Description
【0001】
映像、音声等の情報が記録された光ディスクとしては、いわゆるLD(Laser Disc) ,CD(Compact Disc)等が広く普及している。
【0003】
一方、近年、上記CDに対して光ディスクの大きさを変えずに記憶容量を約10倍に向上させたDVD(Digital Video Disc 又は Digital Versatile Disc)についての提案や開発が盛んに行われている。
【0016】
一のVTS4は、VTSI(Video Title Set Information)11を先頭として、夫々にID番号を有する複数のVOB(Video OBject)10に分割されて記録されている。
【0034】
続いてAMG(Audio Manager )202が記録される。
【0035】
一のATS203は、ATSI(Audio Title Set Information)211を先頭として、夫々にID番号を有する複数のAOB(Audio Object)210から構成される。
【0090】
(4.3.1 )AMG、ATSI、
【0091】
AMG202は、ナビゲーション情報の実体部分であるAMGI(AMG Information )240を含む。
【0101】
(4.3.2 )VMG、VTSI、
VMG3は、ナビゲーション情報の実体部分であるVMGI(VMG Information )を含む。

FIFO(First In First Out)メモリ等により構成され、入力された復調信号Sdmを一時的に記憶すると共に、ストリームスイッチ84が閉とされているときには、記憶した復調信号Sdmを連続的に出力する。
【0163】

[Industrial application fields]
The present invention relates to an information recording medium such as a high-density optical disc capable of recording information such as video and audio represented by a DVD at a high density, and a reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method for reproducing information from the information recording medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As optical discs on which information such as video and audio is recorded, so-called LD (Laser Disc), CD (Compact Disc) and the like are widely used. However, in LD or the like, it has been impossible to perform a playback mode rich in so-called interactive change that a viewer has choices about video and audio to be played back and that the viewer selects. For example, when playing a foreign movie recorded on the LD, select whether the subtitles displayed on the screen will be in Japanese or English, and select whether to listen to the recorded audio in Japanese or English It is not possible.
[0003]
On the other hand, in recent years, proposals and developments on DVDs (Digital Video Discs or Digital Versatile Discs) in which the storage capacity has been improved about 10 times without changing the size of the optical discs relative to the CDs have been actively conducted. By recording the reproduction control information along with the subtitles and sounds in the plurality of languages on the DVD, it is possible to perform reproduction rich in interactive changes by making the viewer selectable.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Since DVD has a large storage capacity, not only video information or music information but also music and video information can be recorded simultaneously. In order to realize various reproduction modes that are interactive and varied with respect to the video information and music information (hereinafter referred to as entity information), reproduction control information indicating a reproduction procedure of the entity information is also recorded.
[0005]
This reproduction control information is recorded on the disc so as to form a hierarchical structure in order to realize various and complicated functions with a simpler structure. Further, the reproduction control information is recorded in a distributed manner on the disc for each entity information having a certain unit according to the hierarchical structure. In the DVD video format, a very large number of functions can be realized due to its interactivity, and various reproduction modes can be presented to the user. Therefore, the reproduction control information must be complicated. This playback control information is premised on a player that can realize all the playback modes (functions) prepared.
[0006]
However, for example, in a DVD player dedicated to audio reproduction, when only audio information in video information recorded on a DVD is to be reproduced (for example, only audio information is reproduced from a DVD containing a live performance of a singer) The reproduction control information includes a lot of unnecessary information. Since a DVD player dedicated to audio reproduction does not need to reproduce video information, reproduction control information necessary for interactive reproduction of video such as subtitles and multi-angles is unnecessary.
[0007]
Even in the case of a DVD player dedicated to audio reproduction, various information for realizing various reproduction modes is prepared in the reproduction control information even if only audio information is reproduced. For a simple player that only needs to reproduce linear PCM audio information in a 2ch stereo playback format among audio-only DVD players, only the information necessary for the 2ch stereo playback format is selected from the audio information playback control information. Processing to select occurs.
[0008]
Furthermore, since the reproduction control information and the entity information are distributed and arranged, for example, when trying to know the total reproduction time of the entire disc, it is necessary to collect and calculate various reproduction control information recorded in a distributed manner. In such a structure in which reproduction control information for realizing a complicated function more easily is distributed and recorded on the disc, complicated processing is required instead of grasping information on the entire disc collectively. Also occurs.
[0009]
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and the problem is that various and complex functions can be realized, and reproduction can be performed by simpler processing when a limited part of the functions is realized. It is an object of the present invention to provide an information recording medium, a reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method thereof.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a recording medium having a video area for recording AV information mainly including video information and audio information accompanying the video information, and an audio area for mainly recording audio information. Navigation information for a video player capable of reproducing video, navigation information for an audio player capable of reproducing audio information in the video area and audio information in the audio area, audio information in the video area, and the audio area Navigation information for a simple audio player for reproducing the audio information by a simple audio player, and navigation information for a compatible player capable of reproducing both the AV information and the audio information.
[0011]
According to an eleventh aspect of the present invention, in the information reproducing apparatus for reproducing information from the recording medium according to the first aspect, the navigation information for the video player, the navigation information for the audio player, the navigation information for the simple audio player, and the compatible It comprises selection means for selecting any of the player navigation information, and reproduction means for reproducing the recorded information from the recording medium based on the selected navigation information.

