Description
2.アクティブユーザ:通常のペースで(即ち、機能を実行し、オンラインの更新及び選択を行い、画面情報の検討と評価を行う等)、システムを使用し、ある時間においてアプリケーションへログオンしているクライアントの数。
3.配備ユーザ:アプリケーションがインストールされているクライアント。
4.タスク:特定のタスク(即ち、作業のサブユニット)を実施するために実行される個々のアプリケーション機能。
5.作業ユニット:そのアプリケーションが遂行するように設計された、作業のユニットの1つを完了するために実行される一連のタスク。アプリケーションは、通常、多種の作業ユニットをもっている。
2.各作業ユニットを形成している全てのタスク(即ち、アプリケーション機能)のリスト。
3.各作業ユニットの使用頻度(決定或は推定を行うことが現実的な場合)。
2.伝播遅延−データがネットワーク上を移動しなくてはならない距離によって表される。

1.カジュアル:パワーユーザは、0分から10分(中間点5分)実行する。
2.標準:パワーユーザは、10分から30分(中間点20分)実行する。
3.データ入力:パワーユーザは、30分から50分(中間点40分)実行する。
2.標準ユーザ型アプリケーションの場合、パワーユーザは、毎時平均10WUである。
3.データ入力ユーザ型アプリケーションの場合、パワーユーザは、毎時平均20WUである。
合計作業負荷=(10xパワーユーザの作業負荷)/2
例えば、パワーユーザの時間当たりの平均が10WUならば、
合計作業負荷=(10x10)/2=時間当たり50WU、そして
BWL=50/10=トップ10ユーザ当たり5WU、となる。
BWL=パワーユーザの作業負荷/2
合計作業負荷=BWLxAWS/LOG(AWS)、
ここで、AWSは、アクティブなワークステーションの合計台数(即ち、ログインしているワークステーション)、また、
10を底とするLOG(対数)関数は、ユーザが新しく追加されるにつれて、合計作業負荷の増加が徐々に減少する。この対数関数は、線形の増加に対しての非常に控えめな変更である。
合計作業負荷=5x10/LOG(10)、即ち
合計作業負荷=5x10/1=時間当たり50WU(即ち、トップ10ユーザの作業負荷)
2番目の例で、BWL=時間当たり5WUで、かつ、AWS=20、であるならば、
合計作業負荷=5x20/LOG(20)、即ち
合計作業負荷=5x20/1.3=時間当たり76.9WU
2番目の例に比べ、線形増加の場合は、時間当たり100WUになる。
合計作業負荷=5x200/2.3=時間当たり434.8WU
3番目の例に比べ、線形増加の場合は、時間当たり1000WUになる。
作業時間(WH)=434.8x2分/60分=14.5時間の作業。
例えば、配備ユーザが100に等しいならば、
アクティブユーザ=100x1.6/LOG(100)=100x1.6/2=80(即ち、80%)アクティブユーザ
2番目の例で、配備ユーザが1000に等しいならば、
アクティブユーザ=1000x1.6/LOG(1000)=1000x1.6/3=533(即ち、53%)アクティブユーザ
1.所定のWAN(例えば、毎秒128キロビット)に対して
指定されるアプリケーションのCF(コンカレンシーファクタ)

配備ワークステーション>40ならば、
AWS=(配備ワークステーションx1.6/LOG(配備ワークステーション)
2.作業負荷の合計を計算する。
作業負荷合計=BWLxAWS/LOG(AWS)
3.作業時間の合計を計算する。
作業時間合計=作業負荷合計xWCT/60
4.所要WAN容量(帯域幅使用度)を計算する。
必要容量=作業時間合計/CF
必要容量>1ならば、より高速のWANが必要である。
必要容量=1ならば、帯域幅使用度は、そのWANの「閾値」にある。
WANの帯域幅使用度=閾値x必要容量。
例えば、CF=20、作業時間合計=10、かつ、WANの閾値=60%ならば、WANの帯域幅使用度=0.5x60%=30%、になる。
ステップ602において、管理者は新しいNAUIテンプレートを選択する。
ステップ603において、ネットワーク管理者はアプリケーションの名前を入力する。
ステップ604において、ネットワーク管理者はアプリケーションのネットワークプロファイルメトリックを入力する。
ステップ605において、ネットワーク管理者はNAUIをそのアプリケーションセットの標準メンバーとして組み込むためにNLE116を保存する。
ステップ606において、このプロセスが終了する。
ステップ702において、管理者はアプリケーションのNAUIを選択する。MEUIは、アプリケーションのNAUIを選択する前にセットアップされていることが望ましい。
ステップ801において、このプロセスは開始する。
ステップ802において、解析エンジン303はそのアプリケーションの容量使用を受取る。
ステップ803において、解析エンジン303はこのアプリケーションのWAN容量使用度を、NAUI500のフィールド「アプリケーションのWAN使用度、アップストリーム及びダウンストリーム」へ表示する。

