本発明は、折り畳み式の携帯電話機に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、携帯電話機の一形態として、折り畳んだ状態で露出する背面液晶画面を有した携帯電話機がある。図6に折り畳んだ状態の携帯電話機70の平面図を示す。この携帯電話機70は、通常、折り畳んだ状態で携帯され、現在時刻、着信、電子メールの受信等を背面液晶画面15に表示する。この背面液晶画面15の表示により筐体11を開くことなく最低限の情報を知ることができる。また、背面液晶画面15には、暗い場所でも表示内容を視認できるように照明(不図示)が設けられている。この照明は消費電力節約のため筐体11に設けられた照明スイッチ71を押下することで点灯するようになっており、通常は消灯している。

上記目的を達成するために本発明は、背面に表示部を有した第1の筐体と、第1の筐体に回動可能に連結されて第1の筐体に対して開閉可能とされた第2の筐体とからなり、第2の筐体を閉じた状態で前記表示部が露出する携帯電話機において、
閉じた状態の第2の筐体が所定時間内に開閉されると、前記表示部の照明を点灯することを特徴とする。

図1は、折り畳み式の携帯電話機を開いた状態の外観斜視図である。携帯電話機10は、第1の筐体11と、第1の筐体11の下端部にヒンジ12により回動可能に連結された第2の筐体13とからなり、第2の筐体13は第1の筐体11に対して開閉可能とされ、携帯電話機10は2つに折り畳むことができる。図2に、折り畳んだ状態の携帯電話機10の平面図を示す。

図1及び図2に示されるように、第1の筐体11には、折り畳んだときに内側になる面に情報を表示するメイン液晶画面14と、折り畳んだときに外側になる面に情報を表示する背面液晶画面15と、背面液晶画面15の上部にスピーカ16と、メイン液晶画面14の下部に後述の開閉検出スイッチ19を押下する突起部17と、上端部にアンテナ18とが設けられている。なお、メイン液晶画面14及び背面液晶画面15の背面には、バックライトとなる照明(不図示)がそれぞれ配設されている。また、第2の筐体13には、折り畳んだ状態で突起部17に押下される開閉検出スイッチ(開閉検出部)19と、ダイヤル操作等を行う各種キーからなる操作部20とが設けられている。なお、背面液晶画面15に表示される情報は、現在時刻、着信、電子メールの受信等の情報であり、それらの情報を確認できる文字や図柄を指す。

次に、情報を確認するときの携帯電話機10の動作について説明する。図4は、携帯電話機10の動作を示すフローチャートである。ステップS40において、携帯電話機10が折り畳まれた状態で着信や操作の待ち受け中に、ユーザにより筐体が開閉されると、ステップS41へ進んで制御部30は開閉検出スイッチ19が開状態を検出したか否かを判断する。ステップS41において開状態が検出されないとき、即ち筐体の開閉がわずかであり検出不可能であるときは、ステップS40に戻り待ち受け状態を続ける。

一方、ステップS43において所定最短時間Aを超えているときは、ユーザによる開閉動作とみなし、ステップS44へ進んで開状態の時間が所定最長時間B未満であるか否かを判断する。ステップS44において所定最長時間Bを超えているときは、筐体が開かれたままの状態であると判断し、ステップS45へ進んで、表示制御部32はメイン液晶画面14をオン状態にし、照明制御部35はメイン液晶画面用照明33を点灯させる。次にステップS45からステップS46へ進んで開閉検出スイッチ19が閉状態を検出したか否かを判断する。ステップS46において閉状態が検出されたとき、即ち携帯電話機10が再び折り畳まれたときは、ステップS47へ進んでメイン液晶画面14をオフ状態にし、メイン液晶画面用照明33を消灯する。しかる後、ステップS40に戻り待ち受け状態とする。

一方、ステップS46において閉状態が検出されないとき、即ち筐体が開かれたままの状態であるときは、ステップS48へ進んでメイン液晶画面用照明33を点灯してから所定時間経過したか否かを判断する。ステップS48において所定時間経過していなければ、ステップS46に戻る。
