【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、微生物等の力を利用して廃棄物(例えば、残飯などの生ごみ)の分解処理を効率良く集中的に行う廃棄物処理装置に関し、特に廃棄物処理装置における投入蓋或いは掻き出し蓋に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
近年、微生物等の力を利用した廃棄物処理装置が知られている。この廃棄物処理装置は、処理槽内に廃棄物を分解処理するための基材が充填してあり、投入蓋を開いて処理槽に設けた投入口から廃棄物を処理槽内に投入し、基材中に生息する微生物等の働きで廃棄物を分解処理するようになっている。

そして、上記廃棄物処理装置では、投入蓋の閉時に、投入口を持つ処理槽に気密性を持たせるために、投入蓋と投入口の周縁部の間にパッキン材を設けるようにしている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、投入口の周縁部のパッキン材当接面には、処理槽に生ごみ等の廃棄物を投入する際にこぼれる廃棄物の汁が付着しやすい。この汁は、投入蓋を閉じてしばらく置くと、あたかも接着剤の如き作用を起こし、投入口の周縁部とパッキン材を粘着させる。その為、投入蓋にパッキン材を一体に設けた場合には、投入蓋を開けるのに大きな労力を必要とし、最悪の場合には投入蓋が開かないなどという問題があった。

また、パッキン材は、一般に、柔軟性のあるゴム材等で作られているが、長期間の使用により投入蓋の重量を受けて圧縮されたり潰されたりする。したがって、弾性を失い塑性変形する場合があり、こうしてパッキン本来の柔軟性がなくなり処理槽の気密性を失うという問題もあった。

また、投入蓋は処理装置本体の外装部材も兼ねており、パッキン材の上記変形は投入蓋の閉時の位置ズレを起こし、他の外装部材との予定外の隙間や段差が発生し、処理装置本体の外観に見苦しさが出るという問題もあった。

同様に、上記廃棄物処理装置の掻き出し口においても、処理槽内の処理物が漏れ出すことが無いように、掻き出し口の周縁部と掻き出し蓋の間にパッキン材を介在させて処理槽の気密性を確保しなければならない。しかし、このパッキン材も、一般に、柔軟性のあるゴム材等で作られており、長期間の使用により掻き出し蓋の締め付け力を受けて圧縮されたり潰されたりする。こうして、弾性を失い塑性変形する場合があり、ここでもパッキン本来の柔軟性がなくなり処理槽の気密性を失うという問題があった。

本発明は、上記従来例の問題点に鑑みて成されたものであって、本発明の目的とするところは、廃棄物処理装置において、廃棄物の汁等によるパッキン材の固着現象を改善すること、パッキン材の変形を防止して処理槽の気密性を保つこと、外装部材として見苦しい隙間、段差を無くし美麗なる外観を保つこと、投入蓋の閉時における衝撃音を緩和することの少なくとも何れかを達成することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前述した課題を解決するために、請求項1に記載の第1の発明に係る廃棄物処理装置は、装置本体の枠体と、枠体内に設けられ、廃棄物を処理する処理槽と、廃棄物を処理槽内に投入するための投入口と、投入口を覆う投入蓋と、投入口の周縁部と投入蓋の間にあって処理槽の気密性を保つためのパッキン材とを備えた廃棄物処理装置であって、

廃棄物処理装置1は、図1に示すように処理装置本体内に、廃棄物投入口2を有する廃棄物処理槽3を備えている。処理槽3は、中央に攪拌爪付き撹拌軸(本発明と直接関係なく、図面を煩雑にするので図示せず)を有し、その中に基材(同様の理由で図示せず)が入っている。

廃棄物の処理は次の様に行なわれる。投入蓋4を開いて処理槽3に設けた投入口2から廃棄物を処理槽3内に投入する。それに伴い、上記攪拌爪付き撹拌軸を回転させて廃棄物の撹拌を開始し、投入された廃棄物を細かく破砕すると共に上記基材とまんべんなく混合する。これにより、基材中に生息する微生物の働きで廃棄物を水分と炭酸ガス等に分解し、排気ファン(上記と同様の理由で図示せず)で排気口19を介して気体を処理槽3の外部へと排出する。

一方、廃棄物処理運転の継続に伴い、分解処理後の残留物や有機物と共に投入される難分解物(ビニール袋、割箸、貝殻等)が処理槽3内部の基材に蓄積され、微生物の生息環境が徐々に悪化して、分解処理能力の低下を招く。このことから、適宜の周期にて(例えば2ヶ月に1回)処理槽3内部の基材を掻き出し口12より取り出し、新たな基材に交換する。

以上のような廃棄物処理装置1において、本発明の中核を成す投入蓋ストッパーおよび掻き出し蓋ストッパーについて説明する。

処理装置本体の上面には、投入蓋4が取り付けられる凹み部9が設けられ、この凹み部9内に投入口2が設けられている。この投入口2の周縁部の全周に渡って、投入蓋4に装着されたパッキン材6が当接される。パッキン材6は、投入蓋4の内面に形成されたパッキン取り付け枠7に挟み込むことで、投入蓋4と一体になるよう取り付けられている。

図3に示すように、パッキン材6は、投入蓋4のパッキン取り付け枠7に差込むトリム部6bと投入口2の周縁部に押し当たる中空部6aとから成っており、ゴム等の弾性材で作られている。パッキン材6の投入蓋4の内面からの高さAは、ストッパー5a、5bの高さBに対して約125%程に設定してある。その意図するところは次の通りである。投入蓋4の閉時に、パッキン材6の中空部6aはストッパー5a、5bの高さBまで潰されて投入口2の周縁部との気密を確保するものであるが、その時のパッキン材6の撓み量は25%程度となる。この量は、一般的なゴム材の弾性限度内の変形であり、長期間の使用にあってもパッキン材6は塑性変形することなく柔軟性を保てるので、処理槽3の良好な気密性を維持できる。また、この程度の撓み量であれば、パッキン材6の反発力も小さくて投入口2の周縁部への押し圧も弱く、パッキン材6と投入口2の周縁部との固着も発生しにくくなる。

パッキン材6としては、化学的に安定なシリコーンゴム等で作られたパッキン材を用いれば、投入口2の周縁部との固着現象を改善することができるが、シリコーンゴムは高価である。そこで、本実施の形態においては、安価で耐薬品性に優れたEPDMゴム(エチレン・プロピレンゴム)を使用したパッキン材を用いている。それでも、本発明の骨子であるストッパー5a、5bを設けることにより、さらに確実な固着現象の改善ができるようになっている。
