【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a developer image transferred from an image carrier to a transfer sheet such as plain paper or OHP transparent resin sheet (OHP sheet) in an image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copying machine, printer, or facsimile. The present invention relates to a fixing device for fixing by heating and melting.

[0007]
As described above, it is difficult to increase all of the thermal conductivity, heat resistance and elasticity of the silicon rubber constituting the elastic member. When the thermal conductivity is set high in order to increase productivity, it is caused by thermal degradation. Hardness reduction cannot be avoided.
[0008]
In view of the problems in the conventional fixing device, it is an object of the present invention to provide a fixing device having high productivity by correcting the influence of a decrease in hardness of an elastic member due to thermal deterioration.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To solve the above problems1st inventionEach includes an elastic member, and heating means for heating at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members and the first and second heat-fixing members pressed against each other so that these elastic members are in contact with each other WhenA fixing condition correcting unit that corrects a fixing condition including at least one of a fixing speed and a fixing temperature based on at least the cumulative energization time and at least image information including the image density and the image area,When the transfer sheet on which the developer image is transferred from the surface of the image carrier is inserted into the contact portion of the first and second heat fixing members, the transfer sheet is transferred from at least one of the first and second heat fixing members. In the fixing device in which the developer is heated and melted by the heat supplied to the toner and fixed on the transfer sheet,The transfer sheet has an OHP mode in which the OHP sheet is used. In the OHP mode, the fixing condition correcting means increases the accumulated energization time from at least one of the first and second heat fixing members to the transfer sheet. The fixing condition is corrected so that the amount of heat supplied from at least one of the first and second heat fixing members to the transfer sheet increases as the amount of heat supplied increases and the halftone image area increases. ToA fixing device is provided.
[0010]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members provided with elastic members, and the first and second heat-fixing members pressed against each other so that the elastic members are in contact with each other. A heating unit for heating, and a fixing condition correcting unit for correcting a fixing condition including at least one of a fixing speed and a fixing temperature based on at least the cumulative energization time and at least image information including an image density and an image area. And when the transfer sheet on which the developer image is transferred from the surface of the image carrier is inserted into the contact portion of the first and second heat fixing members, from at least one of the first and second heat fixing members In a fixing device in which a developer is heated and melted by heat supplied to a transfer sheet and fixed to the transfer sheet, the transfer sheet is a plain paper mode in which the transfer sheet is plain paper, and the transfer sheet is an OHP sheet. The OHP mode, and the same developer image, either a plain paper mode in which plain paper and an OHP sheet are alternately used as a transfer sheet can be selected. In the plain paper mode, the greater the energization time, the greater the amount of heat supplied from at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members to the transfer sheet, and the greater the high-density image area, the first and first. The fixing conditions are corrected so that the amount of heat supplied from at least one of the two heat fixing members to the transfer sheet is reduced. In the OHP mode, as the cumulative energization time increases, at least one of the first and second heat fixing members. The amount of heat supplied to the transfer sheet increases, andHalftoneThe larger the image area, the more the fixing condition is corrected so that the amount of heat supplied from at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members to the transfer sheet is reduced. In the interleaf mode, the halftone image area is large. In such a case, a fixing device is provided that corrects the fixing conditions under the same conditions as in the OHP mode, and corrects the fixing conditions under the same conditions as in the plain paper mode when the high-density image area is large. To do.
[0011]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members provided with elastic members, and the first and second heat-fixing members pressed against each other so that the elastic members are in contact with each other. Can be selected from the OHP mode, and the interleaving paper mode in which plain paper and OHP sheets are alternately used for the same developer image. As the cumulative energization time increases, the amount of heat supplied from at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members to the transfer sheet increases, and as the high-density image area increases, the first and second heat-fixing members. The fixing conditions are corrected so that the amount of heat supplied to the transfer sheet from at least one of them is reduced. In the OHP mode, as the cumulative energization time increases, the transfer from at least one of the first and second heat fixing members to the transfer sheet increases. As the amount of heat supplied increases and the halftone image area increases, the amount of heat supplied from at least one of the first and second heat-fixing members to the transfer sheet decreases. It corrected, in Inserts mode, to provide a fixing device and correcting the fixing conditions in OHP mode under the same conditions.
[0012]
The fixing device may include means for holding the first and second heat fixing members at a constant distance and holding the width of the contact portion constant.
[0015]
If the fixing conditions are corrected based on the accumulated energization time as described above, even if the heat supply efficiency to the transfer sheet is reduced due to the decrease in hardness due to the thermal deterioration of the elastic member of the heat fixing member, In addition, since sufficient heat is supplied, it is possible to prevent the fixing property and the translucent color reproducibility from being lowered, and it is possible to set the fixing speed at a high speed.
[0016]
In addition, since the fixing conditions are corrected in consideration of not only the accumulated energization time but also image information, it is possible to prevent a change in glossiness for plain paper and a decrease in translucent color reproducibility for OHP sheets. In addition, it is possible to prevent excessive heat load from being applied to the elastic member due to the correction of the fixing conditions, thereby preventing thermal deterioration from proceeding.
[0017]
Temperature detecting means for detecting a surface temperature of at least one of the first and second heat fixing members, and the fixing condition correcting means includes temperature detecting means in addition to the integrated energization time and image information. It is preferable that the fixing condition is corrected based on the detected temperature. With such a configuration, it is possible to more reliably prevent deterioration of fixing property and translucent color reproducibility.