(3) Types of DVD
Next, the type of disc in the DVD will be described. In the following description, regarding information recorded on a DVD, information including both video and audio, such as a movie, may be referred to as “AV information”, and information of only the video portion is referred to as “video ( (Or video) information ”. Also, only audio part of AV information such as movies and only audio information such as music is called “audio (or voice) information”.
[0051]
Further, as a DVD player for reproducing these various DVD discs, a video DVD player capable of reproducing AV information in the DVD video format (hereinafter referred to as “video player”), and various audio information in the DVD audio format are used. An audio DVD player (hereinafter referred to as “audio player”) that is played in a playback mode, a simple audio DVD player (hereinafter referred to as “simple audio player”) that reproduces LPCM audio information in the DVD audio format in 2ch, and There are four types of compatible DVD players (hereinafter referred to as “compatible players”) that can reproduce both AV information in DVD video format and audio information in DVD audio format. Each DVD player will be described in detail later.
[0052]
There are four types of DVDs for recording AV information or audio information: video DVDs, video DVDs with audio navigation, audio-only DVDs, and audio / video DVDs. FIG. 5 schematically shows physical formats of four types of DVDs. These DVDs all have the same disk shape and information recording method (modulation method, track pitch, pit size, etc.), and only the information content (content) is different.
[0053]
(3.1) Video DVD
In FIG. 5, a video DVD is shown at the top. On this disc, video information such as a movie according to the DVD video format and audio information (that is, AV information) reproduced at the same time are recorded. Accordingly, only the video zone exists in the recording area between the lead-in area LI and the lead-out area LO, and playback control information, video information, and audio information are recorded in a plurality of VTSs, and management of these VTSs is performed. A VMG including information is recorded. As described with reference to FIG. 1, video information is recorded as a video pack, and audio information is recorded as an audio pack.
[0054]
This video DVD is reproduced by a video player and a compatible player based on navigation information (information defining control information for reproduction, which will be described in detail later) included in the management information recorded in the VMG. The However, since navigation information in the DVD audio format is not recorded, it cannot be reproduced by an audio player.
[0055]
(3.2) Video DVD with audio navigation
The second level shows a type of video disc called a video DVD with audio navigation. This video DVD with audio navigation can reproduce video information (including accompanying audio information) such as a movie in a DVD video format by a video player, and also records navigation information in a DVD audio format. This is a disc that allows a player to reproduce only audio information of AV information of VOB in VTS. A portion of AV information in which only audio information can be reproduced by an audio player is called an audio play part.
[0056]
The recording format of the video DVD with audio navigation is based on the DVD video format shown in FIG. 1, and AV information is recorded in the video zone in the form of a plurality of VTSs. In addition to this, the video DVD with audio navigation has an ATSI including first reproduction control information necessary for reproducing only audio information in the VTS conforming to the DVD audio format in front of the video zone as an audio zone. ATS is recorded, and AMG as ATS management information is recorded. AOB, which is a substantial part of audio information, is not recorded in ATS. That is, in this AMG and ATSI, the audio information (specifically, the audio play part audio pack (see FIG. 1) in each VOB) included in each VTS in the video DVD with audio navigation is reproduced by the audio player. Navigation information is described. SAPPT including the second reproduction control information is recorded at the head of the audio zone.
[0057]
This video DVD with audio navigation is reproduced by a video player and a compatible player based on the navigation information recorded in the VMG and the first reproduction control information recorded in the VTSI. Also, the audio information of the audio play part is played back in various playback modes in accordance with the player's ability based on the navigation information recorded in the AMG and the first playback control information recorded in the ATSI. . Further, the LPCM information of the audio play part is reproduced in 2ch by a portable type simple audio player based on the management information and the second reproduction control information recorded in the SAPPT.
[0058]
(3.3) Audio-only DVD
The third level shows an audio-only DVD. Only audio information is recorded on this disc except for some still images and text information. Therefore, the recording area between the lead-in area LI and the lead-out area LO has only an audio zone compliant with the DVD audio format, and ATSI and AOB are recorded as a plurality of ATSs, and management information of these ATSs is recorded. Contains AMG. Furthermore, SAPPT is recorded at the head of the audio zone.
[0059]
Each ATS includes one or a plurality of AOBs that are the substantial part of the audio information. This audio-only DVD is an audio player and a compatible player based on the navigation information recorded in the AMG and the first playback control information recorded in the ATSI. It is played back in playback mode. Further, LPCM information in the audio zone is reproduced in 2ch by a portable audio player based on the management information and the second reproduction control information recorded in SAPPT.
[0060]
However, since navigation information in the DVD video format is not recorded on the audio-only DVD, it cannot be reproduced by a video player.
[0061]
(3.4) DVD for audio and video
What is shown at the bottom of FIG. 5 is an audio / video DVD. There are an audio zone and a video zone between the lead-in area LI and the lead-out LO. Similar to a video DVD, a VTS including a VMG according to a DVD video format, first reproduction control information, and actual AV information (VOB) is recorded in the video zone.
[0062]
SAPPT including second reproduction control information is recorded at the head of the audio zone according to the DVD audio format. Similar to the audio-only DVD, the audio zone not only records a plurality of ATSs (
[0063]
In the case of a DVD for both audio and video, the AMG not only includes management information for all ATSs in the audio zone, but also includes management information that includes all ATSs and VTSs in the audio zone and video zone. The SAPPT also includes management information including all ATSs and VTSs in the audio zone and the video zone. However, the management information in the SAPPT is only related to LPCM data that can be reproduced by 2ch in both zones.
