Therefore, in this case, when the energy of the absorbed laser beam is too small, it cannot be removed because the amount of transpiration described above is extremely small, or the thermal expansion due to surface heating is not so great as to cause peeling.

On the other hand, when irradiation is performed by increasing the number of superpositions (irradiation superposition number) under irradiation conditions of low energy density, not only the surface but also the base material is heated without removing the scale. Separation from the base material due to plasma generation or thermal expansion, which is important in the removal mechanism of the
[0029]
Therefore, it is necessary to set the number of superpositions within a range in which variations in energy distribution are averaged and do not affect the removal characteristics, and heating of the base material by laser irradiation does not cause a problem.

Tables 1 (a) and 1 (b) show an example of the scale removal characteristics of the low-pressure turbine blade when the energy density and the number of superpositions are used as parameters. Table 2 also shows an example of the scale removal characteristics of the blades of the high and medium pressure turbine when the energy density and the number of superpositions are used as parameters.

In Tables 1 and 2, “Remaining” described in the result column means that the scale cannot be removed, and “Slightly remaining” means that a part of the scale remains, but there is no practical problem. In addition, “removal” means that the scale has been completely removed.

The effect of the present invention can be obtained by setting the number of superimposed pulses within the range of 40 times to 1600 times.
[0039]
Further, when the pulse width is longer than the laser pulse width to be irradiated, the energy absorbed by the scale surface in the second half of the pulse heats the scale and further raises the base material temperature by heat conduction. Under such conditions, peeling at the boundary between the scale and the base material does not occur, and the removal characteristics are not good. Therefore, in the method according to the present invention, there is a maximum applicable pulse width.
[0040]
In addition, when the pulse width is shortened, a laser output with a higher peak power is required to irradiate the same energy, and high quality and expensive parts are required as the laser and optical element to be used. Practical undesirable events occur, such as the need to control surface cleanliness. Therefore, the shortest pulse width practically exists.