On the other hand, in the case of an OHP sheet, as shown in FIG. 5, the translucent color reproducibility decreases as the cumulative energization time increases. Note that the OHP translucency rank on the vertical axis in FIG. 5 indicates that the larger the value, the higher the translucent color reproducibility. “1” is generally cloudy, “2” is the highlight portion. In addition, the larger the area of the highlight portion that is a halftone, the greater the influence of the decrease in translucent color reproducibility due to the longer integrated energization time.

If it is detected in step S6-6 that power is not being supplied, the timer is stopped in step S6-7, and the current power supply time TM is read in step S6-8. In step S6-9, an integrated value of the energization time TM (integrated energization time ATM) is calculated and stored in step S6-10.
[0037]
The fixing operation shown in FIG. 7 will be described. First, in step S7-1, the same developer image is obtained in the plain paper mode in which the

[0039]
Next, in step S7-3, an image information data value Y is calculated based on the image information read in step S7-2.
[0040]
First, for example, as shown in FIG. 8A, the distribution ratio x for each image density value a (a = 1 to 256) is calculated. Next, the coefficient value α corresponding to each image density value a is obtained from the diagram of FIG.
[0041]
Further, the distribution ratio y of the image area value b for each image density value a is calculated. For example, FIG. 8C shows the distribution ratio y of the image area value b when the image density a in FIG. Further, a coefficient value β corresponding to the distribution rate y of each image area value b is obtained from the diagram of FIG. For each image area value b, a distribution ratio y is multiplied by a coefficient value β, and a value δ is calculated by integrating this with the image area value b.
[0042]
The image information data value Y is obtained by multiplying each image density value a by the distribution rate x, the coefficient value α, and the value δ by the image density a, and is represented by the following equation.

The
[0045]
As described above, the image information data value Y calculated from the image density and the image area indicates the characteristics of the image. First, when the image information data value Y is a relatively small value of about 2000 or less, it indicates that the image is a character, a graph, or the like. In addition, when the image information data value Y is an intermediate value of about 2001 to 14000, it indicates that the image is a halftone image that may have a highlight portion. Further, when the image information data value Y is a relatively large value of about 14001 or more, it indicates that the image has a large area of the high density portion.
[0046]
After calculating the image information data value Y in step S7-3, the integrated energization time ATM is read into the
[0047]
Next, if it is not the slip sheet mode in step S7-5, the process proceeds to step S7-7. In step S7-7, it is determined whether the recording paper is plain paper or an OHP sheet. If it is plain paper, the process proceeds to step S7-8.
[0048]
In step S7-8, the fixing conditions for the plain paper mode are corrected according to the accumulated energization time ATM and the image information data value Y. In this embodiment, the initial value of the fixing temperature before correction is 160 ° C., and the initial value of the fixing speed before correction is 150 mm / sec. The nip width is 6.5 mm.
[0049]
First, if the integrated energization time ATM is less than 200 hours in step S9-1 in FIG. 9, it is determined in step S9-2 that the fixing condition is not corrected. If the cumulative energization time ATM is not less than 200 hours in step S9-1, the process proceeds to step S9-3. If the integrated energization time ATM is less than 800 hours in step S9-3, the fixing conditions are corrected based on Table 2 in step S9-4.

[Table 2]
[0051]
If the image information data value Y is 2000 or less at step S9-4, the fixing temperature is raised by 1.5 ° C. If the image information data value Y is between 2001 and 14000, the fixing speed is reduced by 2%. Also, when the image information data value Y is 14001 or higher, the fixing speed is reduced by 2%.