この例を表す方程式は:コンカレントクライアント数=WAN閾値/クライアントネットワーク負荷の値である。
ステップ1002において、トレースアナライザ901は、以下のように4つのコントロールを初期化する。
2.サーバの識別(ID):このIDは、そのアプリケーションサーバに属しているネットワークIPアドレスを識別する。他の全てのネットワークIPアドレスはユーザクライアントに属している。
3.ローエンドバイトフィルタ:このフィルタは、サンプルウインドウ内の少量データを送信中のクライアントを分離するのに使用される。この種のデータトラフィックは、キープアライブ(keep alive)、前のサンプルウインドウの末尾(テールエンド)トラフィック、或は次のサンプルウインドウの開始直前の先頭(フロントエンド)トラフィックを表す。このローエンドトラフィックは、これらのクライアントが、そのアプリケーションのサーバ101とのセッション(ログイン中)下にあることを示す。
4.ハイエンドバイトフィルタ:(デフォルトモードはオフ)アプリケーションのクライアントの一部が、ネットワーク100を介して大きなデータトラフィックブロックを転送している場合(即ち、ハイエンドクライアント)、これらのクライアントを標準的なクライアントから隔離して、解析が歪められないようにすることができる。サンプルウインドウの中で、ハイエンドフィルタを超えてデータを転送しているクライアントを解析から除外することが望ましい。ハイエンドクライアントだけを解析するには、ハイエンドフィルタをオフにし、ローエンドフィルタを、これらハイエンドクライアントの解析を分離するためにハイエンドフィルタで使用されている値に設定する。
ステップ1004において、トレースアナライザ901は、クライアントネットワークのIPアドレスによってトレースファイルを分類(ソート)する。分類は、そのクライアントのIPアドレスを基に行うことが望ましい。
ステップ1005において、トレースアナライザ901は、第一サンプルウインドウタイム(例えば、デフォルトは0秒から60秒)を選択する。
ステップ1016において、このプロセスは終了する。

入力1−WAN速度。WAN速度は必須入力であることが望ましい。例えば、秒当たり128キロビットWANである。
入力2−WAN閾値容量。WAN閾値容量は、推薦値、例えば128KのWANには60%の値に自動的に設定されるが、変更できる。
入力3−信頼レベル。信頼レベルに対するデフォルト値は95%であることが望ましいが、変更できる。この信頼レベルは、出力ウインドウ1203の中の計算されたCFに影響を与える。
NLAでのアプリケーション解析は、本番アプリケーションからのトラフィックを使用して行うのが望ましいので、NLAメトリックは、新しいクライアント102〜104をアプリケーション112へ追加するときにWANのサイズを決定する正確で使い易い方法を提供する。次に、NLAメトリックを使用して、NLE116及び/又はNGE115を調整する。
Claims (8)
- 入力トレースファイルから決定される測定データを提供する方法であって、測定データは、ネットワークの中で同時並行的に動作している一以上のソフトウエアアプリケーションについてのネットワーク負荷の決定に使用されるデータであり、前記方法は、
(a)トレースファイルを受取るステップと、
(b)第1のタイムインターバルを選択するステップと、
(c)ローエンドフィルタ値を含む処理データを受取るステップと、
(d)第1のタイムインターバルにおいて各ワークステーションからサーバへ転送された第1の合計データバイト数、及び第1のタイムインターバルにおいて該サーバから各ワークステーションへ転送された2番目の合計データバイト数を受取ったトレースファイルから導き出すステップと、
(e)導き出された第1の合計データバイト数、2番目の合計データバイト数、及びローエンドフィルタ値に応じて、第1のタイムインターバル内でアクティブなワークステーションを決定するステップと、
(f)各アクティブワークステーションからサーバへ転送される第1の平均データバイト数、及びそのサーバから各アクティブワークステーションへ転送される2番目の平均データバイト数を計算するステップと、
(g)ネットワーク上のワークステーションの合計台数に対するアクティブワークステーションの台数に基づいて平均のクライアントコンカレンシーレートを計算するステップと、
(h)前記コンカレンシーレートを含む測定データを出力のために提供するステップとを含む、入力トレースファイルから決定される測定データを提供する方法。 - 処理データは、更に
(a)サンプルインターバルタイム、
(b)サーバ識別情報(ID)、及び
(c)ハイエンドバイトフィルタ
の内の少なくとも1つを含み、
前記アクティブワークステーションは、前記処理データに応じて決定される、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 新しい第1のタイムインターバルを選択し、新しい第1のタイムインターバルに対してステップd、e、f、及びgを繰返すステップを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 2番目のトレースファイルを受け取り、その2番目のトレースファイルに対してステップd、e、f、及びgを繰返すステップを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- (a)各アクティブワークステーションからサーバへ転送される第1の平均データバイト数、
(b)サーバから各アクティブワークステーションへ転送される2番目の平均データバイト数、
(c)第1のタイムインターバル、及び
(d)ネットワーク速度
に基づいて負荷ファクタを計算するステップを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 第1の平均数及び2番目平均数の和を、第1のインターバルタイム、及び、秒当たりのバイト数で表されるネットワーク速度で割算することによって負荷ファクタを計算するステップを更に含む、請求項5に記載の方法。
- トレースファイルを、ネットワーク内の各ワークステーションのネットワークIPアドレスによって分類するステップを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1のタイムインターバル内の相対タイムスタンプ値をトレースファイルにマークするステップを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
