飲料水としての水道水は、その水質基準により一応の安全性を有しているものの、より安全で美味しい水を得るため、水道水をさらに浄化するための浄水器の使用が増えている。通常、浄水器においては、活性炭等吸着剤によりカルキ臭、かび臭、トリハロメタン等の除去が、併用の多孔質中空糸膜により細菌、汚濁成分等の除去が行われている。そして、浄水器には、その浄化能力が低下した際の濾材の交換の容易さから、濾材を収納したカートリッジが用いられている。

このカートリッジとして、円筒状のハウジング内部に、濾材を収納した円筒状のケースを配置した二重管構造のカートリッジが知られ、また、ケース内に2〜3種の濾材がメッシュを張った仕切板で区分されて収納されることも知られている。しかしながら、従来のカートリッジにおいては、図3に示すように、濾材仕切板は、円筒状ケース内壁の円周方向に設けた段部の段差に架け渡してセットするのみで、反対方向への確実な固定がなされていなかった。

このため、仕切板上の濾材が密に充填されていない場合は、カートリッジの輸送、運搬等の取扱い時、初期通水時等に仕切板がずれてしまい、濾材が漏れて他の濾材に混入し、満足な濾過性能が発揮されない状況が生じていた。カートリッジの製造上、濾材を密に充填するのは難しく、また、濾材を密に充填することは、濾材充填部の通水抵抗が増え、浄水流量が低下することから好ましいものではない。

図1に、本発明の浄水用カートリッジの例の縦断面図、図2に、図1のA−A線断面図を示す。図中、1は円筒状ケース、2aは吸着剤、2bは中空糸膜、3は円筒状ハウジング、4はOリング、5は原水流入口、6は浄水吐出口、7は濾材仕切板、8は段部、9は突起部を表す。

本発明を実施例で具体的に説明すると、図1において、カートリッジのABS樹脂製ハウジング3は、直径55mm、高さ105mmの円筒形で、最下部から30mm上方に原水流入口5が設けられ、底部に浄水吐出口6が設けられている。ハウジング3の内部には、濾材2a、2bを有する円筒状のABS樹脂製ケース1がOリング4にてシール固定され、二重管構造のカートリッジが形成されている。

本発明の浄水用カートリッジは、取扱い時、初期通水時等に仕切板がずれることがなく、濾材の漏れによる他の濾材との混入がないので各濾材の濾過性能を十分に良好に発揮させ、本発明のカートリッジを取り付けた浄水器によれば水道水から安全で美味しい水を長期間にわたり得ることができる。