If the accumulated energization time ATM is not less than 800 hours in step S9-3, the process proceeds to step S9-5. If the cumulative energization time ATM is less than 2000 hours in step S9-5, the fixing conditions are corrected based on Table 3 in step S9-6.
[0054]
[Table 3]
[0055]
If the image information data value Y is 2000 or less in step S9-6, the fixing temperature is increased by 3 ° C. If the image information data value Y is between 2001 and 14000, the fixing temperature is increased by 1.5 ° C. and the fixing speed is reduced by 2%. If the image information data value Y is 14001 or higher, the fixing speed is reduced by 4%.
[0056]
If the integrated energization time ATM is not less than 2000 hours in step S9-5, the process proceeds to step S9-7. If the cumulative energization time ATM is less than 5000 hours in step S9-7, the fixing conditions are corrected based on Table 4 in step S9-8.
[0057]
[Table 4]
[0058]
If the image information data value Y is 2000 or less in step S9-8, the fixing temperature is increased by 4.5 ° C. If the image information data value Y is between 2001 and 14000, the fixing temperature is increased by 1.5 ° C., and the fixing speed is reduced by 4%. If the image information data value Y is 14001 or higher, the fixing speed is reduced by 6%.
[0059]
If the cumulative energization time ATM is not less than 5000 hours in step S9-7, the fixing conditions are corrected based on Table 5 in step S9-9.
[0060]
[Table 5]
[0061]
If the image information data value Y is 2000 or less at step S9-9, the fixing temperature is increased by 6.0 ° C. If the image information data value Y is between 2001 and 14000, the fixing temperature is increased by 3 ° C. and the fixing speed is reduced by 4%. If the image information data value Y is 14001 or higher, the fixing speed is reduced by 8%.
[0062]
After correcting the fixing conditions, the fixing operation is executed in step S7-9 in FIG. When the end of copying is detected in step S7-10, the fixing operation ends.
[0063]
As described above, in the plain paper mode, at least one of the increase of the fixing temperature and the reduction of the fixing speed is performed with the increase of the cumulative energization time ATM. FixingtemperatureThe amount of heat supplied from the

Further, as shown in Tables 2 to 5, when the integrated energization time ATM is in the same range, the larger the image information data value Y, that is, the higher the density, the higher the fixing temperature rise amount and the fixing speed. Reduction amountbigIt is set. Therefore, since the fixing speed is not reduced in an image with a small image information data value Y such as a character, high productivity can be obtained, and in an image having a high density portion and a large image data value, the glossiness by correcting the fixing condition is improved. Change can be suppressed.
[0065]
Further, as described above, not only the integrated energization time ATM but also the image information is taken into consideration to correct the fixing conditions, so that an excessive heat load acts on the
[0066]
If the recording paper is an OHP sheet in step S7-7, the fixing conditions for the OHP mode are corrected based on the accumulated time ATM and the image information data value Y in step S7-11.
[0067]
First, in step S10-1 in FIG. 10, if the integrated energization time ATM is less than 200 hours, it is determined in step S10-2 that the fixing condition is not corrected. If the cumulative energization time ATM is not less than 200 hours in step S10-1, the process proceeds to step S10-3. If the cumulative energization time ATM is less than 800 hours in step S10-3, the fixing conditions are corrected based on Table 6.

After correcting the fixing conditions, a fixing operation is executed in step S7-12 in FIG. When the end of copying is detected in step S7-13, the fixing operation ends.

[0082]
If the slip sheet mode is selected in step S7-5 in FIG. 7, the correction condition is selected in step S7-6. In step S7-6, when the image information data value Y is small (2000 or less) and the image information data value Y is large (14001 or more), the correction condition for the plain paper mode is selected, and step S7- Then, the process proceeds to step 8, and the fixing condition is corrected under the same conditions as in the plain paper mode shown in FIG. On the other hand, if the image information data value Y is medium (2001 to 14000) in step S7-6, the correction condition for the OHP mode is selected, and the process proceeds to step S7-11, and the OHP mode shown in FIG. The fixing conditions are corrected under the same conditions as in the case.

[0085]
In the interleaving paper mode, when the image information data value Y is intermediate, as described above, the translucent color reproducibility of the OHP sheet is emphasized, and when the image information data value Y is large, the glossiness of plain paper is set. It is preferable to emphasize this, but generally, a decrease in translucent color reproducibility becomes a larger practical problem than a change in glossiness. Therefore, in the interleaf mode, the fixing conditions may be corrected under the same conditions as in the OHP mode regardless of the image information data value Y.