[0064]
Here, the audio / video dual-use DVD is different from a video disc with audio navigation and an audio-only DVD in that the recording area of the disc is divided into an audio zone and a video zone, respectively, depending on the AV information by the DVD video format and the DVD audio format. The audio information is recorded, and the AMG and SAPPT recorded in the audio zone include management information including all ATSs and VTSs in the disc.
[0065]
More specifically, in a video disc with audio navigation, audio information is recorded in a VOB multiplexed with video information in units of packs based on the DVD video format. APGCI, which is first reproduction control information for reproducing audio information recorded in the VOB, is configured as ATSI, and only these ATSs are managed by AMG. No title management information in the video zone is recorded in the AMG. Similarly, navigation information related to the audio play part in the video zone is also described in SAPPT.
[0066]
In contrast, an audio / video DVD has separate areas for recording audio information in the DVD audio format and AV information in the DVD video format. In the audio zone, the actual part of the audio information is recorded in each ATS as a plurality of AOBs by the DVD audio format shown in FIG. Furthermore, not only the ATS in which APGCI, which is the playback control information of the audio information in each ATS, is recorded in the ATSI, but also the first playback control information for playing back the audio information recorded in the VOB in the VTS of the video zone. Are recorded in the ATSI as APGCI (the audio substance information is in the video zone, and only the ATSI as the navigation information exists as the ATS). That is, all the first reproduction control information for reproducing the audio information regardless of the zone is managed by the AMG in the ATS.
[0067]
Furthermore, information related to a track that can be played back by 2ch among the tracks related to playback of LPCM audio information recorded in all ATSs and VTSs is recorded in SAPPT as second playback control information.
[0068]
On the other hand, in the video zone, AV information is recorded as a plurality of VTSs, and further, the first playback control information for reproducing the AV information in each VTS is recorded as PGCI in VTSI, and all these VTSs are recorded in VMG. I manage. AMG also manages all of the first playback control information related to AV information playback in the video zone. Specifically, in the case of an audio-only DVD and an audio / video DVD, AMG is general management information, and in the case of a video DVD, VMG is main management information. In the case of a video DVD with audio navigation, AMG manages only reproduction of audio information (audio title) in the VOB by the audio player, and does not manage video titles.
[0069]
In the case of an audio-only DVD and an audio / video DVD, SAPPT is comprehensive management information for reproducing LPCM audio information in 2ch by a simple audio player. In the case of a video DVD, since there is no SAPPT, even if it is recorded in LPCM, only audio information is not reproduced by a simple player. In the case of a video DVD with audio navigation, SAPPT manages only the reproduction of LPCM audio information (audio title) of the audio play part in the VOB by the simple audio player, and does not manage the video title.
[0070]
By adopting such a structure, optimum reproduction can be performed according to the capability of the reproducing apparatus, and compatibility compatible between each disk and each reproducing apparatus is realized.
[0071]
(4) Title playback control
Next, the playback control of the title using the first playback control information will be described in more detail. Here, the title is composed of entity information such as AV information and audio information recorded on the DVD and playback control information indicating the playback procedure (see
[0072]
(4.1) Title type
First, a title in the audio DVD (
[0073]
AOTT is a title in which only audio information is reproduced, and its entity information is composed of audio information recorded in the AOB in the audio zone.
[0074]
AVTT is a title in which audio information is always reproduced with video information, and its entity information is composed of AV information recorded in a VOB in the video zone. In AVTT, reproduction of only audio information is not permitted, and reproduction with video information is essential.
[0075]
AVTT / AOTT is a title that can be played back only with audio information, and can also play back audio information along with video information as AV information (that is, it can be called a dual-purpose title). Is composed of AV information recorded in the VOB in the video zone. Whether the AVTT / AOTT is reproduced as AV information or audio information depends on the capability of the reproducing apparatus. That is, a playback device (audio player) that does not have AV information playback capability plays back AVTT / AOTT using only audio information, and a playback device (video player and compatible player) that has AV information playback capability plays back AVTT / AOTT. Play with audio information along with the information.
[0076]
By the way, the navigation information for the audio player and the navigation information for the compatible player are separately recorded in the AMG. The navigation information for the audio player is navigation for reproducing only the audio information of the audio title (AOTT) composed of the audio information in the AOB of the audio zone and the dual-purpose title composed of the AV information in the VOB of the video zone. This is an audio title search pointer that describes information, and is recorded in the audio only title search pointer table (AOTT_SRPT). An audio title search pointer that is navigation information for a compatible player capable of reproducing all types of titles is recorded in the audio title search pointer table (ATT_SRPT). Such navigation information will be further described in detail with reference to FIG.
[0077]
When the audio / video DVD is played back by the video player, each of the video player navigation information recorded in the VMG in the video zone and the first playback control information PGCI recorded in the VTSI are used. Play back AV information in VTS. When the audio / video DVD is reproduced by an audio player, AOTT_SRPT in the AMG in the audio zone is referred to in accordance with APGCI which is the first reproduction control information for the audio player recorded in the ATSI. Play audio information. There are two cases in which audio information is reproduced by an audio player. One is a case where an audio title (AOTT) is reproduced, and audio information in the AOB is reproduced according to APGCI which is navigation information of the AMG in the audio zone and first reproduction control information recorded in the ATSI. Is the case. The other is a case where an audio / video title (AVTT / AOTT) is played back, as in the case of a video disc with audio navigation, the AMG navigation information in the audio zone and the first playback recorded in the ATSI. This is a case where audio information recorded in the VTS in the video zone is reproduced according to APGCI which is control information. In the latter case, for the same object, the video player reproduces AV information with an image, and the audio player reproduces only the audio information.
