紙製のダンボール箱や合成樹脂製の軽量な箱は、野菜や花、衣類等の各種の軽量な商品、家電製品等を収容する箱として、あるいは転宅の際の各種の家財等の保管箱として多く使用されている。
これらの用途に使用される箱の蓋を閉止する方法は、野菜や花のように1回の輸送に使用する箱の場合は、粘着テープや金属製閉止具(ホッチキス)で閉止する方法が普通に使用されている。