(Second Embodiment)
Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described.
[0087]
In the second embodiment, the integrated energization time and the image information data value Y are prevented in order to prevent a decrease in the fixing property of plain paper and the translucent color reproducibility of the OHP sheet due to a decrease in hardness due to thermal degradation of the

In step S11-1 to step S11-4 in FIG. 11, as in the first embodiment, after reading the transfer sheet information, reading the image information, calculating the image information data value Y, and reading the time information, step S11 is performed. The detected temperature t of the

Step S11-9Establishment ofconditionsIn step S12-1 to step S12-9 in FIG. 12, the correction is performed on the basis of the integrated energization time ATM and the image information data value Y in the same manner as the correction of the fixing condition in the plain paper mode in the first embodiment. Correct the fixing conditions. Next, in step S12-10, a set value (set temperature t) of the detected temperature t and the fixing temperature.set) (Temperature difference Δt) is calculated, and the fixing speed is further corrected in accordance with the temperature difference Δt in steps S12-11 to S12-15.
[0092]
First, when the temperature difference Δt is smaller than 2.5 ° C. in step S12-11 (Δt = 0 to −2.5 ° C.), it is determined that the fixing temperature is not corrected in step S12-12. If the temperature difference Δt is not smaller than 2.5 ° C. in step S12-11, the process proceeds to step S12-13. If the temperature difference Δt is smaller than −5 in step S12-13 (Δt = −2.5 to −5 ° C.), the fixing speed is further reduced by 3.5% in step S12-14. If the temperature difference Δt is larger than −5 in step S12-13 (Δt is −5 ° C. or more), the fixing speed is further reduced by 7% in step S12-15.

Fixing in step S11-12conditionsIn this correction, as shown in steps S13-1 to S13-9 in FIG. 13, the fixing is performed based on the integrated energization time ATM and the image information data value Y as in the correction of the fixing condition in the OHP mode in the first embodiment. Correct the condition. Next, the temperature difference Δt is calculated in step S13-10, and the fixing speed is determined according to the temperature difference Δt in steps S13-11 to S13-15.SupplementCorrect.
[0095]
First, if the temperature difference Δt is smaller than 2.5 ° C. in step S13-11 (Δt = 0 to −2.5 ° C.), the fixing is performed in step S13-12.speedIt is determined that no correction is made. If the temperature difference Δt is not smaller than 2.5 ° C. in step S13-11, the process proceeds to step S13-13. Step S13When the temperature difference Δt is smaller than −5 at −13 (Δt = −2.5 to −5 ° C.), the fixing speed is determined at step S13-14.5% Reduction. Step S13When the temperature difference Δt is greater than −5 at −13 (Δt is −5 ° C. or more), the fixing speed is obtained at step S13-15.1Reduce by 0%.
[0096]
If the slip sheet mode is selected in step S11-6, the fixing condition correction for the plain paper mode is performed when the image information data value Y is small or large as in the first embodiment in step S11-7. If the image information data value Y is medium, the fixing conditions are corrected under the same conditions as the OHP mode fixing condition correction.
[0097]
As described above, in the second embodiment, the fixing speed is further corrected based on the temperature difference Δt in any of the plain paper mode, the OHP mode, and the slip sheet mode. The larger the temperature difference Δt, the lower the fixing speed. Is set large. The larger the temperature difference Δt, the lower the actual surface temperature of the
[0098]
Also in the second embodiment, when the image information data is small in the slip sheet mode, the fixing conditions may be corrected under the same conditions as in the OHP mode. In the case of the slip sheet mode, the fixing conditions may be corrected under the same conditions as in the OHP mode regardless of the image information data value Y. Further, the fixing temperature may be increased according to the temperature difference Δt.
[0099]
【The invention's effect】
As is apparent from the above description, in the fixing device of the present invention, since the fixing condition is corrected based on the accumulated energization time, heat is supplied to the transfer sheet due to a decrease in hardness due to thermal deterioration of the elastic member of the heating member. Even if the efficiency is lowered, sufficient heat is supplied to the transfer sheet, so that it is possible to reliably prevent deterioration of fixing property and translucent color reproducibility. For this reason, the fixing speed can be set to a high speed, and the productivity can be improved. Furthermore, if the fixing conditions are corrected in consideration of the surface temperature of the elastic member detected by the temperature detecting means, it is possible to more reliably prevent a decrease in fixing property and translucent color reproducibility.