[0078]
Furthermore, when this audio / video DVD is played back by a compatible player, ATT_SRPT, which is navigation information for the compatible player in the AMG in the audio zone, is referred to according to the playback control information recorded in the ATSI and VTSI. The audio information in the audio zone and the AV information in the video zone are reproduced in an integrated manner. All titles in the audio / video DVD are managed by the AMG, and are classified into one of the above three types of titles in the DVD audio format.
[0079]
Consider a case where an audio / video DVD having the logical format example shown in FIG. 6 is played back using a compatible player having both DVD audio format and DVD video format playback capabilities. In this audio / video DVD, the volume is composed of seven title groups # 1 to # 7, and each title group is composed of one title. One title includes one or a plurality of tracks. In FIG. 6, the left column shows navigation information for compatible players (ATT_SRPT), the center column shows navigation information for video players (TT_SRPT), and the right column shows navigation information for audio players (AOTT_SRPT). Is.

[0082]
In order to eliminate the confusion at the time of title group reproduction, it is promised that AVTT cannot form a title group with other types of titles (AOTT, AVTT / AOTT).
[0083]
(4.2) Double management of VOB
Next, the concept of PGCI and APGCI defined for VOB in the video zone of the audio / video DVD will be described. In the VOB, video data and audio data are recorded in a multiplexed form. When VOB is reproduced as AV information, it is reproduced according to PGCI, which is the same concept as in the case of a video DVD. As described above, since the method of recording and reproducing AV information in the audio DVD is matched to the video format, compatibility with the video player is maintained. On the other hand, when only the audio information in the VOB is reproduced, the reproduction is performed according to APGCI. This APGCI is defined independently of PGCI. This will be described with reference to FIG.
[0084]
FIG. 7 shows the concept of a program when a certain VOB is played back as AV information in accordance with PGCI and when it is played back only as audio information in accordance with APGCI. In FIG. 7, VOB includes video data, sub-picture data, and audio data. When this VOB is reproduced as AV information, the reproduction control is performed based on PGCI. In PGCI, the VOB is divided into six
[0085]
On the other hand, when the audio player reproduces only the audio information from the same VOB, the reproduction is performed according to APGCI. Each audio program defined by APGCI is composed of one or more audio cells. Here, even for the same object (VOB), the audio cell can be defined (independently) different from the video cell (and of course, can be defined to match). That is, the start position and end position of each audio cell can be set independently of any video cell. Also, the playback order of audio cells defined by APGCI can be defined independently of the playback order of video cells defined by PGCI.
[0086]
In the example of FIG. 7, the
[0087]
As described above, the reason why the audio cell can be defined independently of the video cell is to manage the audio information independently of the AV information. In this way, when only the audio information in the VOB is reproduced, time management or the like can be performed independently of the AV information, and only the audio information among the audio information included in the AV information is reproduced. However, it is possible to reproduce only a meaningful part, and of course, it may be defined as the same cell.
[0088]
(4.3) First playback control information
Next, reproduction control using the first reproduction control information for each of the above-mentioned titles in an audio / video DVD will be described with reference to FIGS. Here, the first reproduction control information refers to ATT_SRPT and AOTT_SRPT in AMG, TT_SRPT in VMG, APGCI in ATS, and PGCI in VTS.
[0089]
FIG. 8 shows an example of navigation information for an audio / video DVD. As described above, an audio / video DVD has a video zone according to the DVD video format and an audio zone according to the DVD audio format. Information reproducible from an audio / video DVD is AV information (video information with sound) such as a movie and audio information. Then, navigation information for preventing confusion and contradiction when each information is reproduced by various players is recorded on the audio / video DVD separately for each player.
[0090]
(4.3.1) AMG, ATSI, title search pointer table
In FIG. 8, an audio / video DVD has an audio zone and a video zone. The audio zone is composed of SAPPT204, AMG202,
[0091]
The
[0092]
Here, the search pointer is a pointer indicating the recording position on the DVD of the reproduction control information (in this case, APGCI and PGCI) of each title. As described above, each title is composed of entity information such as audio information and AV information, and reproduction control information for reproducing the entity information in combination. This reproduction control information is recorded in ATSI in ATS or VTSI in VTS. The search pointer is a pointer indicating the recording position in the ATSI or VTSI of the reproduction control information for each title. The navigation information is information for managing the reproduction of each title, and is a concept including the search pointer in the present embodiment.
[0093]
The ATT search pointer table 242 is a table describing navigation information when each title of the audio / video DVD is reproduced by a compatible player. On the other hand, the AOTT search pointer table 243 is a table describing navigation information when each title of the audio / video DVD is reproduced by an audio player. Further, the ATT search pointer table 242 and the AOTT search pointer table 243 have a 1: 1 correspondence, and the number of search pointers described in the ATT search pointer table is the number of all titles included in the audio / video DVD. Matches the number. For example, as shown in FIG. 6, if a total of seven titles are included in the audio / video DVD, search pointers corresponding to the seven titles are described in the ATT search pointer table 242. Regardless of the type of title, the AOTT search pointer table 243 also has a frame for describing seven search pointers. The frame of each table corresponds to 1: 1.
