上記目的を達成するために本発明は、吸引風を発する電動送風機を内蔵する掃除機本体と、前記電動送風機が発する排気風を大気へ排出する排気口を有し、前記掃除機本体と着脱可能に別部品で構成した排気カバーを備え、前記排気カバーに設けた塵埃を吸引するアタッチメントの装着部の少なくとも一部が、前記排気口の下方に位置しかつアタッチメント装着時、前記排気口の外郭より前記アタッチメントの外郭が突出するように形成した電気掃除機で、アタッチメントの形状が変更となっても、排気カバーの形状変更のみで済み、掃除機本体を構成する部材については、他の電気掃除機と共用化が図れ、総合的にコスト低減が図れる。また、アタッチメントの装着部の少なくとも一部が、前記排気口の下方に位置しかつアタッチメント装着時、前記排気口の外郭より前記アタッチメントの外郭が突出するように形成してあるため、排気口より放出された排気が被掃除面上のゴミを舞い上げることもなく、使用性が向上する。
