【0008】
for(k=0,Q−1)
D(n,k)=0.25D(n−1、k)+0.5D(n,k)+0.25D(n+1,k)
【0009】
【0029】
for(k=0,Q−1)
D(n,k)=(D(n−1,k)+D(n+1,k))/2
【0030】
【0049】
for(k=0,Q−1)
Dr(n,k)=(Dr-1(n,k)+Dr+1(n,k))/2
【0050】
yesのときはステップS22(図6を参照)に進む。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an X-ray CT (Computerized Tomography) system for reconstructing an X-ray tomographic image of a subject by X-ray irradiation, and a control method thereof. This invention relates to the restoration and restoration technology of the projection data.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the X-ray CT system, generally, X-rays from an X-ray tube that is an X-ray generation source are collimated at a predetermined irradiation angle (for example, 60 degrees) and then irradiated on a subject, and the transmitted X-rays are Projection data obtained by detection with an X-ray detector having a plurality of (for example, 1000) detector channels over a length depending on the X-ray irradiation angle is collected in the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector. Performing (scanning) in a plurality of (for example, 1000) view directions while rotating around the specimen, an X-ray tomographic image is reconstructed based on the projection data of each view.
[0003]
By the way, since an X-ray tube applies a high voltage between a cathode and an anode in order to generate X-rays, it is known that a minute discharge sometimes occurs. Since the X-ray dose irradiated when a micro discharge is generated is on the order of several milliseconds or 1 millisecond, it rapidly decreases, so that the projection data in the view at that time is useless. If image reconstruction processing is performed with this as it is, specific artifacts such as shower artifacts are generated in the reconstructed X-ray tomogram. Therefore, a better image can be obtained when the projection data of the view affected by the minute discharge is interpolated using other projection data.
[0004]
Conventionally, interpolation of projection data of a view that could not be normally collected due to a minute discharge has been performed as follows, for example.
[0005]
FIG. 14 is a flowchart showing a conventional projection data interpolation process.
[0006]
First, projection data is collected (scanned) (step S1), and predetermined preprocessing such as logarithmic transformation of the received projection data of each view is performed (step S2). Next, a detector in a predetermined reference channel ref (generally used for detection of an X-ray detection amount for calibration, detection of an X-ray beam position, etc.) provided in the X-ray detection unit for each view The channel output (hereinafter referred to as “count value”) is measured, and the count value D (n, ref) in the reference channel ref of the nth view and the reference channel of the n−1th view (the previous view) The ratio D (n, ref) / D (n-1, ref) with the count value D (n-1, ref) at ref is calculated, and the calculated D (n, ref) / D (n-1, ref) If ref) falls below a predetermined threshold value T (for example, 0.95), it is determined that a minute discharge has occurred, and the view number n is stored (step S3). Subsequently, predetermined correction processing such as X-ray dose correction and sensitivity correction between detector channels is performed (step S4).
[0007]
Thereafter, the count value of each detector channel in the n-th view in which it is determined that a minute discharge has occurred is 50% of the original count value and 25 of the count value of the same detector channel in the n-1 view. The linear interpolation is performed with the addition value of the value of% and the value of 25% of the count value of the same detector channel in the (n + 1) th view (step S5). In this specification, the interpolation of the count value of each detector channel is expressed by the following equation. In the present specification, unless otherwise specified, the symbol “=” means that the value on the right side is assigned to the left side.
[0008]
for (k = 0, Q-1)
D (n, k) = 0.25D (n-1, k) + 0.5D (n, k) + 0.25D (n + 1, k)
[0009]
Here, n is a view number, k is a detector channel number of the X-ray detector, D (n, k) is a count value in the kth detector channel of the nth view, and for (k = 0, Q-1) substitutes each value in increments of 1 from 0 to Q-1 (Q is the number of detector channels of the X-ray detector), and executes subsequent substitution formulas in each case Indicates to do.
[0010]
After the count value interpolation as described above, an X-ray tomographic image is reconstructed (step S6) and displayed on a monitor screen such as a CRT (step S7).
[0011]
As described above, the conventional interpolation processing weights and adds the count values of one view before and after the view.
[0012]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the duration of the minute discharge and the amount of discharge are not always constant, and in particular with the recent increase in scanning speed, the influence of the minute discharge is not limited to one view and often extends to a plurality of views. In the above-described conventional interpolation processing, regardless of the fluctuation factors of the influence of the minute discharge such as the duration of the minute discharge and the scanning speed, the view and the ± 1 view count values are uniformly used. Since the interpolation is performed, the effect is often insufficient.