[0094]
(4.3.1.1) ATT_SRP
The audio title search pointer (ATT_SRP) is navigation information used when an audio / video DVD is reproduced by a compatible player. Therefore, when an audio / video DVD is set, the compatible player refers to this ATT_SRP and plays back each title. The example of the navigation information shown in FIG. 8 corresponds to the example of the audio / video DVD shown in FIG. 6, where
As already described, three types of titles (AOTT, AVTT / AOTT, AVTT) can be recorded on an audio / video DVD. Therefore, in the audio / video DVD, search pointers for all three types of titles (AOTT, AVTT / AOTT, AVTT) are described in the AMG ATT search pointer table 242.
[0095]
However, the
[0096]
Therefore, as can be seen by comparing the left column of FIG. 6 with the audio title search pointer table 245 of FIG. 8, the ATT search pointer table 242 describing the navigation information for the compatible player has the image-specific title (
[0097]
(4.3.1.2) AOTT_SRP
The AOTT search pointer table 243 describes an audio title search pointer (AOTT_SRP) that is navigation information for an audio player. Therefore, when an audio / video DVD is set, the audio player performs reproduction with reference to the AOTT search pointer table 243.
[0098]
In this table, search pointers related to the audio title (AOTT) and the video / audio title (AVTT / AOTT) are described. Since the audio player does not have the ability to reproduce AV information, there is no need to describe a search pointer for an image-only title (AVTT). However, the only search pointer actually written in this table is the AOTT search pointer (AOTT_SRP). For the audio player, it is only necessary to have information about whether or not the title can reproduce only audio, and it is not necessary to distinguish between the audio title (AOTT) and the video / audio mixed title (AVTT / AOTT). Therefore, in the audio only title search pointer table (AOTT_SRPT) 243, the audio title (AOTT) and the audio / video title (AVTT / AOTT) are not distinguished, and all are described in a common format as the AOTT search pointer (AOTT_SRP). . Accordingly, for the audio / video title (AVTT / AOTT), the image dedicated title search pointer (AVTT_SRP) is described in the ATT search pointer table 242, but the audio title search pointer (AOTT_SRP) is described in the AOTT search pointer table 243. ) Will be described.
[0099]
For the image-only title (AVTT), only a frame for writing the title search pointer is prepared, but no substantial information is described, or this title does not have AOTT_SRP (reproduction only for audio) Not possible) is described. This is because the AOTT search pointer table 243 describes navigation information for the audio player, and the audio player cannot reproduce AV information. Therefore, the audio player determines that the title cannot be reproduced, and ignores this description.
[0100]
With reference to the AOTT title search pointer table 243 described as above, the audio player performs the reproduction shown in the right column of FIG. That is, the image

[0102]
As described above, in the audio / video DVD, optimum navigation information is prepared for each of the audio player, the video player, and the compatible player, and recorded as three separate title search pointer tables. Thereby, optimal reproduction can be performed according to the capability of each reproducing apparatus.
[0103]
(4.4) Search pointer table structure
Next, the structure of the search pointer table will be further described.
[0104]
(4.4.1) ATT_SRPT, AOTT_SRPT, TT_SRPT

(4.5) Reproduction method of each title using the first reproduction control information
Next, with reference to FIGS. 6 and 8, a description will be given of a method of reproducing each of the three types of titles that can be recorded on the audio / video DVD.
[0110]
(4.5.1) Audio title (AOTT) playback method
An AOTT can be reproduced by an audio player and a compatible player. AOTT is a title for reproducing audio information, and the second reproduction control information SAPPT is also intended for reproduction of AOTT. However, the second reproduction control information is composed only of information necessary for realizing only a part of the reproduction forms. On the other hand, the first reproduction control information has a structure in which all necessary information can be described so that all reproduction forms handled in the DVD audio format are possible. The main playback modes (functions) of audio titles that can be realized by the first playback control information are as follows. However, it also includes a playback mode that can be realized in playback of audio / video titles (AVTT / AOTT) on an audio player.
[0111]
・ Multi-channel playback
In the DVD audio format, LPCM audio information in the video zone can be up to 8ch. As a discrete multichannel, a maximum of 6 channels are possible. In this case, it is possible to set 11 patterns for each channel from the combination of the
[0112]
・ 2ch playback
LPCM audio information of 2ch or less is reproduced as it is. The multi-channel LPCM audio information in the video zone is reproduced only for 2 channels of CH0 and CH1, and the multi-channel LPCM audio information in the audio zone is downmixed to 2ch based on the downmix coefficient separately defined for each track as 2ch. Reproduce.
[0113]
・ Audio selection
In the DVD audio format, audio information of two different playback formats can be defined as one title and can be selected by the user. This function is called audio selection. Specifically, the user can select different playback modes of 2ch and multi-channel for the same music piece. Also, as a choice other than 2ch and multi-channel, it is also possible to select and listen to LPCM recording audio information and audio information recorded by other coding methods (compressed sound, 1-bit sound, etc.) for the same song. .
[0114]
・ Change of attributes for each song
In the DVD audio format, the sampling frequency fs, the quantization bit number Qb, or the channel number can be changed for each song. Songs with different attributes are played back continuously, but there may be silence between songs to accommodate changes in attributes.
[0115]
Audio coding mode
Indicates the type of encoding method used when recording audio information. LPCM, Dolby AC3, MPEG audio, DTS, SDDS, and LPCM used for CDs are well known. The other is one of the compression coding systems.
