本発明は、例えばページング受信機等のように携帯して使用する電子機器及び表示方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、一般的に使用されているページング受信機等の携帯電子機器は、省電力対策と、静電気によるメモリ内のデータ破壊を防ぐため、電源投入毎に各回路部の初期化設定として、電池電圧のチェック、RAM内のメモリチェック、またIDコードのデコーダへの書込み、同期信号のサーチ等を行なう。したがって、このような電子機器の場合、回路の構成や動作処理の内容が複雑であればあるほど、初期化設定に要する時間が長くなる。そして、この初期化設定の処理中は、通常その表示部において何の表示も行なわないか、あるいは予め固定的に用意されている初期化設定処理用の例えば「ただいま準備中です」等の文字メッセージなどを表示するようになっている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
したがって、このような電子機器の使用者は、電源投入後、初期化設定が終了するまでは上記のような表示がなされるので、非常に味気無かった。また、コミュニションツールとして用いられるページング受信機等の場合では、着信を待ち受ける準備として、所定時間、同期信号のサーチを行なうので、その間、非常に退屈するということがあった。

本発明は上記のような実情に鑑みてなされたもので、その目的とするところは、電源を投入して初期化設定及び着信待ち受け準備を行なっている間、電源投入下時間帯、及び当該電子機器の状態に対応して使用者の興味を引くような、変化に富んだ表示等を行なう電子機器及び表示方法を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
すなわち本発明は、
(1) 電池電源と、電源投入を検出して上記電池電源の供給電圧チェックと各回路部の初期化設定を行なう設定手段と、計時手段と、この計時手段で計時される時刻と電池電源の低電圧時に対応した複数組のイラストパターンを記憶した記憶手段と、上記イラストパターンを表示する表示手段と、上記設定手段の供給電圧チェックによる電池電源の低電圧の検出結果と、上記計時手段より得る電源投入を検出した時刻とに対応する組に属する複数のイラストパターンを上記記憶手段から読出し、上記設定手段が初期化設定を終えるまでの間、読出した組に属する複数のイラストパターンを上記表示手段に順次切換表示するよう制御する制御手段とを備えるようにしたものである。
(2) 上記(1)項において、上記電子機器はページング信号を受信する受信手段をさらに有し、上記設定手段が行なう初期化設定として、この受信手段によりページング信号に含まれる同期信号の受信を検出するようにしたものである。
(3) 計時部を備え、電池電源で動作する携帯電子機器における表示方法であって、電源投入を検出して上記電池電源の供給電圧チェックと各回路部の初期化設定を行なう設定ステップと、この設定ステップの当初に上記供給電圧チェックによる電池電源の低電圧の検出結果と、上記計時手段より得る電源投入を検出した時刻とにより、複数組のイラストパターンを記憶したメモリから対応した組に属する複数のイラストパターンを読出す読出しステップと、上記設定ステップで初期化設定を終えるまでの間、この読出しステップにて読出された組に属する複数のイラストパターンを表示部に順次切換表示する表示ステップとを有するようにしたものである。

以下本発明をページングサービスに適用されるペ−ジング受信機に適用した場合の一実施例について図面を参照して説明する。
図1はその外観構成を示すもので、ページング受信機1は本体ケース1aの前面に液晶表示パネルによる表示部2と着信報知時に点灯するLED3とが設けられる。また、本体ケース1aの側面には、キー4a〜4dからなるキー入力部4と、本ページング受信機1をキーホルダ等に取付けるためのキーリング部5とが適宜設けられる。