[0013]
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and in consideration of the fluctuation factors of the influence of the microdischarge such as the duration of the microdischarge, the projection data of the view that could not be normally collected by the microdischarge is preferably used. It is an object of the present invention to provide an X-ray CT system and a control method thereof that can reduce the artifacts appearing in the X-ray tomographic image.
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, for example, an X-ray CT system of the present invention comprises the following arrangement. That is,
A scan that collects projection data obtained by irradiating X-rays generated from an X-ray tube toward the subject and detecting the transmitted X-rays with an X-ray detector having a plurality of detector channels from a plurality of views. An X-ray CT system for reconstructing an X-ray tomographic image of a subject based on projection data of each view,
A means of identifying a view that could not successfully collect projection data;
Means for interpolating the projection data of the identified view using projection data of the preceding and following views adjacent to the identified view;
It is characterized by providing.

[0023]
The configuration of the X-ray CT system in the present embodiment is generally as described above. In the X-ray CT system having such a configuration, the projection data is collected as follows. First, the position in the Z-axis direction is fixed, the subject is irradiated with the X-ray beam from the X-ray tube 4 (projection of X-rays), and the transmitted X-ray is detected by the X-ray detection unit 8. The transmission X-ray is detected in a plurality of (for example, 1000) view directions while rotating the

Note that, when the collected projection data for one scan is schematically displayed, it is as shown in FIG. In the figure, the horizontal direction indicates Q detector channels from the 0th channel to the Q-1th channel, and each detector channel has a count value obtained by scanning. The vertical direction indicates N views from the 0th view to the (N−1) th view corresponding to 0 to 360 degrees.
[0025]
In the present invention, prior to reconstruction of an X-ray tomographic image, a view in which projection data cannot be normally collected due to a micro discharge generated in the
[0026]
FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing projection data interpolation processing according to this embodiment. The same reference numerals are assigned to the same processing blocks as those in the flowchart of FIG. 14 showing the conventional interpolation processing described above.
[0027]
First, projection data is collected (scanned) (step S1), and the collected projection data is transferred to the
[0028]
Thereafter, the count value of each detector channel of the nth view in which it is determined that a micro discharge has occurred is interpolated with the average value of the count values of the detector channels of the preceding and following views as shown in the following equation (step). S11).
[0029]
for (k = 0, Q-1)
D (n, k) = (D (n-1, k) + D (n + 1, k)) / 2
[0030]
FIG. 5 shows an interpolation operation according to this embodiment. This interpolation operation can be said to be an operation of linearly interpolating the projection data of the nth view using the projection data of the previous and subsequent views regardless of the projection data of the nth view.
[0031]
After the count value interpolation as described above, an X-ray tomographic image is reconstructed (step S6) and displayed on the CRT 56 (step S7).
[0032]
In this way, data having the average value of the count values of each detector channel in the preceding and succeeding views is interpolated in the view in which the projection data could not be normally collected due to the minute discharge, so that the continuity is excellent. And shower artifacts appearing in the X-ray tomogram can be reduced.
[0033]
(Embodiment 2)
As described above, when the scanning speed is increased, the influence of the micro discharge is not limited to one view but often covers a plurality of views. Therefore, in the present embodiment, the projection data is interpolated in consideration of the number of consecutive views affected by the minute discharge.
[0034]
FIG. 6 is a flowchart showing the projection data interpolation processing according to this embodiment.
[0035]
First, projection data is collected (scanned) (step S1), and the collected projection data is transferred to the
[0036]
Thereafter, the count value of each detector channel in the nth view in which it is determined that a micro discharge has occurred is as shown in FIG. 7 before and after the nth view M (M = 2 in the example of FIG. 7). Interpolation is performed with a value obtained by weighting and adding the count values of the same detector channel (step S22). This interpolation operation is expressed by the following equation.
[0037]
[Expression 1]
[0038]
Then, after the interpolation processing of the projection data in step S22, an X-ray tomographic image is reconstructed (step S6) and displayed on the CRT 56 (step S7).
[0039]
Note that counting the number of subsequent microdischarge occurrence views in step S21 is equivalent to measuring the duration of the microdischarge. That is, in the subsequent step S22, the projection data is interpolated using the number of surrounding views corresponding to the duration of the minute discharge. This interpolation operation can be said to be an operation for linearly interpolating the projection data of the microdischarge occurrence view using the projection data of the peripheral views corresponding to the number of subsequent microdischarge occurrence views. Thereby, shower artifacts appearing in the X-ray tomogram can be reduced more effectively.