[0116]
・ Multi-channel type
The type of LPCM multi-channel recording in the DVD audio format is shown. In the case of
[0117]
・ Channel assignments
The number of channels, the relationship between each channel and the output speaker arrangement, and the relationship between each channel and a channel group in the multi-channel of the LPCM are shown. For example, when a 3ch signal is recorded, CH0 is included in
[0118]
・ Multi-stream playback
Audio entity information recorded in the audio zone in the DVD audio format is recorded as a single audio stream in the AOB, but audio entity information recorded in the video zone is recorded in the VOB. Along with the stream, it is multiplexed and recorded for each pack. A VOB can multiplex a plurality of audio streams within a limited transfer rate range. For example, a 2ch / LPCM audio stream and a multi-channel / LPCM audio stream can be multiplexed, and a 2ch / LPCM audio stream and an AC-3 compressed audio stream can be multiplexed. These two audio streams having different playback forms can be selected by the user by designating an audio selection value.
[0119]
・ Downmix playback
In the multi-channel LPCM information in the DVD audio format, only the discrete multi-channel part may be recorded. That is, in this case, a 2ch playback signal is not recorded. Therefore, when the player performs multi-channel playback, there is no problem, but if only the CH0 and CH1 are used for playback with 2ch, only a part of the sound is heard. To play all multi-channel recorded sounds on 2 channels, down-mix the signals of all recording channels to L-mix, R-mix according to the downmix coefficient, and use this L-mix, R-mix 2ch playback. This is called downmix playback.
[0120]
・ Playback of scalable recording
Multi-channel LPCM information in the DVD audio format is recorded in two groups. These groups are called

・ Title group selection
This is the maximum unit in the DVD audio format that the user can select and instruct the player. It is recognized by the user as a set of a plurality of songs (tracks). A title group is a set of a plurality of titles, but the user does not recognize the titles themselves. For example, in the case where 10 pieces of music information alone is the first, and 2 pieces of music are accompanied by video information, the title is 1 for the first 10 pieces and the title is 2 for the latter 2 pieces. However, the numbers for the songs are serial numbers in the title group, and when the user wants to reproduce the first song with video information, the
[0123]
・ Track selection
A unit in the DVD audio format that can be selected and instructed to the player by the user. Corresponds to one song or chapter.
[0124]
・ Index selection
In the DVD audio format, it is the smallest unit that the user can select and instruct the player. A unit in which a song (track) is further subdivided. Therefore, its usage is relatively free, and one index may be associated with a song number (No. 1, No. 2) in the same song. A plurality of indexes may correspond to the same music number in the same music. Therefore, since one index can be associated with the prelude, interlude, ending, rust (climax), etc. in the song (song number), various playback modes can be designated.
[0125]
・ Title group time display
Management and display of total time of title group, elapsed time (current time) and remaining time in title group. The time for each unit is described in the first reproduction control information so that these times can be managed.
[0126]
-Track time display
Management and display of total time of track, elapsed time in track (current time), remaining time, etc. The time for each unit is described in the first reproduction control information so that these times can be managed.
[0127]
-Index time display
Management and display of total index time, elapsed time (current time) and remaining time in the index. The time for each unit is described in the first reproduction control information so that these times can be managed.
[0128]
・ Spotlight playback
A playback format that selectively plays only the story in a song (track). Only a specific index can be reproduced by setting a plurality of indexes in a track and setting an index corresponding to a story-telling section as a spotlight section.
[0129]
・ Play using playback control commands
This is to realize an interactive playback mode.
[0130]
・ Playback using text information
In the case of the DVD audio format, two types of text information can be recorded. One is centralized text information for centrally managing the text related to the entire disk and using it for displaying and searching for songs. The other is real-time text information multiplexed in audio data. This is used to display the lyrics and the title of the song during playback.

Next, the reproduction path of the image-only title will be described. The video-only title can be played back by the video player and the compatible player.
[0134]
(4.5.2.1) Video player
The video player refers to TT_SRPT (title search pointer table) 251 as navigation information, and performs processing according to the playback procedure of the DVD video format. Therefore, the title search pointer table 251 of VMG3 is first referred to. Here, the description position of the search pointer on the title search pointer tables 242 and 243 of the corresponding title on the audio navigation and the description position of the title search pointer on the title search pointer table 251 of VMG3 correspond to 1: 1. It does not have to be. In other words, the contents and order of the AMGI ATT search pointer table 242 and the VMGI TT search pointer table 251 can be defined independently.

The video / audio mixed title is played back by all the audio players, video players, and compatible players. Therefore, it demonstrates in this order.
[0140]
(4.5.3.1) Audio player
First, a method for reproducing an audio / video title by an audio player will be described. The audio player refers only to AOTT_SRPT243 as navigation information. In FIG. 6, since the audio / video titles (AVTT / AOTT) are # 1 and # 3, when # 1 is reproduced,

(4.5.3.2) Video player
Next, a method for reproducing a video / audio title by the video player will be described. As described above, the video player performs processing according to the playback procedure of the video format regardless of the type of the disc. Therefore, the title search pointer table 251 of VMG3 is first referred to. The title number here is # 1, which matches the title number on the audio navigation. Subsequent paths are the same as in the case of (5.2.1), and thus description thereof is omitted. (See the path shown in Figure 8, “P1V (1), (2), (3)”)
[0142]
(4.5.3.3) For compatible players
Next, a method for playing back a video / audio title by a compatible player will be described. The compatible player refers only to
[0143]
As described above, the first playback control information includes not only video navigation information and audio navigation information, but also information that integrates them or information that associates them. It is possible to eliminate inconsistencies and confusion when playing titles with different playback formats on various players with different playback capabilities.
