【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、複数のアンテナ素子からなり、指向特性を変化させることができるアレーアンテナ装置に関し、特に、例えば、電子制御導波器アレーアンテナ装置(Electronically Steerable Passive Array Radiator (ESPAR) Antenna;以下、エスパアンテナという。)なるアレーアンテナ装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
昨今、電子ビームを操向可能な様々なアレーアンテナ装置が開発されている。その中で特に、エスパアンテナは、例えば、無線信号が送受信される1つの励振素子と、上記励振素子から所定の間隔だけ離れて設けられ、無線信号が送受信されない、例えば6個の非励振素子と、上記各非励振素子にそれぞれ接続された可変リアクタンス素子とを備えたアレーアンテナ装置であって、上記可変リアクタンス素子のリアクタンス値を変化させることにより、上記アレーアンテナ装置の指向特性を変化させるものである。ここで、エスパアンテナは、単一の信号源の接続に単一ポートのみを要し、かつ同一の周波数で多数の方向にビームを生成することができるという特有の効果を有している。なお、このエスパアンテナは、例えば、従来技術文献1「T. Ohira et al., "Electronically steerable passive array radiator antennas for low-cost analog adaptive beamforming", 2000 IEEE International Conference on Phased Array Systems & Technology pp. 101-106, Dana point, California, May 21-25, 2000」や特願平11−194487号の特許出願において提案されている。

このエスパアンテナは、スマートで、或いはアダプティブなアンテナ機能を有する携帯通信又は移動体通信及びモバイルコンピューティングに適しており、無線通信やモバイルコンピューティングシステムにおいては、特に、電子的に制御されたビームを使用して、スペクトル効率及びバッテリパワー効率を拡大すると同時にマルチパス伝搬及び同一チャンネル干渉に付随する問題を低減させることができるとともに、例えば、このエスパアンテナは、例えば、移動体通信端末用のアンテナとしてノートパソコンやPDA(Personal Digital Assistant)のような電子機器へ装着が容易であり、また、水平面のどの方向へ主ビームを走査した場合でも、すべての非励振素子が導波器又は反射器として有効に機能し、水平面指向特性の制御もきわめて容易であるという優れた性能を備えている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来例のエスパアンテナにおいては、接地導体板に対して電気的に絶縁された状態で、その接地導体板に対して垂直となるように、励振素子や非励振素子を支持しなければならず、そのアンテナ構造が複雑であって、製造方法も難しいという問題点があった。

本発明の目的は以上の問題点を解決し、従来例のエスパアンテナに比較して構造が簡単であって、励振素子や非励振素子を容易に形成することができるアレーアンテナ装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本願の第1の発明に係るアレーアンテナ装置は、無線信号が送受信される励振素子と、上記励振素子から所定の間隔だけ離れて設けられ、無線信号が送受信されない複数の非励振素子と、上記各非励振素子に接続された可変リアクタンス素子とを備え、上記可変リアクタンス素子のリアクタンス値を変化させることにより、上記アレーアンテナ装置の指向特性を変化させるアレーアンテナ装置において、
上記複数の非励振素子のうちの少なくとも1つが形成された少なくとも1枚の誘電体基板を上記励振素子の周囲に設けたことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面を参照して本発明に係る実施形態について説明する。

<第1の実施形態>
図1は、本発明に係る第1の実施形態である、誘電体基板、例えばプリント配線基板を用いて構成された半波長ダイポールエスパアンテナ装置1の構成を示す斜視図である。本実施形態のエスパアンテナ装置1は、誘電体支持基板4上に、励振素子である半波長ダイポールアンテナA0と、その周囲に配置され、非励振素子A1乃至A6が形成されたプリント配線基板3a乃至3cとを備えて構成したことを特徴としている。

