one surface of the flexible circuit board are provided so as to be staggered corresponding to the contact portions 32a and 32b.
[0019]
As shown in FIG. 3, the contact 30a has a base portion 34a for extending the mounting portion 31a and the elastic contact portion 33a including the contact portion 32a. The base 34a is composed of two layers of metal plates bent 180 degrees and folded. A press-fit projection 35 a for press-fitting and fixing the contact 30 a to the bottom portion 21 of the insulating housing 20 is provided on the metal plate below the base portion 34 a. The elastic contact piece 33a extends forward from the upper metal plate of the base portion 34a, is further bent in a U shape toward the rear, and a contact portion 32a is formed so as to protrude to the top side in the vicinity of the end portion.
[0020]
The contact 30b also has a base portion 34b for extending the mounting portion 31b and the elastic contact piece 33b including the contact portion 32b. The base portion 34b is also formed by being folded by bending a metal plate by 180 degrees. A press-fitting protrusion 35 b for press-fitting and fixing the contact 30 b to the top portion 22 of the insulating housing 20 is provided in a portion extending rearward from the upper metal plate of the base portion 34 b. The elastic contact piece 33b extends rearward from the lower metal plate of the base portion 34b, further curves in a U shape, and extends forward. The contact portion 32b is formed so as to protrude to a position facing the base portion 34b. The front end surface 39 of the base portion 34b forms a curved surface. It should be noted that the front end surface 39 of the base portion 34b is placed so as to overlap a part of the contact portion 32a of the contact 30a. Further, the tine 38 including the mounting portion 31 b of the contact 30 b is isolated and aligned by the partition wall 29 formed on the rear surface of the insulating housing 20.
[0021]
Referring again to FIG. 1, the flexible circuit board connector 10 has reinforcing metal fittings 70 provided in the vicinity of both ends of the insulating housing 20 in order to increase the strength of attachment to the circuit board, and a pressure member 50 that is prevented from coming off. The reinforcing metal fitting 70 includes a mounting portion 71 for surface mounting on a circuit board (not shown) and an elastic engagement piece 72 for supporting the pressure member 50, and is press-fitted and fixed to the insulating housing 20. As will be described later, the pressure member 50 is attached to the insulating housing 20 so as to be rotatable. The position of the reinforcing member 70 is indicated by a broken line in FIG.
[0022]
3 (a) and 3 (b), the rotating action of the pressing member 50 and the electrical connecting action of the flexible circuit board can be understood. First, as shown in FIG. 3A, the flexible circuit board is received in the insulating housing 20 with the pressing member 50 opened. The receiving position is indicated by a one-dot chain line in FIG. 3A (reference symbol F). At this time, the pressure member 50 is placed upright. According to FIG.1 and FIG.4 (a), the pressurization member 50 has the post 52 in the both ends. The post 52 includes a cylindrical base portion 52a and a substantially semicircular extension portion 52b. 1 and 4A, when the pressure member 50 is in the open position, the extension 52b of the post 52 is engaged with the elastic engagement piece 72, and the pressure member 50 is attached to the insulating housing 20. On the other hand, it is retaining. The pressurizing member 50 has a tongue piece 51, but the tongue piece 51 is located away from the position of the flexible circuit board in the open state. The flexible circuit board is received by the circuit board receiving portion 28 and inserted to a position where it is restrained by a restraining shoulder 23 formed in the insulating housing 20.
[0023]
Next, the pressure member 50 is rotated from the open position shown in FIG. 3A to the closed position shown in FIG. 3B (see arrow A in FIG. 3A). At this time, the tongue portion 51 of the pressure member 50 goes around to the lower side of the base portion 34b of the contact 30b, and the pressing surface 53 of the pressure member 50 presses the flexible circuit board against the contacts 30a and 30b to contact the flexible circuit board. Electrical connection with 30a, 30b is realized.
[0024]
When the pressing member 50 reaches the closed position, the locking projections 55 formed on both side surfaces 54 of the pressing member 50 are locked to the locking shoulders 26 of the insulating housing 20. The engagement of the locking projection 55 and the locking shoulder 26 prevents the pressure member 50 from rising on the front side. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 4B, when the pressure member 50 reaches the closed position, the engagement between the extension 52 of the post 52 and the elastic engagement piece 72 is released, whereby the pressure member 50 It is possible to get up slightly on the rear side. However, as shown in FIG. 3B, the tongue piece portion 51 abuts against the base portion 34b of the contact 30b, so that the rising up more than necessary is prevented. Accordingly, the pressing member 50 is supported by the locking shoulder 26 that engages with the locking protrusion 55 and the base 34b of the contact 30b, whereby the pressing member 50 provides a stable and balanced contact pressure in the pitch direction of the contacts 30a and 30b. Can be provided.
[0025]
As described above, the flexible circuit board connector according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described. However, this is merely an example, and various modifications and changes can be made by those skilled in the art.
[0027]
【The invention's effect】
According to the flexible circuit board connector according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, when the pressure member is in the open position, the post formed on both side ends of the pressure member is provided with the elastic engagement piece provided on the insulating housing side. By engaging, the insulating housing can be rotated and prevented from coming off, and in the closed position, the tongue piece provided on the pressure member is retained on the insulating housing by engaging with a part of the contact, and the post and elastic Since the engagement with the engagement piece is released, a contact pressure relatively uniform can be provided to the contacts arranged in the pitch direction, and contact reliability is high.