[0144]
(5) Second reproduction control information
Next, the second reproduction control information among the recording information on the audio DVD will be described. Here, the second reproduction control information refers to the

Therefore, in the present invention, limited playback of all tracks (songs) that can be played back by 2ch included in an audio title (AOTT) recorded on a DVD disc, that is, one of all playback modes prepared in advance. The playback control information for playback in the playback mode is recorded as second playback control information (SAPPT) in the lead-in area LI or at the head of the audio zone. By doing so, it is possible to easily and quickly acquire the playback control information by referring to the SAPPT without being aware of the title and the ATS and VTS to which the title belongs, even when playing any song belonging to any title group, Smooth playback is possible. That is, by recording the playback control information at the lead-in area LI or the head of the audio zone, it is possible to obtain the playback control information necessary for playback of the music immediately after the audio DVD disc is inserted.
[0149]
As described above, an audio / video DVD has a video zone according to the DVD video format and an audio zone according to the DVD audio format. Information reproducible from an audio / video DVD is AV information (video information with sound) such as a movie and audio information. Then, when each piece of information is played back by various players, the first playback control information for preventing confusion or contradiction is separately recorded on the audio / video DVD for each player. Yes. On the other hand, the second reproduction control information is only information related to a track that can be reproduced by 2ch, and information for realizing only a part of the reproduction format. In (4), the case where the title is played back using the first playback control information has been described, but the playback control using the second playback control information is the same as the audio title shown in (4.5.1). This corresponds to a case where an audio / video title is played back by an audio player.
[0150]
In the case of FIG. 6, there are seven title groups in this audio / video DVD. Each title group corresponds to one title (
[0151]
For an audio player that only reproduces audio information, the title group can be regarded as a concept equivalent to one conventional CD album. In the case of FIG. 6, the user adds four different CD albums to one audio DVD. Recognized as recorded. The user selects a desired title group as if he / she wants to select a CD album he / she wants to listen to from among four different CD albums. However, seven title groups are recognized by users of compatible players. If there is an image-dedicated title as shown in this figure, it is necessary to instruct “
[0152]
The information recorded in the SAPPT includes each track (song) number for each title group and its start address and end address. These may be absolute addresses on the audio DVD or may be relative addresses from the position where the SAPPT is recorded. Further, channel assignment, sampling frequency fs, and quantization bit number Qb, which are attribute information of each track, are also described. Also, the track start time and playback time are described as track time information. FIG. 9 shows an example of a part of information described in the SAPPT having the logical structure in FIG. FIG. 10 is a diagram showing the relationship between the logical structure in FIG. 6 and the physical arrangement on the disk.
[0153]
When the user designates a title group to be reproduced, the reproducing apparatus can obtain information on all tracks of the corresponding title group only by reading the SAPPT. The information obtained here corresponds to a part of APGCI which is the first reproduction control information described above. By referring to the address information of each track written here, the audio information in the ATS or the audio information in the VTS from the start address to the end address is reproduced. In reproduction using SAPPT which is the second reproduction control information, it is not necessary to refer to APGCI which is the first reproduction control information. However, in reproduction based on SAPPT, for example, linear PCM audio information can be performed only in a 2ch stereo reproduction form, and a variety of reproduction forms rich in interactivity based on APGCI cannot be performed.
[0154]
Also, SAPPT includes audio attribute information. The audio attribute information is information relating to the attribute of the audio information of all tracks recorded on the audio DVD and capable of 2ch playback. The attribute information is composed only of information necessary for 2ch playback. Specifically, the audio attribute information includes audio information encoding method, sampling frequency, number of quantization bits, channel assignment information indicating the number of channels included as audio information and the relationship between each channel and channel group, Etc. Therefore, it is not necessary to refer to the AMG and ATSI that are the first reproduction control information in the reproduction using the SAPPT that is the second reproduction control information. The audio DVD playback apparatus automatically performs playback in accordance with the audio attribute information.
[0155]
Further, the reproduction using SAPPT which is the second reproduction control information has the following characteristics. In the DVD audio format, the same track (song) can be used repeatedly with different titles. For example,
[0156]
The playback apparatus can determine whether or not the track is a duplicate track by comparing the address information in the SAPPT. That is, the track address information reproduced so far is stored in the memory, and it is determined whether or not the same address information as the track reproduced this time exists in the memory. If the same address information does not exist in the memory, the current track is reproduced, and if it exists in the memory, it is determined that it is a duplicate track and is not reproduced.
[0157]
In this way, by duplicating tracks, the same music is reproduced in duplicate when dubbing audio information recorded on an audio-only DVD disc to another information recording medium such as an MD (mini disc). And copying to the MD can be prevented.