図1において、誘電体支持基板4は、半径r3を有する円板形状の誘電体基板であって、その中心から垂直方向に延在するように、送受信無線信号の波長の約半分の長さを有する半波長ダイポールアンテナA0がその一端が誘電体支持基板4の中心に形成された円形孔に圧入されて、誘電体支持基板4により支持されて設けられる。ここで、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0は、その中央部に位置する電気絶縁体2によって互いに絶縁されかつ互いに一直線上に延在するように電気絶縁体2を介して連結され、それぞれ1/4波長の長さを有する励振アンテナ素子A0a及びA0bを備えて構成される。この半波長ダイポールアンテナA0の各励振アンテナ素子A0a及びA0bの電気絶縁体2側の各一端(以下、対向側一端という。)はそれぞれ、平衡型送受信ケーブル5を介して無線機(図示せず。)に接続されることにより、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0は給電されて無線信号が送受信される。

また、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0の周囲において、3枚のプリント配線基板3a,3b,3cが誘電体支持基板4に対して垂直方向でそれに形成された矩形孔に圧入されて誘電体支持基板4により支持されて設けられる。プリント配線基板3aには非励振素子A1及びA2が形成され、プリント配線基板3bには非励振素子A3及びA4が形成され、プリント配線基板3cには非励振素子A5及びA6が形成され、これらの素子A1乃至A6は公知のプリント配線基板のプロセス技術により形成される。

ここで、非励振素子A1は、それぞれ同一の長さl1を有しかつ半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に対して平行であって互いに所定の距離だけ離間して一直線上に延在するように形成されたストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子A1a及びA1bを備えてプリント配線基板3a上に形成された半波長ダイポールアンテナと、後述する可変リアクタンス回路とで構成される。また、非励振素子A2は、それぞれ同一の長さl1を有しかつ半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に対して平行であって互いに所定の距離だけ離間して一直線上に延在するように形成されたストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子A2a及びA2bを備えてプリント配線基板3a上に形成された半波長ダイポールアンテナで構成される。さらに、非励振素子A3及びA4はそれぞれ、非励振素子A1及びA2と同様に、ストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子A3a及びA3b,A4a及びA4bを備えてプリント配線基板3b上に形成され、また、非励振素子A5及びA6はそれぞれ、非励振素子A1乃至A4と同様に、ストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子A5a及びA5b,A6a及びA6bを備えてプリント配線基板3c上に形成される。

なお、上記プリント配線基板3a乃至3cは、例えば厚さ約1mmのガラスエポキシ樹脂、テフロン、又はアルミナセラミックなどから構成される。

これらのプリント配線基板3a乃至3cとダイポールアンテナA0との配置状態は、図2の上面図に詳しい。この図2を参照すると、非励振素子A1乃至A6は、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0を中心とする半径r2の円周801上に配置されるように、プリント配線基板3a乃至3cが半波長ダイポールアンテナA0の周囲に設けられている。この実施形態においては、6個の非励振素子A1乃至A6を備えていて、その非励振素子A1乃至A6の、互いに隣接する2つの間隔はそれぞれr2に等しい。

図3は、図1のプリント基板3aの詳細構成を図示した斜視図である。プリント配線基板3aにおいて、エスパアンテナ装置1の外側に向けられた面(以下、外面という。図3では、点線で示す向こう側の面をいう。)上に、プリントアンテナ素子A1a,A1b,A2a及びA2bが形成される一方、プリント配線基板3aにおいて、エスパアンテナ装置1の内側に向けられた面(以下、内面という。図3では、実線で示す手前側の面をいう。)上に、アンテナ素子A1a及びA1b,A2a及びA2bのための2つの可変リアクタンス回路が設けられる。以下、この可変リアクタンス回路について説明する。

