Description
The present invention relates to a lateral pillow that can sleep in a lateral position.
This sleep breathing disorder (hereinafter referred to as “sleep breathing disorder”), which falls into an apnea state or a hypopnea state, is doubled in apnea and hypopnea when the posture during sleep is in the supine position than in the lateral position. The case where the above increases is defined as position-dependent sleep disordered breathing.
AHI (apnea / hypopnea index) is used for the evaluation of the severity of sleep-disordered breathing. Usually, in a patient with position-dependent sleep-disordered breathing, the AHI in the supine position is increased more than twice that of the lateral position. In addition, according to the data possessed by the applicant, about half of the patients with posture-dependent sleep disordered breathing have an AHI in the lateral position of 10 or less (normal range), and sleep due to the lateral position indicates the respiratory state during sleep. It suggests that it is one of the effective means to improve.
However, conventional pillows are generally formed into a three-dimensional shape by filling a bag-like pillow case with an appropriate filler such as sponge, feathers, or buckwheat husk.
For this reason, if a patient with posture-dependent sleep-disordered breathing sleeps using a conventional pillow, when sleeping, even if he sleeps in a lateral position, he lies in the sleeping position, etc. As a result, there is a problem that it is difficult to suppress the occurrence of sleep breathing disorder.
In view of this, pillows have been developed that tend to be in a lateral position with the left and right intermediate portions of the pillow protruding. However, this type of pillow has a drawback that it easily returns to the supine position because it is easy to unintentionally remove the pillow during sleep.
The present invention has been made in view of the above facts, and by attaching the pillow main body so as to sandwich the head, the pillow can be returned to the side position even if it is in the supine position during sleep. The lateral position pillow of the present invention can reduce sleep breathing disorder by increasing the ratio of the lateral position by returning to the lateral position again even if going from the lateral position to the supine position during sleep. It has an excellent effect.
Examples of the best mode for carrying out the invention are shown below.