[0158]
As described above, one title group is recognized by the user as corresponding to one CD album. Therefore, in the above-described example, if the user inputs an instruction to sequentially reproduce from
[0159]
In SAPPT, a playback time is further recorded. Specifically, the playback time for each track, the total playback time for each title group, the total playback time of the disc, and the total recording time of the disc. Here, the total disc playback time is the playback time when the tracks of each group are played in order (normal playback), and the overlapping track is the playback time when the same track as another group is played back again. . On the other hand, the total disc recording time is the total reproduction time in the non-overlapping reproduction, that is, the mode in which the same music piece is not repeatedly reproduced. The total recording time is useful information when dubbing an audio DVD song onto a tape or the like as described above. Alternatively, only the playback time of each track may be stored during SAPPT, and various total playback times may be obtained by adding the playback time of each track. For example, the total disc playback time can be obtained by adding the playback times of tracks included in all title groups. The total disc recording time can be obtained by referring to the duplication flag or comparing the address information to determine the duplication track, and totaling the reproduction times of the tracks included in all title groups excluding the duplication track.

This audio-only DVD has title groups # 1 to # 3 in the volume.
[0176]
The operation of the playback apparatus when the first playback control information is used is shown in FIGS. When the audio-only DVD is inserted into the playback device, the UDF is read after the lead-in area LI to confirm the file structure, and then the AMG is read (step S1). Next, the title group to be reproduced is recognized based on the user's instruction (step S2). If there is no instruction from the user, a preset title group, for example,
[0177]
Then, a title search pointer which is navigation information of titles included in the selected title group is stored in the memory (step S3). Here, since
[0178]
From the information in the read APGCI, it can be recognized that the tracks included in the title #j are
[0179]
When the start address of this track is acquired, it is determined whether or not the next address information is the end address of the track (step S12). If it is an end address (step S12: YES), the process proceeds to step S14, and the end address of this track is stored in the memory. If it is not the end address of the track (step S12: NO), the process proceeds to step S13, the next address information is referenced, and the process returns to step S12. If both the start address and end address of the track have been acquired, the process proceeds to step S15 to determine whether the start address and end address of all tracks included in the title to be reproduced have been acquired. If there is a track for which address information has not been acquired (step S15: NO), the process returns to step S9, and the address information acquisition step is repeated. If the start address and end address of all tracks included in the title to be reproduced have been acquired (step S15: YES), the creation of the address table is completed and the track is reproduced.
[0180]
In reproducing the track, first, i = 0 is set in step S16. In step S17, i = i + 1 is set and the track number is incremented. Then, the playback device is set so as to conform to the attribute information of track number i (step S18), and the start address and end address of track number i are loaded from the created address table (step S19). Next, the pickup is moved based on the start address loaded at the position on the disc where the entity information of track number i is recorded (step S20), and AOB is reproduced (step S21). If the currently reproduced address is the end address of track number i in step S22 (step S22: YES), the process proceeds to step S23. If the currently reproduced address does not reach the end address of the track number i (step S22: NO), the process returns to step S21 and the AOB is continuously reproduced.
[0181]
In step S23, it is determined whether or not the track number i has reached the number of tracks included in the title (i = m if title # 2). If the track number i is the number of tracks included in the title (step S23: YES), it is determined that all tracks in the title #j have been reproduced, and the process proceeds to step S24, where the reproduction of the title #j is terminated. If the track number i is not the number of tracks included in the title (step S22: NO), there is a track that has not been reproduced yet, so the process returns to step s17 to reproduce the next track. After the reproduction of title #j is completed, it is determined in step S25 whether there is a next title to be further reproduced. Further, when there is a title to be played back (step S25: YES), the title search pointer of title # j + 1 stored in step S3 is referred to and step S4 and subsequent steps are repeated in the same manner as the playback of title #j. Further, when there is no title to be reproduced (step S25: NO), the reproduction is terminated.
[0182]
(7.2) Playback using second playback control information
FIG. 17 and FIG. 18 show the operation of the playback apparatus when the SAPPT that is the second playback control information is used. It is assumed here that an audio-only DVD having a logical structure as shown in FIG. 19 is reproduced.
[0183]
When the audio-only DVD is inserted into the playback device, the SAPPT at the head of the audio zone is stored in the memory (step S100). Next, the title group to be reproduced is recognized based on the user's instruction (step S101). If there is no instruction from the user, a preset title group, for example,
[0184]
Next, when reproducing a track, first, i = 0 is set in step S103. In step S104, i = i + 1 is set and the track number is incremented. Then, the playback device is set to the audio information attribute of track number i (step S105), and the pickup is moved to a position on the disc where the actual information of track i is recorded based on the start address of track number i (step S106). ), AOB reproduction is performed (step S107). If the currently reproduced address is the end address based on the SAPPT of the track number i in step S109 (step S108: YES), the process proceeds to step S109. If the currently reproduced address does not reach the end address of the track number i (step S108: NO), the process returns to step S107 and the AOB is continuously reproduced.
[0185]
In step S109, it is determined whether or not the track number i has reached the number of tracks included in the title group (i = n if title group # 2). If the track number i is equal to the number of tracks included in the title group (step S190: YES), the reproduction of the
[0186]
As described above, even when any music piece belonging to any title group is reproduced, the reproduction control information can be acquired easily and quickly by referring to the SAPPT, and smooth reproduction is possible. That is, by recording the second playback control information at the head of the lead-in area LI, AMG, or audio zone, it is possible to obtain playback control information necessary for playback of a song immediately after insertion of the audio DVD disc. Therefore, according to the present invention, a wide variety of complex functions and interactive playback can be realized using the first playback control information, and the second playback control information can be used when a limited partial function is realized. By using, playback can be performed with simple processing.
[0187]
【The invention's effect】
According to the first aspect of the invention, by recording the optimum navigation information for a plurality of players, the player can select the optimum navigation information and the reproduction process is simplified.