[0040]
In step S22, the count values of the same detector channels in the M views before and after the nth view are weighted and added. However, as shown in the following equation, the same detection in only the previous M view of the nth view is performed. It is also possible to perform weighted addition of the count values of the counter channels. This method is also advantageous from the viewpoint of software processing and from the viewpoint of removing instability after discharge.
[0041]
[Expression 2]
[0042]
In both of the above equations, the inverse ratio of the distance m of the view from the nth view is used as the weighting coefficient. However, other weighting coefficients may be used as long as they are normalized by the sum of the weighting coefficients. .
[0043]
(Embodiment 3)
In the first and second embodiments described above, the front and back views are used for the interpolation of projection data. However, in this embodiment, each count value of the microdischarge occurrence view is set to the opposite view (for each detector channel). It replaces with each count value of a view (projection angle is 180 degrees different).
[0044]
FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing the projection data interpolation processing according to this embodiment. This processing step is substantially the same as the flowchart of FIG. 3 showing the processing of the first embodiment, but step S11 is replaced by step S31. In this step S31, as shown in FIG. 9, interpolation is performed by copying the data of the n ′ view different by 180 degrees, for example, to the nth view in which the minute discharge has occurred. This interpolation operation is expressed by the following equation. However, this is performed for each opposing view for each corresponding detector channel.
[0045]
[0046]
In the opposite view, since X-rays passing through the same X-ray path are detected, the fact that almost the same count value is obtained is utilized, thereby avoiding the influence of minute discharge and more suitable data. Can be interpolated. Note that instead of using only the 180-degree opposed view data for interpolation as described above, an average value of data near the 180-degree opposed view may be used for interpolation.
[0047]
(Embodiment 4)
The count value of each detector channel in the microdischarge generation view may be interpolated by the average value of the count values of the same detector channel in the same view in the preceding and following scans, that is, the preceding and following slice positions.
[0048]
FIG. 10 is a flowchart showing the projection data interpolation processing according to this embodiment. This processing step is substantially the same as the flowchart of FIG. 3 showing the processing of the first embodiment, but step S11 is replaced by step S41. In this step S41, as shown in FIG. 11, the same detection in the (n-1) th view in the (r-1) th scan and the nth view in the (r + 1) th scan is performed on each detector channel in the nth view of the rth scan in which the minute discharge has occurred. Interpolate by copying the average of the count values of the counter channels. The count value of the rth scan nth view kth channel is D r When this interpolation operation is expressed by an equation as (n, k), the following equation is obtained.
[0049]
for (k = 0, Q-1)
D r (N, k) = (D r-1 (N, k) + D r + 1 (N, k)) / 2
[0050]
Interpolation is performed with the average value of each count value of the same view (view having the same projection angle as the projection angle of the microdischarge generation view) at the adjacent slice positions, so that continuity is maintained well. The influence of minute discharge can be avoided and suitable data can be interpolated. Instead of using the same view data at adjacent slice positions before and after the adjacent interpolation as described above, an average value of data near the same view at adjacent slice positions may be used for the interpolation.
[0051]
(Embodiment 5)
Here, it is as follows when the data interpolation in each embodiment mentioned above is put together.
Embodiment 1: Interpolation of micro discharge occurrence view using projection data of previous and subsequent views
Embodiment 2: Interpolating micro discharge occurrence views using projection data of a number of peripheral views corresponding to the micro discharge duration time length
Embodiment 3: A microdischarge generation view is interpolated using projection data of the opposite view for each detector channel.
Embodiment 4: Interpolation of micro discharge occurrence view using projection data of same view in previous and subsequent scans
[0052]
The data interpolation of each of these embodiments has different effects depending on the duration of the minute discharge. When the duration of the micro discharge lasts relatively long and the influence of the micro discharge has spread over a plurality of views, the data interpolation of the second embodiment considers the duration of the micro discharge, so the data interpolation of the first embodiment Better results would be expected. In the third and fourth embodiments, interpolation is performed with data that is a view far away from the microdischarge occurrence view and has high relevance to the microdischarge occurrence view, so that even better results can be expected. Therefore, in the present embodiment, the interpolation processing in each of the above embodiments is combined, and the type of interpolation processing is selected according to the duration of minute discharge (that is, the number of consecutive small discharge occurrence views).
