Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus that detects a moving object based on video data and automatically tracks the moving object.
[0002]
[Prior art]
FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating a system including a conventional image processing apparatus. In FIG. 6, 1 is a camera that captures an object, 2 is a rotating base that rotates the

[0004]
However, in the conventional image processing apparatus, when tracking is performed after an intruder is detected, the tracking target may be fixed to a fixed background such as an obstacle or trees. Whether or not the tracking target is fixed on the fixed background is determined by the fact that the target does not move for a certain period of time, but there is a problem that the monitoring operation is interrupted during the fixing.
[0005]
In addition, since the conventional image processing apparatus tries to track the detected object indiscriminately, even if the target cannot be tracked, tracking may be executed, resulting in malfunction.
In addition, since monitoring is stopped during tracking, there is a problem that a blind spot time in which monitoring is not performed occurs.
Here, the malfunctioning means that an object other than the object (intruder) to be tracked is tracked, and that the camera is fixed on a fixed background such as a building or trees.
[0006]
Causes of malfunction include intruders appearing small, contrast differences with the background being small, and hiding in the shadows of buildings and trees.
[0007]
On the other hand, in Japanese Patent Laid-Open Nos. 61-39209 and 61-34515, a tracking range that can be tracked by the camera is set in advance in the screen of the image processing apparatus. The invention of the system which stops a tracking when the range exceeds the said range is described.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the trackable range of the devices described in these publications is set within an arbitrary range in the screen from the viewpoint of automatic focus setting of the camera, regardless of the background photographed by the camera.
Therefore, when a fixed background such as a building or trees is included in the background within the trackable range, the camera tracks up to an area including these fixed backgrounds.
[0009]
Even if a fixed background does not happen to be included in the initial trackable range, the relative position of the fixed background in the screen changes due to camera movement or changes in the background itself, and is fixed within the trackable range. It may happen that the background is included. In these cases, the camera is fixed to a fixed background during automatic tracking, which eventually causes a malfunction, and the above problem cannot still be solved.
[0010]
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an image processing apparatus that does not malfunction due to the presence of a fixed background when a camera performs automatic tracking. Furthermore, it is an object of the present invention to provide an image processing apparatus capable of not tracking an object other than an intruder or a moving object that is difficult to track and shortening the time during monitoring stop.
[0011]

The tracking means is configured to stop the automatic tracking when the moving object moves in a predetermined direction during the automatic tracking.
[0014]
Furthermore, the predetermined direction can be arbitrarily set in the screen.
[0015]

[0026]
The tracking prohibition area can be arbitrarily set while the operator looks at the screen of the display means 6. The automatic tracking means 35 stores in advance the shapes of fixed backgrounds such as standing trees and outdoor lights that are easily misidentified as intruders, and automatically recognizes when these fixed backgrounds are included in the video from the
[0027]
With the image processing apparatus according to the present embodiment, the camera is prevented from approaching more than necessary for a predetermined fixed background that is easily misidentified as an intruder by adopting the above-described configuration.
As a result, it is possible to prevent malfunction of the apparatus due to the automatic tracking means misrecognizing the moving object (intruder) and the fixed background. When automatic tracking is stopped, the camera is immediately returned to the initial monitoring position and monitoring is continued, so that the time during which the camera stops monitoring can be shortened.
[0028]
Embodiment 2
In the invention of the first embodiment, the automatic tracking means 35 provides a tracking prohibition area around the fixed background and prohibits the automatic tracking of the camera within this range to prevent malfunction of the
[0029]
However, in the image processing apparatus according to the second embodiment, the intruder is tracked only when the intruder moves in a specific direction on the display means. The basic configuration of the image processing apparatus is the same as that shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 described in the first embodiment, and the details of the operation will be described with reference to FIGS. 1, 2, and 4. Will be described.
[0030]
FIG. 4 is an image of the
If the specific direction is a predetermined direction, for example, a direction such as the
[0031]
By adopting such a configuration, it is possible to avoid the problem that the image processing apparatus mistakenly recognizes a moving object (for example, an animal or the like) that does not require tracking as an intruder and tracks the moving object.
Note that the specific direction may be one direction or a plurality of directions. Needless to say, the image processing apparatus according to the second embodiment can have the function of setting the tracking prohibited area described in the first embodiment.
[0032]
In each of the above-described embodiments, the automatic tracking means 35 is configured to track the moving object by identifying the moving object and the fixed background. However, when the moving object is extremely small compared to a fixed background such as a standing tree or when the contrast in the display means is low, a malfunction such as losing the moving object during automatic tracking is likely to occur. Therefore, in the image processing apparatus according to the third embodiment, the
[0033]
In the image processing apparatus according to the present embodiment, by adopting such a configuration, moving objects having a size that tends to become untrackable during automatic tracking or moving objects with low contrast are excluded from tracking targets. Since no tracking is performed from the beginning, malfunction based on these factors can be prevented.
[0034]
In the above description, whether or not tracking is possible is determined in consideration of both the comparison of the magnitude relationship between the moving object and the fixed background and the comparison of the contrast, but only either the comparison of the magnitude relationship or the comparison of the contrast is performed. It may be used to determine whether tracking is possible.
Needless to say, the functions of the image processing apparatus according to the third embodiment can be combined with the functions of the image processing apparatus described in the first or second embodiment.
[0035]
The image processing apparatus according to the fourth embodiment is provided with an alarm device that issues an alarm to notify the existence of the moving object when the moving object is recognized to the image processing apparatus described in each of the above embodiments. It is a thing.
FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the configuration of such an image processing apparatus.
[0036]
In the figure,
[0037]
In the image processing apparatus according to the present embodiment, when a moving object is recognized, an alarm is issued, so that the apparatus monitor can be notified of the existence of the moving object without causing malfunction of the apparatus.
[0038]
【The invention's effect】
In the image processing apparatus according to the present invention, the area around the predetermined fixed background is set as a tracking prohibition area, and the automatic tracking of the moving object is not performed for the area. Therefore, the image processing apparatus is fixed to the moving object. There is an effect that it is possible to prevent the apparatus from malfunctioning by erroneously recognizing the background.
[0039]
In addition, since automatic tracking is performed only when a moving object moves in a specific direction, there is an effect that unnecessary tracking can be prevented and monitoring time can be prevented from being shortened.
[0040]
Furthermore, it was decided whether or not to perform automatic tracking by comparing the contrast or shape relationship between the fixed background and the moving object, and automatic tracking was stopped when a predetermined comparison result was obtained. There is an effect that it is possible to prevent malfunction of the apparatus.
[0041]
Further, since the camera is immediately returned to the initial monitoring position when the automatic tracking is stopped, there is an effect that the monitoring stop time due to malfunction can be shortened.
[0042]
Furthermore, since an alarm generating means is provided and an alarm is generated when a moving object is recognized, there is an effect that it is possible to notify the monitor of the presence of the moving object.