非励振素子A1の可変リアクタンス回路においては、プリント配線基板3aの内面上に、互いに離間して4つの電極21,22,31,32が形成されている。プリントアンテナ素子A1aの対向側一端は、プリント配線基板3aに形成されたスルーホール導体11を介して電極21に接続され、この電極21は可変容量ダイオードD1のカソードに接続されるとともに、例えば数MΩの高周波阻止用高抵抗R1aを介して電極31に接続される。また、プリントアンテナ素子A1bの対向側一端も、スルーホール導体12を介して電極22に接続され、この電極22は可変容量ダイオードD1のアノードに接続されるとともに、例えば数MΩの高周波阻止用高抵抗R1bを介して電極32に接続される。さらに、電極31,32はそれぞれ、ペアケーブル6aを介して当該アレーアンテナ装置の指向特性を制御するコントローラ(図示せず。)の印加バイアス電圧端子DC+,DC−に接続されている。以上のように構成された可変リアクタンス回路においては、コントローラからの印加バイアス電圧が、ペアケーブル6a及び高抵抗R1a,R1bを介して可変容量ダイオードD1の両端に印加され、このとき、印加バイアス電圧を変化することにより可変容量ダイオードD1の接合容量値、すなわちリアクタンス値を変化させることができる。

また、非励振素子A2においてもプリント配線基板3aの内面上に、非励振素子A1の場合と同様に4つの電極23,24,33,34と可変容量ダイオードD2と、高周波阻止用高抵抗R2a,R2bとから成る可変リアクタンス回路が設けられていて、ペアケーブル6bを介して可変容量ダイオードD2へのバイアス電圧を変化させることにより、そのリアクタンス値を変化させることができる。

さらに、他の非励振素子A3乃至A6の可変リアクタンス回路についても、図3を参照して説明した非励振素子A1及びA2と同様に構成される。

上記コントローラは可変電圧直流電源の機能を有し、各非励振素子A1乃至A6に接続された可変容量ダイオードD1乃至D6に印加する逆バイアス電圧を変化させることにより、可変容量ダイオードD1乃至D6の各接合容量を変化させ、これにより、各非励振素子A1乃至A6の電気長を、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に比較して変化させ、当該アレーアンテナ装置1の平面指向特性を変化させることができる。具体的には、非励振素子の電気長を、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に比較して長く設定したときは、その非励振素子は半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に対して反射器として動作する一方、非励振素子の電気長を、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に比較して短く設定したときは、その非励振素子は半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に対して導波器として動作する。ここで、複数の非励振素子A1乃至A6の一部を反射器、別の一部を導波器として動作させることにより、任意の平面指向特性を設定することができる。

第1の実施形態において、好ましい実施例においては、送受信する無線信号の周波数が、例えば、約2.4GHzであるとき、各プリントアンテナ素子A1a乃至A6bの長さl1は3cm、プリント配線基板3a乃至3cの長手方向の長さは約7cm、図1及び図2の半径r2は3.12cmに設定される。

以上のように構成された第1の実施形態に係る半波長ダイポールエスパアンテナ装置1によれば、非励振素子A1乃至A6が形成された誘電体基板3a,3b,3cを励振素子である半波長ダイポールアンテナA0の周囲に設けたので、従来例のエスパアンテナに比較して構造が簡単であって、励振素子や非励振素子を容易にかつ高精度で形成することができるアレーアンテナ装置を提供することができる。また、誘電体基板3a,3b,3c上に非励振素子A1乃至A6を形成しているので、プリント配線基板の形成技術で容易にアンテナ素子を形成することができ、製造工程がきわめて簡単になるという特有の利点を有する。

以上の第1の実施形態においては、3枚の誘電体基板3a,3b,3cを備えているが、本発明はこれに限らず、2枚とか、4枚とかの複数枚の誘電体基板を備えて構成してもよく、また、各誘電体基板上に形成する非励振素子の数は2枚に限定されず、1枚とか、3枚とかの複数であってもよい。

<第2の実施形態>
図7は、本発明に係る第2の実施形態である半波長モノポールエスパアンテナ装置100の構成を示す斜視図であり、図1乃至図8と同一のものについては同一の符号を付し、それらの詳細な説明を省略する。この実施形態に係る半波長モノポールエスパアンテナ装置100は、図1の第2の実施形態に比較して以下の点が異なる。
(1)半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に代えて、半波長モノポールアンテナ素子AA0が用いられる。
(2)非励振素子A1乃至A6に代えて、各プリント配線基板3a,3b,3cにそれぞれ形成された、それぞれ半波長モノポールアンテナである、半波長の長さl4を有するストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子にてなる非励振素子AA1乃至AA6を備える。

