記録紙上のトナー像を加圧バネを用いて圧接させたヒートローラ及びプレスローラを用いて定着させる定着装置であって、外壁が装置の外装面となる筐体が記録紙搬送方向の略直角方向に分割線を設けて第1及び第2の筐体に分割可能にした定着装置において、
前記第1の筐体は耐熱樹脂により、前記外壁、記録紙搬送用の開口部、案内部の一部及び電装品取り付け部位を樹脂一体成形で付設し、上記ヒートローラとプレスローラとそれらの駆動部を支持するための一対の側板が基準部に嵌め込まれ、
該側板の前記第 1 の筐体に嵌め込まれていない自由端側には前記加圧バネが掛け渡され、
前記第2の筐体は耐熱樹脂により外壁、記録紙搬送用の開口部及び案内部の一部を樹脂一体成型で形成するとともに記録紙搬送用分離爪を取り付けたことを特徴とする定着装置。