[0053]
FIG. 12 is a flowchart showing the projection data interpolation processing according to this embodiment.
[0054]
First, projection data is collected (scanned) (step S1), and the collected projection data is transferred to the
[0055]
Thereafter, the interpolation process of the micro discharge occurrence view is selected according to the value of M. That is, in step S51, it is determined whether the microdischarge occurrence view is not continuous and M is less than 1. If yes, the process proceeds to step S11 (see FIG. 3). If the determination in step S51 is no, the process proceeds to step S52 to determine whether M is less than 2. If yes, go to step S22 (see FIG. 6). If the determination in step S52 is no, the process proceeds to step S53, where it is determined whether M is less than 3. If yes, the process proceeds to step S31 (see FIG. 8). If the determination in step S53 is no, the process proceeds to step S41 (FIG. 10).
[0056]
(Embodiment 6)
In the case of the helical scan, since projection data is collected in a spiral shape, only one view of the projection data at the target slice position is collected. Therefore, prior to image reconstruction, Z of the projection data by a predetermined helical weighting function is collected. It is known that interpolation in the axial direction is performed.
[0057]
FIG. 13A shows projection data collected by a helical scan. For example, the helical weighting interpolation in the N / 2th view is performed by calculating the count value of the same detector channel of each view and the helical weighting function as shown in the figure (each weighting coefficient is normalized by the sum of the coefficients). It is performed with a value obtained by weighting and adding.
[0058]
Here, it is assumed that a minute discharge has occurred in the nth view as shown in FIG. In this case, according to the weighting of (a), the weighting coefficient in the nth view is a relatively large value, and if incorporated in the weighting addition as it is, the data accuracy after the helical weighting is adversely affected. Therefore, when a small discharge occurs, this weighting function is shifted by α degrees (α is a value depending on the scan pitch), and the weighting function is adjusted so that a small weighting coefficient is applied to the small discharge occurrence view. If the micro discharge occurrence view exists in the second half view after the N / 2 view, as shown in FIG. 5C, the weighting function of (a) is shifted by -α degrees, and a new weighting function is changed. create. However, α is a constant value (for example, 90 degrees or less) or a value that decreases in inverse proportion to the size of the scan pitch.
[0059]
(Other embodiments)
An example of the case of the helical scan has been described in the sixth embodiment. In addition, after normalizing each weighting coefficient with the sum of the weighting coefficients excluding the minute discharge occurrence view, the projection data of the minute discharge occurrence view is displayed. May not be incorporated into the weighted addition.
[0060]
Further, in each of the above-described embodiments, whether or not a minute discharge has occurred is determined by threshold determination of the value of D (n, ref) / D (n−1, ref) in step S103. However, when the count value of the main detector channel at a predetermined position instead of the reference channel is below a predetermined threshold value, it may be determined that a minute discharge has occurred in the view. Alternatively, when the count value of any one of the plurality of main detector channels at a predetermined position is below a predetermined threshold value, it may be determined that a minute discharge has occurred in the view. .
[0061]
In addition, linear interpolation is used for the interpolation used in each of the above-described embodiments, but the same effect can be obtained by high-order / multi-point interpolation such as quadratic interpolation using three points and three-point Hanning interpolation. .
[0062]
In each of the above-described embodiments, it is desirable to determine whether or not a micro discharge has occurred in step S3 prior to the correction of the X-ray dose in step S4. It may be performed anywhere after the X-ray dose correction in step S4 and before the image reconstruction process.
[0063]
Further, most of the control of the X-ray CT system in the embodiment is performed on the
[0064]
That is, an object of the present invention is to supply a storage medium (or recording medium) in which a program code of software that realizes the functions of the above-described embodiments is recorded to a system or apparatus, and the computer (or CPU or CPU) of the system or apparatus. (MPU) can also be realized by reading and executing the program code stored in the storage medium. In this case, the program code itself read from the storage medium realizes the functions of the above-described embodiment, and the storage medium storing the program code constitutes the present invention. Further, by executing the program code read by the computer, not only the functions of the above-described embodiments are realized, but also an operating system (OS) running on the computer based on the instruction of the program code. A case where part or all of the actual processing is performed and the functions of the above-described embodiments are realized by the processing is also included.
[0065]
When the present invention is applied to the above storage medium, the storage medium includes a program corresponding to the flowchart described above (shown in any one or more of FIGS. 3, 6, 8, 10, and 12). The code will be stored.