図9は、本発明に係る第3の実施形態であるオフセットダイポールエスパアンテナ装置200の構成を示す斜視図であり、図1乃至図2と同様のものについては同一の符号を付し、それらの詳細な説明を省略する。本実施形態のエスパアンテナ装置200は、図1の第1の実施形態に比較して以下の点が異なる。すなわち、半波長ダイポールアンテナA0に代えて、概ね半波長の有効長(l7+l8)を有するオフセットダイポールアンテナAB0が用いられる。

図10は、本発明に係る第4の実施形態である、プリント配線基板によってのみ構成された半波長ダイポールエスパアンテナ装置300の構成を示す斜視図である。本実施形態のエスパアンテナ装置300は、誘電体支持基板304上に、非励振素子AC1乃至AC6のみならず、さらに励振素子である半波長ダイポールアンテナAC0もプリントアンテナ素子として形成したプリント配線基板303a乃至303cを備えたことを特徴とする。

一方、非励振素子AC1は、それぞれ同一の長さl1を有しかつ半波長ダイポールアンテナAC0に対して平行であって互いに所定の距離だけ離間して一直線上に延在するように形成されたストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子AC1a及びAC1bを備えてプリント配線基板303a上に形成された半波長ダイポールアンテナで構成されている。また、非励振素子AC2も、ストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子AC2a及びAC2bを備えてプリント配線基板303a上に形成された半波長ダイポールアンテナで構成されており、さらに、非励振素子AC3及びAC6はそれぞれ、非励振素子AC1及びAC2と同様に、ストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子AC3a及びAC3b,AC6a及びAC6bを備えてプリント配線基板303b上に半波長ダイポールアンテナAC0とともに形成され、また、非励振素子AC4及びAC5はそれぞれ、非励振素子AC1乃至AC2と同様に、ストリップ形状のプリントアンテナ素子AC4a及びAC4b,AC5a及びAC5bを備えてプリント配線基板3c上に形成される。

以上詳述したように、本発明に係るアレーアンテナ装置によれば、従来例のエスパアンテナにおいて、複数の非励振素子のうちの少なくとも1つが形成された少なくとも1枚の誘電体基板を上記励振素子の周囲に設け、又は、励振素子と、複数の非励振素子のうちの少なくとも1つとが形成された第1の誘電体基板を備え、もしくは、複数の非励振素子の少なくとも1つが形成された誘電体フィルムを上記励振素子の周囲に設けたので、従来例のエスパアンテナに比較して構造が簡単であって、励振素子や非励振素子を容易に形成することができるアレーアンテナ装置を提供することができる。また、誘電体基板又は誘電体フィルム上に、プリント配線基板の形成技術で励振素子や非励振素子を形成しているので、容易にかつ高精度でアンテナ素子を形成することができ、製造工程がきわめて簡単になるという特有の利点を有する。

Claims (3)
複数の非励振素子を互いに平行となるように誘電体フィルムに形成し、
上記各非励振素子の一端の接続点にそれぞれ接続される可変リアクタンス素子を上記誘電体フィルムに形成し、
上記誘電体フィルムに対して直交しかつ上記各非励振素子の接続点から延在するように円形状の第1の支持基板を設け、
上記各可変リアクタンス素子にそれぞれ接続される制御信号伝送用ペアケーブルを上記第1の支持基板に沿って配線し、
上記励振素子の形成位置であって上記第1の支持基板の中央部に、上記励振素子の長手方向と実質的に平行となるように第1の直径を有する円筒形状の第1のスリーブ導体を設け、
上記第1のスリーブ導体の円筒内であって上記励振素子の長手方向と実質的に平行となるように上記第1の直径よりも小さい第2の直径を有する円筒形状の複数の第2のスリーブ導体を設け、
上記第1の支持基板に沿って配線された各制御信号伝送用ペアケーブルをそれぞれ上記各第2のスリーブ導体内に配線し、
